Best Green Beauty Hair Styling Products

Ok, so let’s talk hair and dig deep into the Best Green Beauty Hair Styling Products!  It’s really a shame I don’t talk about it more- after all I am a cosmetologist!  I’ve had a love affair with hair since I can remember.  As a kid I was always playing dress up with my hair.  Then I became a teenager and it just escalated.  My senior year of high school they had this program where you could use your elective credit to go to cosmetology school- of course I signed up!  After I graduated high school I ended up graduating Cosmetology school two weeks later.  I’ve worked in salons, did hair all throughout college and even had my own place for a while.  I started off using conventional products of course because I didn’t know any better but as soon as I learned the dangers of them I made the switch!

Although I don’t do hair as a job anymore, I still do my family and close friends.  I also still notice people’s hair right away and often want to get my hands on it…haha what can I say-some things never change!  I’m always down for a good makeover sesh with anyone that’s willing. 🙂

So enough chit chat let’s get to the nitty gritty!  I’ve tried a ton of natural hair products and really wanted to show you guys how I achieve certain looks and how it is possible with clean products.  Yes, green products perform just as good as conventional ones- it might take a while to find them but eventually you do.  I also wanted to show you it’s possible with any hair type.  I have 3 sisters-so that’s 3 different heads of hair that I’ve worked with a lot besides my own.  And guess what?!  We all have different hair types…pretty crazy but true.  Let me break it down.

My Hair- Fine/Thin/Straight

1st Sister- Fine/Wavy/Frizzy/Thick

2nd Sister- Coarse/Wavy/Frizzy/Very Thick

3rd Sister- Fine/Straight/Very Thick

*Side note- You could say I got the shaft when it comes to good hair in my family! 😉

So I not only have tried product on myself but also on them.  Below you’ll find different looks I created using all clean products and what worked for each sister.  First I’m going to highlight my favorite hair products and then I’ll show you some looks! Also, I did an Instagram Live video the other week showing you how I curl my hair.  Here is the video below!

All Star Products/Tools:

Josh Rosebrook Hair Spray- Haven’t found one that performs better than this.  It holds my hair, isn’t sticky feeling, doesn’t weigh it down but gives it lift and smells great! (Works on everyone) Get your Josh Rosebrook Hair Spray here!

Josh Rosebrook Lift- This volume spray is great for spritzing on hair before you blow dry for added volume and lift.  I love spraying at the roots and using my fingers to tousle it through my hair before blow drying.  My sister with coarse hair doesn’t use this because she doesn’t have any issues with volume but my other two sisters use it for volume at the roots since their hair is fine and tends to lay flat against the head.  It isn’t going to give you as much grit in the roots like a mousse would but a nice lift.  Get your Lift spray here!

Josh Rosebrook Syling Cream- This such a good hair paste for adding definition after curling hair, and texture.  It also helps to calm my pesky hair fly aways at the top of my head from new mom regrowth- and all the moms said amen!  My hubs loves this too.  It gives his hair some hold but doesn’t look crunchy or wet and smells good!  I love when a product works for both my husband and myself.  Get your Styling Cream here!

Innersense Inner Peace Whipped Creme Texturizer- Love this stuff!  It’s really great for any hair type.  I use it on my hair after curling it to achieve a more messy, undone look and to give it a bit of hold.  It doesn’t weigh my hair down at all.  I also love it for hair that is naturally wavy like my sisters.  It instantly enhances their waves and creates some definition and hold. Get your Whipped Creme Texturizer here!

Innersense Harmonic Healing Oil- This oil is great for those with dry scalp.  One of my sisters tends to get a dry scalp, especially in the winter.  I gave her this to combat it.  Also, great for those with coarse hair that tends to frizz or if you’re hair is damaged due to color.

Innersense I Create Lift Mousse- Love, love, love this mousse!  It creates lift, and volume in my lifeless hair.  I also love that it adds texture and some grit.  The volume lasts all day too!  I can’t say enough about it.  I squirt a golf ball size amount in my hand and then rub it into hands and then hair.  Then I blow dry my hair for volume that lasts.  Snag your Innersense I Create Lift Mousse here!

Innersense Sweet Spirit Leave In- Conditioner- This is great for spraying on hair if you’re going to be out in the sun and you want to protect your hair.  Also, great as a detangler for kids and anyone with really thick hair. Grab your Leave In Conditioner here!

Innersense Quiet Calm Curl Control- This curl cream is great for applying to hair after you’ve towel dried it.  Apply it throughout and then use your fingers to scrunch as you blow dry or you can let it air dry.  It helps to define curls, eliminate frizz and give an overall smoothness to your hair.  If you have any frizz or wave to your hair this is a great option.  It’s great as a heat protectant too because it has rice bran oil and oat kernel extract both great heat protectants. Grab your Quiet Calm Curl Control here!

Innersense Inner Reflection Finish Polish- This polish is a great way to add some shine and light hold to the hair.  With It comes in a solid gel in a jar.  I just scoop a dime size amount out and rub between my fingers and apply to my hair from mid shaft to the ends.  It helps to smooth my dry ends and make my color pop.  Great for those with curly dry hair too that need some extra moisture or those with coarse hair that needs some frizz control.  Get your Inner Reflection Finish Polish here.

Captain Blankenship Mermaid Sea Salt Spray- This was my first green beauty sea salt spray and it was love at first spray!  It gives me the tousled beach waves and texture.  I love applying it after I have curled my hair for some definition.  It smells divine too!  I get notes of geranium and palmarosa.  This one has a little less hold than the Rahua salt spray if you’re curious what the difference is. Get your Mermaid Sea Salt Spray here!

Max Green Alchemy Scalp Rescue Texture Paste- This paste has been a fun discovery as of late.  It really lives up to it’s name.  It comes in a tube versus a jar like the Josh Rosebrook Styling Cream or the John Masters Hair Paste.  Great for a guy’s hair too!  I use it to add definition and some hold to my hair.  It smells of citrus but nothing too strong.  The product is pretty cool because you can reactivate it again by getting your hair slightly damp.  Snag your Scalp Rescue Texture Paste here!

John Masters Hair Paste- This is another great hair paste.  My hubs and I both use this on our hair.  It offers some texture and definition but doesn’t make your hair look wet or greasy.  I love putting a dime size amount in my hands and rubbing them together then applying it throughout my hair after curling for added texture.  It also helps calm down the post partum hair regrowth I’ve had from two daughters! The scent of the product isn’t strong either.  Has a subtle citrus and bergamot smell.  Get your John Masters Hair Paste here!

John Masters Hair Spray- This hair spray is a great alternative to conventional spray.  It comes in a pump form, not an aerosol.  It is bit more wet of a formula than the Josh Rosebrook hair spray.  I find myself using it on my daughter’s hair more because it’s less expensive and save the Josh Rosebrook for my hair.  ðŸ™‚ It comes in an 8 oz. bottle and is $24 and the Josh Rosebrook comes in a 4 oz. bottle and is the same price.  A little more bang for your buck!  Get the John Masters Hair Spray here!

Honest Beauty Heat Defense Spray- I’ve been searching for a good heat protectant spray for a long time and I finally found one!  This is a legit heat protectant spray.  I haven’t been able to find one in green beauty until now.  I spray it on my hair when it’s towel dried before I blow dry.  It doesn’t make my hair feel crunchy or greasy either and protects hair up to 450!  Snag your Honest Heat Defense Spray here!

Honest Beauty Honestly Polished Dry Condition + Shine Serum- I haven’t found a hair serum in green beauty that doesn’t grease up my hair until I found this one.  It offers hydration but it feels weightless.  Especially great for those with frizzy hair or colored hair that has dried out ends(me).  It helps to add some weightless shine and moisture. I had just a few drops to my hands and rub them together then apply mid shaft down. Get your Dry Condition Serum here!

Rahua Enchanted Island Salt Spray- This spray is all about those beach waves.  I always love trying hair products that give hair some texture, while at the same time giving some hold and this product does just that.  I curled my hair with a 1 inch curling iron and then combed the curls out and sprayed the spray all over, scrunching up as I sprayed.  It helped create more texture in my hair and made it more piecey looking.  Plus, it gives a great hold, without looking crispy.  The smell is so good too- takes you to the beach!  I even sprayed it in my hair without curling it and loved the texture it gave it.  A definite must have product for the summer but even year round!  It’s been on repeat in my hair routine.  Grab your Enchanted Island Salt Spray here!

Shea Moisture Coconut Hibiscus Hold & Shine Daily Moisture Mist- width= This mist is great for thick coarse hair.  It gets rid of frizz and replaces it with a shine.  You can use it on damp or dry hair. I really like this for my two sisters with wavy/frizzy hair.  It helps to calm the frizz and seal the hair cuticle so it looks smooth.  A great budget friendly pick too!

Dry Shampoos- I’m a mom and therefore I need my dry shampoo-like a kid needs their blankey!  Yeah, it’s a must.  I did a whole post on all my favorites.  I have something for every budget and hair type-yes even you brunettes!  Obviously dry shampoo is a must for extending your hair style but it’s also great for adding a little extra volume to any style.  I use it often even if my hair has just been washed.  It gives it just enough texture and volume.  Check out my list of fave dry shampoos here.

Conair Teasing Hair Brush width= So I’m picky about my teasing brush too.  I love a good teasing brush!  I tease my hair nearly everyday…and no I’m not in the 80’s but this girl needs some volume at her roots!  A lot of people tease with a comb, but I find I get much more volume with a brush. It gives me lasting body all day.  Here’s my fave brush.

Curling Iron/Flat Iron- I really like Babyliss tools BaBylissPRO Flat Iron width=.  I also like Hot Tools Spring Grip Iron 85 Watt 1/2″ Mini HTL1103 width= to curl my hair.  I recommend if you have shoulder length or shorter to stick with a Hot Tools 1181 Professional Spring Curling Iron, 1 Inch width= for thicker hair and 1/2 inch for thinner/finer hair.  The smaller the barrel the better your curl will stay- so good for fine haired gals.  Once you’re done curling you can just use your fingers to comb through but if you use too large a barrel then you might not get enough hold in your curl.  I also have a one inch wand by GVP.

Shampoo/Conditioner- So I have another post dedicated to my fave shampoos and conditioners but if you’re wanting to know-here they are.  True Botanicals takes the cake for a shampoo and conditioner that legit cleans your hair and makes it feel bouncy and fresh.  I also love Innersense Beauty Shampoo and Conditioner-they’re great for color treated hair especially.  I’m also

So those are all the products and tools I use on a pretty consistent basis.  Below I have pics of styles I’ve created using these products.  Besides myself I also took some pics of two of my sisters with different styled looks.

Innersense I Create Lift Mousse  on the roots and all over to add some texture.  Then Honest Heat Protectant Spray.  for heat protectant.  Blow dry my hair upside down and use a brush to brush it downwards as I’m blowdrying for added volume.  Once done blow drying I use my teaser brush and tease the top section of my head for some added volume.  I also add some dry shampoo at this time too.  Then curl my hair leaving the ends out with a flat iron.  I’m always curling away from my face. Once done curling then I comb through the curls with my fingers so they look undone.  Then I spray in the Rahua Sea Salt Spray and use my hands to scrunch up with it all around.  Then I add a dime sized dollop of the Inner Peace Whipped Texturizer by Innersense Beauty.  And scrunch all around with it as well.  I also might take a few pieces here and there to define them a little more with the product.  Finally, I spritz with Hot Tools 1181 Professional Spring Curling Iron, 1 Inch style=“>Josh Rosebrook Hair Spray.

Straight hair on Sister #1 with Fine/Frizzy/Thick Hair-

Josh Rosebrook Lift Spray on Roots for added volume since she has fine hair-even though it’s thick. Then used Innersense Quiet Calm Curl Control from her mid shaft down to her ends for frizz control and heat protection.  I used a brush to lift the roots up throughout her hair as I blow dried.  Then once dry I spray on Shea Moisture Coconut & Hibiscus Hold & Shine Moisture Mist.  It helps to calm frizz as well and give a shine.  Then I flat ironed in sections.  Once done I spritzed it with Josh Rosebrook hair spray lightly.
