December Beauty Heroes Discovery: Khus Khus+Kari Gran Holiday

December Beauty Heroes Discovery: Khus Khus+Kari Gran Holiday

This month the December Beauty Heroes Discovery: Khus Khus is in the house!  I was thrilled to see this brand in the box this month.  I’ve tried them before and couldn’t wait to sample more of their skin treats.  I also wanted to share about the Beauty Heroes Holiday Discovery- Kari Gran.  It just launched on Beauty Heroes website last Friday and it’s so good!  I’m sharing more details with you below.  If you aren’t familiar with Beauty Heroes, keep reading to see why I love it!

Beauty Heroes was founded by Jeannie Jarnot.  A longtime spa director herself and healthy beauty expert.  I had the pleasure of meeting Jeannie at IBE, and she is truly one of the sweetest people.  Beauty Heroes is a monthly beauty service that selects only the best clean beauty brands.  Each month you can find one to two full size truly heroic products in each box.  The products typically range from skincare to haircare products.  However, every 3 months Beauty Heroes offers a makeup box as well that’s optional for members or non-members.  I absolutely love their “Use Less, Love More” philosophy.  By only getting one or two products, you allow yourself to truly experience them.  Of course you can trust their picks, as they are strict on their integrity standards.  What’s not to love about this whole concept?  As a Beauty Heroes Ambassador, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of such a movement.

Thoughts on Khus Khus Bleu Body Wax-

Can I be honest, I really thought I had tried all the body oils/lotions out there…then I tried this body wax by Khus+Khus and I was quickly mistaken.  This stuff is pure luxury.  First off it smells amazing.  I’m not into super fragrant products and this product is the perfect balance.  With ingredients of blue tansy, and blue yarrow this wax is perfect for helping with inflamed skin, as both are anti-inflammatory.  I received this at the best time.  I had just fallen on some ice and sprained my elbow.  The Blue Tansy is especially great for bringing relief to tired sore muscles, strains, etc.  I started to apply it daily, sometimes twice a day.  I would apply at night, because that is when it would start to ache, since I wasn’t moving it.  I can honestly say it felt looser and more limber while using it.  Also, if you have eczema or irritated skin, this is a great was to soothe your skin. A little goes a long way.  It instantly absorbs into your skin, no greasy feeling and leaves you hydrated the whole day.  I have to say the wax is really more of an experience from start to finish.  It awakens me in the morning and soothes me at night.  I can’t get enough!  Plus, can we talk about the luxe packaging?  It’s housed in a dark glass jar.

Thoughts on Khus Khus Sans Age-

This facial serum is so luxurious.  It smells amazing first off!  The rosehip and Chamomile in it are so fresh and vibrant.  I love the ingredients too. Simple, yet powerful. I really loved seeing Helichrysum oil in the serum.  It’s long been noted to have anti-inflammatory activity, as well as lymph drainage and detoxification properties.  Really just a home run when it comes to a facial oil ingredient!  The formula is slighty blue tinted from the blue tansy.  It absorbs quickly into the skin and leaves my skin feeling so balanced and hydrated.  Loved waking up to clear, even skin!  I’ve been using this on the daily and can’t get enough.  Very impressed with the results so far and exited to continue using it!

Kari Gran Holiday Discovery-

This is a special holiday box that will only be available while supplies last- so definitely get on it while there’s still some left!  It features Kari Gran’s newest product The Essential Balm and a tinted Lip Whip in either Jolene, Suji Red, or Jeannie.  The Essential Balm really keeps with Kari Gran’s mission and ethos to only use what you need and to keep things simple.  I love that about their brand.  This balm can be used for so many things.  From a facial moisturizer, to an eye balm, a cleansing balm and even a primer.  Really it’s what you make of it and what works for you.  It has incredible texture and feel.  A little more slip than a traditional balm and almost melts into your hand when applying it.  I can’t wait to take this on my next trip!  It really would be all you need.  Did I mention the color?  A bright yellow and the smell- I get notes of calendula and jasmine.  I’m totally into this new product and can’t wait to keep finding new ways to use it!

You all know I’m a huge fan of Kari Gran Lip Whips!  I can’t get enough.  These little jars of goodness are seriously so decadent.  One of the few things that really keep my lips moisturized.  So really getting a tinted Lip Whip is the best of both worlds!  You not only get hydrated lips but some serious moisture-sign me up!  I received the color Jolene- a berry hued lip that makes a statement.  I can’t get enough!  Such a perfect color for the holidays!  Grab your Kari Gran Holiday Discovery here!

September Beauty Heroes Discovery: Skin Owl

September Beauty Heroes Discovery: Skin Owl

September Beauty Heroes Discovery- Skin Owl is in the house!  As always, I’m so excited to get my Beauty Heroes Box each month.  This month we had the pleasure of trying out Skin Owl’s new Beauty Drops PM Maqui Berry.  We also got to sample their Beauty Whip Maqui Berry.  I couldn’t wait to test out both of them!  If you aren’t familiar with Beauty Heroes keep reading to find out why this beauty box takes the cake!

Ok, on to the review!

This month the heroic product came from Skin Owl.  I was thrilled to see them in the box.  Skin Owl was one of the first green beauty skincare brands that I tried.  Their Geranium Oil literally saved my skin.  I had the pleasure of sitting next to the founder of Skin Owl, Annie Tevlin last year at Indie Beauty Expo in L.A. and I was so taken by her kindness and smile.  She truly cares for her customers and has a heart of gold.  If anyone knows about troubled skin it’s Annie.  She suffered from acne for years and literally tried everything.  Out of her own struggles Skin Owl was birthed.  Not only does she know the emotional toll acne takes on a person but also what works to get rid of it.

Skin Owl's Beauty Drops Maqui Berry is great for lackluster skin, acne and perfect for hydrating skin.

If you’ve been following Skin Owl you know that before Maqui Berry Beauty Drops PM, there was Mangosteen.  Unfortunately, Annie had to make a hard decision when she realized the Mangosteen didn’t meet her sustainability standards. She could either continue using it or discontinue her product.  So, she set out to find something to not only replace the Mangosteen berry but go above and beyond what it did.  Well, I think she hit the nail on the head!  The Maqui Berry is a highly potent anti-inflammatory berry that not only soothes acne, but also rosacea, and hyper-pigmentation. Now you not only get a super dose of antioxidants with the Maqui Berry, but also the same base of organic baobab, that eases redness, and smooths skin texture.  This mighty fruit is sourced from Chile, where the Mapuche Indians praise it for it’s anti-inflammatory benefits.

So what was my take on the new formula of Beauty Drops PM?  Well, let me first start with the smell.  I LOVE the scent!  It is a subtle mix of citrus and vanilla.  I almost want to wear it as a perfume!  It isn’t overwhelming.  Mangosteen for me personally before was a little too sweet smelling.  This new formula is just dreamy.  It still has the same consistency as the previous oil.  It feels heavier like you would expect but not greasy in any way.  The oil literally sinks right into your skin.  Hydrating it and leaving behind a silky smooth complexion when you touch your face. I love how it makes my skin feel.  I not only wear this at night, but also in the morning before my makeup application.  The formula is so good!  On the bottle it says it helps improve lackluster skin- I couldn’t think of a better term than that!  It really makes skin shine from within and brings it back to life.

Skin Owl's Beauty Whip is not only a skin hydrator but also primer!

The sidekick this month is Beauty Whip Maqui Berry.  The maqui berry in the Beauty Whip is in powder form.  This product can be used as a mask, primer before makeup, and a cream or lotion for dehydrated skin.  Really the possibilities are endless.  It feels like a rich, buttery cream.  Annie, the founder of Skin Owl, recommends refrigerating it for best results.  I’ve found this to be true!  I also was surprised when I used it as a primer- I never would have thought of that but love it.  It creates such a smooth canvas for makeup application.  I’ve also worn it as a mask and left if on for 30 minutes and afterwards my skin is silky and so hydrated.  You can even apply it after your Beauty Drops at night for an extra surge of hydration.  Plus, I love that it comes in a glass pump bottle- so convenient for travel!

This month was another winner from Beauty Heroes!

I would hop on this month’s Beauty Heroes Box if you haven’t signed up- it’s a good one and it’s going to go fast!  I say it each time, but the value of Beauty Heroes is crazy good!  This month alone the value is $113!!  When you sign up for Beauty Heroes you’re getting it for about $38.33 a month!  I mean what are you waiting for?!  Sign up here!

Also, this month be sure to check out the Beauty Heroes Beauty Store.  Full of past heroic products and a ton of other green beauty must have items.  If you’re already a member of Beauty Heroes you always get 15% off in the Beauty Store.  Every month Beauty Heroes offers a Love More Promotion.  This offer is for non-members and members.  September’s Love More Promotion is with two Heroes from Red Flower’s Nature Collection. Love More gift is automatically added to your cart with purchase of $125+.

Glowing Beet’s February Box Review

Glowing Beet’s February Box Review

Ok, who’s ready for Spring?!  I was ready yesterday.  This cold weather has me craving warmer weather and longer days.  Thankfully, March is officially here and I can almost taste Spring.  February’s Glowing Beet’s Box reminded me of spring scents and glossy lips.  For now that will have to do.  The box was filled with some seriously hydrating body butter, body oil and a cute makeup bag and lipgloss.  Oh and I can’t forget an eye serum-um have I mentioned I have two kids, two and under?  Yeah, give me all the eye cream/serums!  Before I dive into this box, let me share with you what Glowing Beet’s is all about.

Why Glowing Beets?  Well, for starters they include high quality indie brands and they make it so simple.  Their website alone is so easy to navigate and browse.  They have one box, it’s $29.95-a steal for high end green beauty products.  The boxes are all the same, but may vary slightly.  For ex. some boxes may get a different lipstick color, but they’re all from the same brand.  All boxes are shipped at the end of the month once you’re a subscriber, and if you order during the month it will be shipped out within a few days, up until the 15th of the month.  You can sign up for one box, otherwise you will be billed monthly.

I love the concept of Glowing Beets for those who are new to the green beauty scene.  They give you a good selection of products, so you’re able to test them out without making a big commitment at first.  They also offer special discounts to those brands if you do like them-how cool is that?!  Glowing Beets does the research for the best products so you don’t have too.  They include a card in each box that lists what the products are.

Ok, onto the review!

Rachel’s Plan Bee

Body Butter-

I’ve wanted to try Rachel’s Plan Bee products for a while now, so I was excited to see them in this month’s Glowing Beet’s Box.  This organic body butter is rich and decadent.  It smells of citrus and grapefruit but isn’t overwhelming at all.  I really like the scent!  I applied it after I got out of the shower and my skin soaked it right up.  My skin felt soft and moisturized but not greasy.  It looks like a rich buttercream frosting in the container-something I can wrap my head around!  Body frosting needs to be a thing…or maybe it already is?? Either way this body butter is a serious skin treat.

Body Oil-

Rachel’s Plan Bee Body Oil is such a complement to the body butter.  I actually applied the body oil before the body butter for the ultimate hydration experience.  The oil soaks right into the skin.  My skin feels moist but not greasy.  The scent is very similar to the body butter except instead of citrus and grapefruit, it’s citrus and vanilla.  Such a pleasant scent!  I love that it comes in a smaller bottle too-great for travel.  My skin felt hydrated the whole day-especially with this cold winter.

HAN Lip Gloss-

I’ve tried a few of HAN’s products and have really liked their eyeshadows and lip and cheek tints.  This is the first time I’m sampling their lip gloss. I got the color in Nude Rose- the perfect subtle mauve color, and a great everyday color-seriously would go with anything.  I love the consistency of the gloss.  It has shine to it but isn’t goopy.  A great formula for wearing to work and not drawing every eye in the building-if you know what I mean!  You may also get the gloss in Raspberry Chardonnay- a bright poppy pink color.  They’re both so pretty and not overly stated-something I love in a lip gloss.

Boho Chic Cosmetic’s Makeup Bag-

It was so fun getting a makeup bag in the box!  It’s the perfect size for a purse-not too big or bulky.  Their makeup bags are handmade with organic fabric- a serious eco luxe bag!  The patterns are so pretty and the colors so vivid and bright.  Such a nice addition to the February box!

Freerange Skincare Aloe & Cucumber Eye Serum-

Last month Freerange had their hand lotion in the box.  This month it’s all about their eye serum.  The eye serum couldn’t have come at a better time!  This mama could use a little lift in the eye department.  A 6 month old and 2 year old don’t stop and sometimes I’m burning the candle at both ends.  This eye serum can be worn alone or under makeup.  It feels cooling when you apply it and smells like cucumbers-an instant pick me up in the morning!  With only a handful of ingredients, one of them is a free range egg white.  It’s interesting to see an egg white in an egg serum but there’s good reason why they put it in there!  Here’s a quote from their website about using egg white as an ingredient-

Egg Whites from well-cared for hens are a natural astringent -they contain nutrients that tone and tighten delicate under eye skin and provides instant impact.

Pretty cool to realize nature has so many nutrients to help even with our delicate eye area!  Excited to continue using this and see brighter and more restful eyes.

That sums up my Glowing Beet’s February Box Review!  See anything you need to try?  Well, if you haven’t signed up then get on it!  This box always offers a little variety, from skincare, hair products, and makeup.  Check out Glowing Beet’s here and use code GGG10 for 10% off your first box!

Glowing Beets Beauty Box Review

Glowing Beets Beauty Box Review

When Glowing Beets contacted me about reviewing their beauty box, I was pretty excited!  What is a beauty box?  It’s carefully selected beauty products ranging from skin care, makeup, hair products, nail products and so on…you get the picture.  You get this goodie box monthly, and best of all with a Glowing Beets Beauty Box, all the products are clean and green!  So you don’t have to worry about getting a side of toxins with any product.

The October box is the one I’ll be reviewing today and it’s a good one.

Shea Terra Organics-

miniminiwhip.jpg

I had never heard of this brand before getting their shea butter in my Glowing Beets Box-but I am huge fan now.  I scoured their website too and they offer everything from baby and mama care, to face care and body care.  I was so impressed with their sourcing.  Shea Terra Organics sources the most potent, organic and wild harvested ingredients from across Africa.  This pristine environment, little tainted by modern pollution, grows some of the safest, unchanged botanical ingredients on earth. Unwilling to compromise, Shea Terra Organics uses whole herbs for its potent, synergistic benefits.  This shea butter smells like the tropics-a perfect blend of lime and coconut.  It melts right into your skin and leaves behind no greasy residue.  It’s pack full of all the good stuff too!  Aloe vera, pumpkin seed oil, shea butter and essential oils.  The 10z. jar is the perfect size to take on a trip too.  You guys need to check out their stuff!  They also have so many other tantalizing scents available.  $6

Sally B’s Skin Yummies B Glossy Lip Gloss-

b-glossy-w-out-red_1024x1024.jpg

This lip gloss smells so insanely good!  The peppermint oil in it is so soothing and refreshing.  I received the color Sweet Plum.  It’s a great nude color with a hint of plum.  You can put it on thick or just add a touch over your favorite lipstick.  The ingredients are top notch and so minimal.  I had never heard of Sally B’s before Glowing Beets either.  The gloss itself is gluten free, non-gmo, and so hydrating!  It’s also isn’t goopy either likes some glosses.  It provides the perfect pop of shine and color.  They also carry skin care products, body products and even offer facials if you’re in the Atlanta, Georgia area.  Check out more of their gloss colors online.  $18

Herbivore Travel Mist Texturizing Salt Spray-

HB_SeaMist_Coconut_SeaSalt_BeachWaveHairMist_2oz_02.jpg

Ohh…sort of in love with this product!  It smells like Hawaii in a nutshell-no joke.  It’s pure coconut goodness.  It’s meant to give you texture and enhance waves.  For those with curly hair, it enhances what you already have and for those with straight hair it brings some wave and texture to your hair.  I would curl my hair then spray this on and loosely scrunch my hair.  My hair would smell like a dream the whole day, and then the next day all I would have to do is spray a few squirts all over, scrunch and voila…instant beachy/tousled hair.  You all need this.  I love that this comes in a travel size too.  I’ve been eyeing so many of Herbivore’s products.  They offer everything from hair, skin, body, and even stuff for the man in your life.  They also have the sea salt spray in lavender if coconut isn’t your thing.  Check them out! $12

Indie Lee Brightening Cleanser-

brightening-cleanser-460.jpg

This cleanser has so many uses.  From makeup remover to exfoliant-even a brightening mask.  It has a hint of strawberry to the scent.  What I love about this cleanser is I can literally use it to remove all my makeup-yes even eye makeup, and there is no stinging!  It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry, unlike many gel cleansers.  I really feel this cleanser is named appropriately…it really does brighten my skin.  Especially after using it as a mask.  It does contain gluten…in case you you are allergic or try, and avoid it in skin care products.  It does contain Phenoxyethanol-which is used as a preservative in cosmetics, however much reseaerch has been done on the effects of Phenoxyethanol on animals and they have concluded that it can cause neurotoxin damage and can be an irritant or allergen to some. I did call Indie Lee and spoke with one of the co-owners who was very pleasant and willing to answer any of my questions about their products.  She did say that the percentage in the cleanser is .5% or less, and the phenoxyethanol that they use is from green tea extract and is not synthetic.  As in all ingredients labels, the first ingredients are the ones most contained in a product, as the ingredients toward the bottom are the ones least contained.  So it is a small amount and and it’s a cleanser, so in essence you are only having it on your skin for a short period before washing it off.  I think in the grand scheme of things this is not a huge deal when it comes to other ingredients.  However, I probably would not re-purchase just for the fact I would be using a lot of it over time.  This is just my opinion.  $32

Indie Lee Squalene Facial Oil-

squalane-oil-460_1.jpg

This is a facial oil from Indie Lee as well.  It contains Squalene Oil, which can be derived from several sources.  One is Shark liver, the other is synthetically or from vegetable sources.  I was so excited to hear that Indie Lee sources their squalene from the olives from Spain-how cool is that?  This oil feels so good on you skin.  One of the reasons I believe it feels so natural is because our skin naturally produces squalene oil.  It helps protect from environmental toxins and helps to keep moisture levels intact.  I loved putting this on at night and waking up with soft skin.  My skin just drank it up.  Oh and did I mention the only ingredient in this oil is Squalene??  That’s it!  One more reason you guys need to snag this up. $32

Indie Lee Co-Q10 Toner-

coq10-460.jpg

This toner has the coveted antioxidant Co-Q10, known for it’s anti-aging properties.  It’s a hydrating toner and helps to prep your skin for serums.  It’s alcohol free which I love too.  It does have Phenoxyethanol  in it as I mentioned earlier in the post under Indie Lee’s Brightening Cleanser.  Again, I don’t have a problem using this up, but not one I would pick up again and again because of the Phenoxyethanol.  $3

Phew, this was a long review!  I just received my November box and I’m so excited to share it with you guys next month.  But if you made it this far in the review you get a serious reward!  Sign up for your first Glowing Beets Box and get 30% off using code GG30!  Check their site out here.  Don’t miss out on this amazing deal and beauty box! Have you guys heard of Glowing Beets?
