Green Baby/Toddler Product

Since becoming a mama a whole new world of products and gadgets has opened up to me.  Trust me, if you haven’t had a kiddo yet, just wait.  There is a lot of information out there on what’s great, but a lot of it isn’t “green.”  I had to really find out what is green, and actually works.  After being a mama now for a year, and wading through some of the not so great stuff, I’ve found some awesome products that meet my green standard!  And of course, I must share them with all of you. (Ok, so some of you may not have a baby/toddler, but surely you know someone who does or maybe you will in the future).  I’ll have future posts on all my finds, and current must haves for baby…so stay tuned!

Squeasy Silicone Reusable Food Pouch-

I searched and searched for this puppy and I’m so glad I found it!  We’ve all seen the plastic food pouches nowadays??  I’m mean they’re hard not to miss, they even have them at Starbucks these days!  You screw off the top, and this pureed stuff comes oozing out and kids love it.  There are a couple issues I have with them.  One I don’t like that I can’t see what’s inside them.  And two they are made from plastic and even though they say BPA free on the packages, do we really know what other alternative they’re coating the inside with?  Plus, if those babies sit in the sun at all..which I’m sure they do then their soaking in all that chemical lining.  Umm…no thanks!  So, I get that they’re convenient and easy, trust me, I do.  And it’s not to say I will never buy one in a pinch, because I have.  But not on a regular basis at all.  But I was on a quest to find something similar, especially for busy mamas, I wanted a “green” alternative.  Now, I know they have a lot of re-usable pouches out there, but the bottom line is they’re still plastic.  And re-using the same plastic over and over isn’t the best anyways.  So… in came the Squeasy Food Pouch.  I love that it’s made from 100% food grade silicone, a non-toxic alternative to plastic, and that it comes with a top you can close.  It also has a no spill insert that is great for keeping things where they’re supposed to be…if ya know what I mean.  You can also remove the insert if you want it to be free flowing.  It’s super easy to clean as well.  Just turn it inside out, or put it in the top rack of your dish washer.  I fill mine with smoothies, yogurt, pureed veggies, and applesauce.  They come in a snacker size which is 3.5oz. or a larger 6oz. size.  Oh and did I mention how much money you will save by buying these once, instead of packs all the time?!

ECOlunchbox Kid’s Tray-

I got this stainless steel tray not too long ago, but it’s quickly become a staple at meal time for us.  I love that it’s not plastic of course and that it has 3 divided spots.  It’s also non-leaching, dishwasher safe and doesn’t retain stains, odors or residues.  Helps me to teach Finley where food goes, but if she throws it, it’s not going to break!

Silicone Reusable Drinking Straws-

I absolutely love these little guys!  I have been teaching Finley how to drink from a straw and these are perfect.  When she isn’t using her Squeasy Pouch for smoothies I’ll have her drink out of one of these straws.  Why do I love them??  Well, for starters they’re wider than normal straws, and the top part comes off.  Both of these things make them super easy to clean!  I haven’t had any issues getting smoothie particles out of them, and I love that I can see what’s inside them so much better because they are bigger.  Not to mention they aren’t plastic, but made out of 100% food grade silicone!  Trust me, you need these in your life.

Lifefactory Bottles and Sippy Cups-

These are amazing inventions.  I love that they are a bottle, but then also can be turned into a sippy cup, I mean who doesn’t love a multi-use product?!  Just take the bottle nipple off, and replace it with a sippy cup lid.  Easy peasy! They are made out of glass, which is wonderful, but you may be thinking slightly dangerous?  Have no fear, they have this protective silicone sleeve on the outside of the bottle which makes them almost indestructible!  My daughter drops it all the time…no breakage.  These a no brainer, just get them!

Sweet Baby Carrot Baby Spoons-

A definite winner all around, these little silicone spoons are the perfect starter spoon for babes.  They’re made from silicone, have an easy to use design that maximizes comfort for baby, and they’re dish washer safe.  What more could you want??

Dr. Bronner Unscented Organic Castile Soap-

I’ve been using this on Finley since she was born.  It’s the perfect soap for babies because it’s unscented, and contains only a handful of ingredients.  Her skin is clean, but not with all the harsh chemicals out there in mainstream baby soaps.  Not to mention it’s organic, and doesn’t dry out her skin.  We buy the 32oz. size and it lasts us forever!

Emily’s Baby and Adult Skin Soother-

I just really love this stuff…period.  It contains 5 ingredients, and it works!  Flat out.  It’s great for diaper rashes, eczema and any dry/rough patch your babe may have.  I’ve used this on my daughter’s face and bum..worked like a charm!  A must get for any mama.
