I haven’t written a post like this but every now and then I’m going too. I love reading other people’s thoughts. It definitely inspires me and it’s always good to get another perspective other than your own.
My thoughts this post are in regards to the New Year. I know it’s technically not the “New Year” but being so close to the New Year, everything is still so fresh. What started me down this pondering path was my husband…the good soul he is. He played the song, “I Lived” by One Republic. If you haven’t heard it, have a listen below…you may make it your theme song for 2015 as I have.
Anyways, it really has stuck with me. The basis of the song is to say at the end of your life that you “lived”, that you did all you could do. It talks about living every second and knowing at the end you could say you’ve done it all. Besides good lyrics, it has a good beat. It made me realize how many excuses I make in my life, and how I’m the only one standing between me and my dreams. So often I excuse myself because I think I’m not good enough, not pretty enough, not worthy enough, not thin enough, not knowledgeable enough, not popular enough, etc…you get the picture. Aren’t you just tired of doing this self loathing?! I know I am.
The truth is if we wait for perfection, then we’ll be waiting forever…and ever. Today is the day, the time is now, make the most of it. Instead of making more excuses of why I can’t fully live the life I want, I’m going to start saying why not me and why not now! The world needs me and you, after all there is only one you and one me. I can either make everyday a day to move closer to my dreams and truly living or I can take a step back. I don’t know about you but I’m moving forward.
I encourage you to live your life to the fullest this year! If you’ve been wanting to play an instrument but have never signed up for a lesson, do it! If you’ve always wanted to be a baker, start baking. If you want to write a novel, get that pen and paper. Let’s commit to stop making excuses and start “Living” our lives!
One month down…11 more to go. Let’s do this!
What’s something you’ve been wanting to do but been making excuses for? Tell me in the comments below!
