I’m so excited to finally share with you guys the July box for Glowing Beets!! It just so happens to be my fave’s box! I had the pleasure of putting it together with Wejo the founder, and including some of my absolute favorite green beauty products. From a favorite mask of mine to hair spray, to eyeshadow, and even some organic bamboo facial rounds. I’ve got a little of everything. These products have all been tried and true for me and are ones I grab for all the time. I hope you love them as much as I do! If you aren’t familiar with Glowing Beets keep reading for more insight into why I love this monthly green beauty box.
Why Glowing Beets? Well, for starters they include high quality indie brands and they make it so simple. Their website alone is so easy to navigate and browse. They have one box, it’s $29.95-a steal for high end green beauty products. The boxes are all the same, but may vary slightly. For ex. some boxes may get a different lipstick color, but they’re all from the same brand. All boxes are shipped at the end of the month once you’re a subscriber, and if you order during the month it will be shipped out within a few days, up until the 15th of the month. You can sign up for one box, otherwise you will be billed monthly.
I love the concept of Glowing Beets for those who are new to the green beauty scene. They give you a good selection of products, so you’re able to test them out without making a big commitment at first. They also offer special discounts to those brands if you do like them-how cool is that?! Glowing Beets does the research for the best product so you don’t have too. They include a card in each box that lists what the products are. I have received two boxes from them and I’ve loved each of them!
Let’s get on to the review!
Kokoleka, how I love you! This mask is something special. I love how Leah describes it on the bottle, a “Ritual Dessert Facial Mask”…can you say yum?! First let’s talk scent. It’s very similar to the Cleansing Powder, smells like sweet coconut, but with a chocolate twist because of the cacao-I so dig it! This mask is different than the Meli Glow. Kokoleka is meant to detoxify and purify your skin. It comes in a powder form, and is activated when you add water. I use a small ceramic bowl and brush, and apply it liberally all over my face. Don’t add too much water, you want it to be a thick creamy texture. I applied too much water the first time, and it was more soupy. It does harden but not like a typical clay mask that drys your skin out. This one isn’t drying at all! Your skin feels smooth and radiant. I visibly notice a difference in my skin every time I use it. I’m convinced everyone needs this! $68
This is my current love and most recent hairspray find. I had heard a ton about Josh’s products but was a little reluctant to try. I mean, everyone always promises the moon and the stars. I had to see for myself. Well, let’s just say this baby did not disappoint. First off, I love the smell! It has a list of essential oils but the ones that stick out to me are the rosemary and lavender. I love knowing exactly what I’m breathing in, no hidden fragrance! Second, it doesn’t goop up when you spray. It actually has a mist feel(but a good mist obviously), and it’s not an aerosol. Yeah, pretty cool. Lastly, it just works. With my hair being fine and thin, this product delivers hold throughout the day, volume, and doesn’t get crunchy…you know what I’m talking about. It’s just good stuff. I would recommend this for anyone transitioning from a mainstream hairspray. It’s going to give you the look and feel of what your used too. You need it, trust me! (Gluten free) $15
To say I’m obsessed with these little guys would be an understatement! They have the coolest Etsy shop and carry anything from reusable paper towels, reusable nursing pads, cloth baby wipes and even reusable bags…and more! I had been searching for a reusable facial round but hadn’t found any organic ones. My search ended with Marley’s Monster’s organic bamboo facial rounds. Why do I like them? Well, for starters they aren’t these small little facial rounds but a good 3″ wide. Large enough to remove all my eye makeup and use the other side for toning. The bamboo material makes them so soft and I just love how they’re organic! No chemicals leaching into my eye area-one of the most permeable areas of your skin. You can purchase a small mesh bag to store them in or a wooden cube(they’re so cool) on their site as well. I just used a small bag I had from The Detox Market. I hang it on my shelf and store the dirty ones in there, and then once a week I wash them. You save money too! No more buying cotton rounds every month. I have my eye on so many other products from Marley’s Monsters…my green heart loves their whole eco and sustainable concept. $16
Wow, where do I start?! This is a big statement but these are definitely one of my favorite eyeshadows I’ve used. I know, they’re that great. Why do I like them so much?? Well, for starters they stay…the whole day. In my transition over to green beauty products the hardest thing to find was makeup that lasted. Sure, people could make products that were clean but would they stay on the whole day…that was the hard part. That’s why I get so excited when I not only find a clean product but a product that is clean and has longevity. The eyeshadows are a loose powder but highly pigmented. I could add a lot of pigment or dub it down, depending on the look. But at the end of the day, they looked just as good as they did in the morning…I’m serious guys! I sampled the colors Chiffon, Dreams and Sunlit Brown and I loved them all. Dreams was perfect for highlighting under my eyebrow, along my brow bone and in the inner corners of my eyes. Trust me, you all need these! $20
