I can’t believe it’s already mid-February! This new year is going by so quick! I was determined to get the review for Glowing Beet’s up as soon as I could. I got the box a little late so wanted to test out the product before I wrote my review. The box was filled with some Freerange Lavender Hand and Body Lotion, a rosehip highlighter by Scandic Botanica, a Modicum skincare set and some David’s toothpaste. If you’re not familiar with Glowing Beet’s then check out the next paragraph where I fill you in on this monthly subscription box!
Why Glowing Beets? Well, for starters they include high quality indie brands and they make it so simple. Their website alone is so easy to navigate and browse. They have one box, it’s $29.95-a steal for high end green beauty products. The boxes are all the same, but may vary slightly. For ex. some boxes may get a different lipstick color, but they’re all from the same brand. All boxes are shipped at the end of the month once you’re a subscriber, and if you order during the month it will be shipped out within a few days, up until the 15th of the month. You can sign up for one box, otherwise you will be billed monthly.
I love the concept of Glowing Beets for those who are new to the green beauty scene. They give you a good selection of products, so you’re able to test them out without making a big commitment at first. They also offer special discounts to those brands if you do like them-how cool is that?! Glowing Beets does the research for the best products so you don’t have too. They include a card in each box that lists what the products are.
So let’s get on with the review of this month’s goodies!
Scandic Botanica Rosehip Highlighter-
This highlighter is so unique compared to anything else I’ve used in the past as a highlighter. It actually doesn’t have any shimmer or sparkle in it. It gives you more of a fresh dewy look, opposed to a shimmer that you might be used too. It’s also a lot more emollient than any highlighter I’ve used in the past too. The whole packaging is very eco friendly and the wax stamped top is so cute. I love the ingredient list! Super simple and clean. This is great on bare skin, mixed in with your foundation a bit or just applied over it.
Freerange Skincare Lavender Hand and Body Lotion-
This lotion was an extra in this month’s box since it was late. I love that they use eggs made from their free range hens-how cool! The lotion isn’t super heavy and quickly melts right into your skin. It holds it’s moisture for a while and leaves behind a pleasant lavender smell-nothing too strong. A nice add in!
Modicum Travel Skincare Set-
It was nice trying out a good amount of skincare from a company. You can really get a feel for their products. I really like how the cleanser is a mild foaming cleanser but isn’t too harsh and doesn’t dry out my skin. You get that clean feeling minus the dryness. The exfoliant is unique in that it comes in powder form and you mix a couple pumps of the cleanser with it to form a paste. It left my skin feeling smooth and soft. It didn’t feel harsh at all either. A great mild exfoliant! The serum melts right into your skin, leaving behind no greasy residue. My skin felt so soft and hydrated. I also really liked how the products weren’t really strong smelling. They just smell earthy clean-if that is such a thing. The whole basis of Modicum Skincare is the power of plant based ingredients and their healing properties.
This toothpaste is a great alternative for people who are used to a tube toothpaste and want to get something similar but in the natural realm. It smells minty fresh! The packaging is cute and the toothpaste leaves your mouth feeling clean.
