Green Eyeliners

Ok, I’ve hesitated to write this post because it’s been hard to find green eyeliners that I absolutely love in the green beauty world.  Can anyone else relate?  Trust me, I’ve tried a slew of them, but there’s always something missing. They either don’t go on well or don’t last…my biggest pet peeve is the longevity.  I want my eyeliner to stay…like the whole day!  I love eyeliner, when I wear makeup, eyeliner is going on.  So you can imagine what a struggle it’s been for me…haha, ok this isn’t life or death but you get the point.  A girl’s got to have her eyeliner!

Do you know what’s in conventional eyeliners?  Scary stuff, like mineral oil, parabens, propylene glycol, 1,4 dioxane and some even have DMDM- oh you know just the stuff that releases formaldehyde when it comes in contact with the body!  Crazy…gross.  Don’t worry I found some faves, well two to be exact that I love.  I hope to find more in the future that I feel confident recommending, but for now these two are it.

ZUZU Luxe Liquid Liner-

I love this liquid goodness.  This was the first eyeliner I found that stayed put all day.  I felt like God had given me a gift!  It has a felt tip, which I love.  However, I’ve found at times, I use my eyeliner brush too, gives me a thinner line.  I just dab the eyeliner brush on the felt tip to pick up some product.  They have 6 colors to choose from, so if you’re into some color, you don’t have to sacrifice!  Taureg is my favorite.  A rich brown, that almost looks black.  I wear it above my eye and below in my water line.  Oh and did I mention they’re vegan and gluten free?  Yeah, well Zuzu’s whole line is!  Plus, they’re waterproof, hypo-allergenic and fragrance free.  Do you see why I love them so much?!  I’m going to give you a little nugget of wisdom too, never pay full price for these bad boys.  Why?  Because they are always on sale!  You can get them at most natural beauty stores, Whole Foods and Pharmaca.  Whole Foods has them on sale a lot.  Pharmaca always has sales on them too.  And as I’ve mentioned before, if you haven’t purchased from Pharmaca, you can get 30% off your first order…hello stock up!  They run for $14.99, which is already a steal, but trust me there are always sales.

Root Pretty Black Gel Eyeliner-

I recently discovered Root’s gel eyeliner and haven’t looked back.  I had been browsing through their products and came across it.  I knew I had to try it!  A clean gel eyeliner…was God gifting me once again?!  Gel liners used to be my jam, well namely, MAC Gel pots…you know, the ones that glided on so effortlessly and stayed forever?  Well, my days with them were long gone and it was time to find a new gel eyeliner, and I certainly did.  Root’s not only goes on smoothly, but you can smudge it for the perfect smoky eye.  Once you apply, smudge away and then it drys.  It also works great in the water line-no irritation.  And the kicker?  It lasts!  I was so giddy when I looked in the mirror and it was still there.  This is especially great for those who have a hard time being as precise with a liquid liner.  I love setting mine with a little RMS translucent Un Powder.  Root didn’t just stop with an amazing eyeliner that lasts, but they also made it vegan and gluten free…just like all their products!  Oh and the ingredients are pure and organic.  Did I mention how big the container is…it will last you forever!  At $16, you should probably just buy one for your green beauty friend too.

Those are my faves for eyeliners.  What do you use?  Please tell!  Leave me a comment.

Eyeliner has been so hard for me to replace! Unfortunately the Zuzu didn’t last on my oily lids for very long. Jane Iredale makes a pretty good gel eyeliner pot, but it doesn’t have the staying power of MAC’s Fluidline (also an ex-user). Root Pretty sounds promising – I’m going to look into them!

Hi Mayette! Thanks for reading. I hear ya girl! My lids are so oily too. Did you try priming your lids? I have to do that with any eyeliner. I’ve used Jane as well a long time ago and they didn’t work for me, but I should give them a go again, I’ve heard they’ve reformulated. Yes, I really like Root, I always prime, then apply and then add a dark shadow on top-it’s worked for me! Check out my eyeshadow post…I give more of an in depth description of how I prime my eyes. 🙂 https://gurlgonegreen.com/2015/10/30/fave-eyeshadows/

Hi Murielle! I don’t know of any stores that carry it offhand. Your best bet would be to contact them at 319-290-5746 or to e-mail them hello@rootpretty.com. Hope that helps!

    hi suzi,
just wondering, do you use white eye liner to help open up the eyes more? i use to use the one from tarte, loved it, BUT i had a reaction to their eye products…. do you recommend a brand? i miss the white eye liner. I using the zuzu eyeliner and LOVE it, no reactions at all. Oh also, i’m looking into a lower lid eye liner that won’t run. any recommendations?
