Best Green Beauty Shampoos and Conditioners

The Best Green Beauty Shampoos and Conditioners is here! I have all the details on all my favorite shampoos and conditioners in green beauty.  I’ve tried a lot of shampoos and conditioners in my day since going green and I’m here to share the best of the best!

Now just like my Best Green Beauty Hair Styling Products I had my sisters test out these shampoos too.  They all have different types of hair as I’ve mentioned and have helped me bring something for everyone to the table.

I want to explain something really quick before I go on about this wonderful shampoo.  I get e-mails all the time from readers telling me that natural shampoos don’t work for them.  Now, I understand it definitely depends on the shampoo and conditioner you’re using, but it also could be a phase you’re hair is going through.  Hair can go through a detox period where it actually gets oilier before it gets better, when transitioning to non-toxic shampoo and conditioner.  Mainstream products are full of such harsh ingredients that strip the hair every time you use them.  Your hair gets used to feeling “clean” you think, and so when you switch to a gentler shampoo and conditioner your hair freaks out.  It’s used to constantly being dried out everyday and used to overcompensating by producing more oil to nourish your hair again.  Give your hair 6-8 weeks to detox.  This means stop shampooing your hair everyday-yes this is not necessary and actually could cause more damage to your hair.  Shampoo every other day at the most and in between days if you get oily, just use a dry shampoo.  You may notice your hair greasier than usual, but that is because your hair’s ph balance was so wacked from all the harsh chemicals you were putting on it everyday.  Give it some time…it will get better!

DIY Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse

I always think a good clarifying treatment is in order every now and then.  Sometimes when using natural shampoos the hair gets weighed down, no matter how great they are!  This gives it a nice boost, getting rid of any residue that’s been hanging on to your strands.  I do this every couple weeks.  The recipe is easy just 1 part apple cider vinegar to 1 part water (I usually use 1/2 cup of each but you may need more if you have thick or long hair). Mix it together and pour over head concentrating on using your other hand to rub it in your hair.  Let it sit on your hair for 10 minutes.  Then rinse off and apply conditioner as usual.

True Botanical’s Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner-

If you’ve thought that no natural shampoo and conditioner will work for your hair, think again.  This shampoo suds up like a mainstream shampoo, but without the harsh chemicals.  The conditioner doesn’t leave that greasy oil residue either…you know that feeling I’m talking about!  Need, I say more?  Not really, but I will because I just can’t help myself!  It smells insanely good, fresh like everything they make does but not too much and completely natural- not synthetic fragrance.  It works on everyone’s hair too!  Ok, I’ve had one person tell me they didn’t like it but that’s it.  They also come in recyclable metal bottle pumps, that literally look so luxe in the shower.  I promise you won’t be disappointed, this stuff is amazing and worth every penny, and that says a lot coming from a stylist.  Get your shampoo and conditioner here!

Rahua Classic Shampoo and Conditioner-

This is the first natural shampoo I used and fell in love with!  It performs so well, and it’s filled with ingredients that will make you swoon!  Things like Ungurahua oil, green tea, jojoba and lavender just to name a few.  It doesn’t weigh down your hair at all.  But thoroughly cleans it perfectly.  Again, this is also safe for color treated hair.  It smells like a clean shampoo should…clean and amazing!  If you feel that all natural shampoos weigh down your hair and you haven’t found the “one” …this is it.  Trust me, you will not be disappointed.  Snag your Rahua shampoo and conditioner here!

Innersense Shampoo and Conditioner-

This shampoo collection really reminds me of a salon quality shampoo and conditioner.  The smell is nice and pleasant-with hints of cranberry seed oil, and citrus oils.  I just wet my hair and lather from roots to ends.  If you have thicker hair like my sister you may need to shampoo twice but for me once was perfect.  My hair felt clean and fresh!  It also is perfect for color treated hair.  The formula includes sunflower extracts-which are high in anti-oxidants that help protect color from fading.  A definite must for anyone looking for a natural shampoo, that is not only completely toxin free, and color safe, but works.  Among Innersense Beauty hair products is also a shampoo called Pure Harmony that’s suited for even cleansing, and purifying the scalp more than the Color Awakening.  The Pure Harmony is the one I recommend for fine/thin haired gals like myself.  It isn’t as heavy on my hair.  This is especially great after getting your hair colored for an extra boost of hydration.  They even have an intense hydrating shampoo line called Hydrating Cream Hairbath which is even more moisturizing for those with extra dry hair.  Snag your Innersense Shampoo and Conditioner here!

100% Pure Shampoos and Conditioners-

This is a new find and I’ve been loving them!  They get my hair clean and don’t weight it down.  They have different formulas for different hair types.  I really like the Kelp and Mint Shampoo and Conditioner for my fine/thin hair.  Really helps to get all the grime out and give me weightless volume.  The smell isn’t strong either!  Bonus- this shampoo and conditioner is a budget friendly pick!  At Pharmaca it’s usually on sale for $17 but then you can usually get an additional 20% off of that!  Bringing it down to $13 something- pretty good deal.  Check out the 100% Pure Shampoos and Conditioners here!

Evolvh Shampoo and Conditioner-

This is a new shampoo and conditioner for me.  I’ve been testing it out and have been super impressed with the overall formula.  My hair feels so bouncy and clean.  And the clean feeling lasts for days!  I get so much volume from this shampoo and conditioner, plus it foams a ton too!  I wasn’t sure if the scent was artificial or not at first when I smelled it.  So I contacted Evolvh and here is what they said.

Our scents contain isolated aroma molecules that are derived from a natural source. The molecules allow us to have a more concentrated and longer lasting scent. To isolate the molecules requires synthesis. Some would say this makes these components synthetic but they are not artificial as they are taken directly from the natural source, be it a plant, fruit, or flower.

I’m not chemically sensitive however, I am very aware of scents and don’t use anything synthetic.  I could smell my hair a lot more than usual, it dissipated the more the day went on.  For someone who is sensitive to scent this may be too much. Check out the Evolvh shampoo and conditioner here!

Flourish Shampoo and Conditioner-

This shampoo is awesome!  Plain and simple.  Can I be honest?  Whenever I get sent a natural shampoo and conditioner my hopes aren’t very high.  It’s hard to come by a good natural shampoo that performs.  Well, this shampoo did not disappoint!  Why is it so great?  Well, it actually cleans my hair for starters.  Not only does it feel clean, but it suds up when I use it, another huge perk.  With my hair being so fine and thin, if I don’t blow dry it and let it hair dry, I usually end up with greasy hair.  I have to blow dry it so it doesn’t feel greasy, and to give it volume.  However, with this shampoo I could let it air dry, and brush it out and no oily residue!  They have a variety of shampoos and conditioners for specific hair types.  I love the Patchouli and Tangerine for my find/thin hair.  The smell is just like the name suggests-patchouli and tangerine.  It’s a steal compared to a lot of the shampoos on the market today.  For $19, it’s hard to beat the price. Honest Beauty Truly Restored Shampoo and Conditioner-

This is a new favorite!  It smells nice and is great at cleaning my hair but also budget friendly!  My hair feels clean but not stripped.  It suds too!  They have another shampoo that is great for hydrating hair even more.  I haven’t tried it but I know my fine-thin hair probably wouldn’t be able to handle that much moisture without looking flat and greasy.  You can also bundle this shampoo and conditioner in the Honest Beauty bundle.  When you bundle at Honest, you get 3 products for $50- a definite steal!  Snag your Honest Beauty Shampoo and Conditioner here!
