I am sharing all the very best clean concealers after YEARS of testing different brands and products in the clean beauty world.
I get it, I once was there too. The thing is everyone looks for different things in their concealer. Some want an under-eye concealer and some want to hide imperfections.
And yes, under-eye concealers are a lot different than a concealer you want to use to cover your zit- just sayin’. I mean you can use a lot of under-eye concealers on your face too but you probably don’t want to use a lot of heavy concealers under your eyes.
So, I’m outlining the best concealers in clean beauty – including what they’re best at when concealing and how I use them.

What Is Concealer?
Concealer when it comes to the beauty industry is exactly what it sounds like. It helps to conceal some of those skin imperfections – like blemishes, age spots, redness, darkness under the eyes, dark spots, etc. Whereas foundation is more so meant to provide an even base for the rest of your makeup.
They can be used together, or not. But, the thing is, you want to make sure you are using the right kind of concealer and using it correctly to get the most out of your product. Plus, if used incorrectly your makeup won’t look natural and can end up looking cakey. No worries, I am sharing the best performing concealers that still use clean ingredients. Literally the best of both worlds!

Types of Concealers
There are different types of concealers and of course they are meant for different things. I’m going to share all the different formulas in hopes that it will help guide you on which one to get.
- Pencil Concealer– Helps to conceal blemishes, and good for on the go since it’s solid and less mess. Also, good for highlighting the face. Pencils offer a thicker consistency. They are similar to a cream concealer but in pencil form.
- Cream Concealer– The consistency of a cream concealer is thicker, gives more of a matte finish and is good for helping to conceal blemishes, tattoos and deep pigmentation.
- Liquid Concealer– This type is great for under the eye area and for blending into the skin. Great for evening skin tone.
- Pen Concealer With Brush Tip– This is more of a sheer formula and great for under the eye area.

Concealer Application Tips
- You can use most concealers as an eye primer too! Just apply on top of your eyelid before eyeshadow. It helps to make your eyeshadow pop, plus gives your eyeshadow something to adhere to so it stands out.
- Use a concealer to highlight your face by applying concealer where you would naturally use a highlighter.
- Use concealer on the inner corners of your eyes to make them appear brighter and pop. Also, helps to make them look less tired.
- If your goal is to cover dark under-eye circles, then make an upside-down triangle under your eye area with your concealer. This will help brighten your whole face.
- Typically you will apply your foundation first, then your concealer.
- Highlight under your brows with concealer. This helps bring your eye area up- it’s an instant eye lift!
- Orange or pink concealer cancels out dark circles.
- Green concealer is for blemishes and red spots.
- Yellow concealer is for evening out skin tone.
- If using your finger to apply concealer, use your ring finger which has the least amount of muscles.
- If your concealer tends to look cakey, blot with a tissue under the eye area to soak up excess oil.
- Apply a translucent powder after you apply under-eye concealer to help set it and take away oil. This also helps your eye area to look more awake and not tired or drab.
- If you mess up on your eyeliner, use some concealer to hide mistakes.
- Use concealer to help prevent bleeding lipstick.
- Use concealer to help cancel out redness before applying lipstick. This helps you to achieve the true lipstick color.
- Want to create your own tinted moisturizer? Mix your concealer with some lotion and rub together!
- You want to make sure you have the right shade in your favorite concealer. For example, your concealer for your under-eye area should be one shade lighter than your foundation. But not too light where it looks drastically different.
I did want to hit on when to apply your concealer a little more because it really depends on what type of coverage you like and your skin.
If you have acne, dark circles or a lot you need to conceal, then use concealer first, However, if you just need to spot conceal certain areas, use foundation first, then spot conceal after. I do foundation first and then have a little under my nose and a spot on the side of my cheek that I conceal. So for me it works great. I find I use less concealer because my foundation covers most of it and evens out my skin tone.
If you’re concerned about your complexion looking too cakey, then you could conceal first and then do foundation. This is a great idea if you have lots to conceal, plus you won’t use as much product as far as foundation goes.
I also recorded a video on how to achieve flawless concealer. I show you how I apply mine and what I do to avoid creasing and make it last all day. Check out the video here!

Ingredients To Avoid In Your Concealer
As with all beauty products, concealer can also have some ingredients that I would opt to avoid when given the chance. All the brand I share below are clean, but here are a few ingredients to be on the lookout for:
Polyethylene Glycols (PEG’s) – Has been found to be contaminated with 1, 4 dioxane, which is cancer-causing. Can cause acne, skin irritant.
BHT/BHA– BHT is an antioxidant that helps to stabilize a product and reduce contamination. It is a hormone disruptor. It’s also listed as a human carcinogen and can cause reproductive problems(Source). BHA is also an antioxidant and has been listed as a carcinogen. (Source)
Phthalates– Known carcinogen, endocrine disruptor, cause birth defects and weaken fertility. (Source)
Parabens– Pretty common in most skincare products. Endocrine disruptor also known as Hormone disruptor(Source). Has been found in breast cancer tumors(Source), may cause male infertility and early puberty(Source).
Fragrance – Can cause phototoxic reactions and can be photoallergic. Skin irritants, and has been known as a neuro-toxin(Source).

The Best Natural And Clean Concealers
RMS Concealer

This is a cream concealer with a satin finish that provides a buildable coverage. What makes this unique is its ability to not only conceal but also act as a tinted moisturizer overall. Makes it nice to have one product that can do a lot!
Best Concealer For: Drier skin types, mature skin, redness, a natural look and for daily use.
Concealer Type– Cream Concealer.
Shades Available– Come in 16 shades. I wear the color 22.
How Does It Wear– It wears well. It doesn’t look as good by the end of the day, but I think that’s what makes this kind of beautiful too. It’s more of that worn in, effortless look. I will still look like I have some great coverage but it’s going to have faded a little. Very natural look overall.
What Is It Good For– This concealer is great for covering redness or hyperpigmentation. It really offers great coverage but doesn’t look cakey or matte. Gives a dewy finish overall.
Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic– This is definitely not non-comedogenic. It has coconut oil as the base, which is a very high comedogenic rating. I would steer clear of this if you find your pores get easily clogged or you have acne.
Price- $36
Review– This was the first natural beauty concealer I used 13 years ago, so it’s been a long favorite of mine. It melts so easily into the skin, which I love. This gives you such a natural look, yet it still offers some coverage. It feels very smooth and a bit oily. Not bad oily but it is made of coconut oil so it does get a little oily feeling as you work with it in your hands. This is great under eyes too, as it looks smooth and seamless. I would just be sure to set it with a translucent powder as well. This is really like a foundation, concealer in one. Often I’ll just wear this and not wear any foundation. I just apply starting in my t-zone area and then blend out for a really natural look. It makes my skin feel pulled together but not overdone.
Fitglow Beauty Conceal+

This is a concealer that not only improves the look of skin but also the overall health of skin with its skin-loving ingredients (phyto elastin blend, green tea, Vitamin K, and licorice root). It has a creamy texture that blends seamlessly into the skin.
Best Concealer For: Dry skin, oily skin, redness and daily use.
Concealer Type– Fitglow is a liquid concealer but I would also say it’s more of a cream consistency too since it feels a little thicker. A little of both.
Shades Available– Comes in 18 shades. I wear the color 3.5.
How Does It Wear– The longevity of this concealer is excellent. It really lasts the whole day for me, especially when set with a translucent powder or mineral powder.
What Is It Good For– This concealer is great for covering blemishes and redness. It really does such a good job of staying in place and not moving. It’s especially good for covering blemishes, redness or hyperpigmentation. I use this on my cheeks for hyperpigmentation, and under my nose for redness. I also like it for highlighting the face too.
Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic– This concealer could be a comedogenic concealer for some since it contains the ingredient beeswax. Beeswax basically blocks off all oxygen to your pores so your skin can’t breathe. Some people might be fine with it but others may find it to cause acne flare-ups.
Price- $42
Review– This is my go-to concealer for my cheeks and covering blemishes and hyperpigmentation. I always reach for it first because it does such a stellar job and lasts. Definitely one of the best natural concealers. It’s so easy to blend into the skin. I don’t like it as much for under eyes, it’s too thick for me and ends up looking cakey but love it for concealing redness and hyperpigmentation.
Hynt Beauty Concealer

This concealer isn’t shiny at all but provides amazing coverage. Gives skin a natural finish. A little goes a long way. It has botanical extracts, avocado oil and cupuacu butter in it.
Best Concealer For: Dry skin, mature skin, oily skin, redness, sensitive skin, daily use.
Concealer Type-This is a cream concealer. The formula is solid in the jar but when you touch it the product instantly melts onto your fingers making it easy to spread and use. It is more opaque, even though it does feel like a lightweight concealer.
Shades Available– Comes in 11 shades. I wear the color medium.
How Does It Wear– The concealer lasts all day and really looks great after a day’s wear
What Is It Good For-This is great for covering blemishes, hyperpigmentation, and redness. I like how it offers good coverage but isn’t too heavy. I don’t like it under the eyes as I find it looks a little cakey and heavy. This is the best concealer for really getting some good coverage on the blemishes. You can really build the coverage as you go.
Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic– This is definitely not non-comedogenic. It has coconut oil, which is a very high comedogenic rating.
Price- $30
Review– This really is the holy grail concealer when it comes to coverage. If there’s something you want to cover it does a good job. You can even apply it, let it dry for 5 minutes, then go back and reapply the product for even more coverage. I’ve even read where people use it to cover tattoos!
W3LL People Bio Correct Concealer

This is an all over liquid concealer. Not only does it work for under the eyes, but also for all over the skin. It has nourishing skin ingredients like pomegranate, Olive and Sunflower Seed Oil. Very light in texture but still provides coverage.
Best Concealer For: Dry skin, sensitive skin, daily use and under eye.
Concealer Type-This is a liquid concealer. The formula is very dewy and slightly whipped texture to it. Even though it feels dewy it does set in the skin well.
Shades Available– Comes in 20 shades. I wear the color 5N.
How Does It Wear– It’s not as long as others. By the end of the day I can see some has worn off but it still looks nice. I notice if I set it, it really helps give it some longevity since it’s lightweight and tends to fade a little.
What Is It Good For-I really love this concealer for under the eyes but not for blemishes or redness. It has a texture that really brightens the under eye area and doesn’t feel heavy. I find it’s a little to sheer to offer the coverage I want.
Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic– It has coconut oil, which is a very high comedogenic rating.
Price- $22
Review– Overall, this is a great under eye concealer. I just add a little of the formula to my fingers and tap under my eyes. It helps to even out discoloration under the eye area and perk up tired eyes. Of course I add a little translucent powder to the under eye area too to set it. You don’t have too but I find I’ll get creasing if I don’t. The only thing I don’t love about it, is it tends to separate sometimes I’ve noticed in the tube. So you get a little oil coming out separate from the pigment. But other than that it’s a great under eye concealer.
Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer

This concealer offers medium coverage and a light finish. It blends nicely into the skin. It helps to minimize dark circles, discoloration and blemishes. It’s not only a makeup product but a skincare product, boasting ingredients like stabilized Vitamin C, Mastic, and Albizia Julibrissin Bark Extract. These not only help protect skin from environmental damage over time, but also brighten the skin and improve texture.
Best Concealer For: Dry skin, oily skin, sensitive skin, daily use, under eye.
Concealer Type– This is a liquid concealer. The formula feels creamy to the touch, and silky smooth. Blends really nice in the skin.
Shades Available-Comes in 20 shades. I wear the color Yucca SC2.
How Does It Wear– Great! It looks so good on the skin even at night. Really impressed with the longevity.
What Is It Good For-I love this concealer for everything! It does well underneath my eyes, and covering redness and hyperpigmentation. It’s the perfect all around medium coverage concealer.
Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic-It is low in comedogenic ingredients. I would recommend it for those who might be sensitive to comedogenic ingredients. Do a patch test first to see how your skin reacts.
Price- $32
Review– I really dig this concealer! It hits all the marks for me. It’s lightweight feeling, yet still offers the coverage I crave in a concealer and I love that it works for both my under eye area and hyperpigmentation and redness. It blends so nicely into the skin and doesn’t feel heavy.

Review– I really love using this concealer under my eyes. It’s lightweight so it doesn’t look cakey or too heavy. It blends really well into the skin and adds some brightness too. EXA High Fidelity Balancing Color Corrector

This may seem different than a traditional concealer. It’s more of a tint and color corrector. It helps to even out the skin tone. EXA came out with these last year and I love them! They really make a huge difference when it comes to balancing color in the skin. They also are filled with brightening ingredients like marshmallow root, rice bran, and licorice root. Kaolin clay also is in the formula to help absorb excess moisture without causing dryness.

Review– I love these for correcting my skin before I apply foundation. I find I need less makeup overall. These are so lightweight and blend well into the skin seamlessly so you don’t feel like you’re wearing a heavy concealer.
Westman Atelier Vital Skin Foundation Skin

This is a foundation and concealer in one. Use it as a spot treatment for concealing specific areas. You can also just apply it in the T-zone and blend out for a more natural look. It is rich in antioxidants and calming actives to combat redness, and add moisture to the skin. It has vegetable-derived squalane in it to add moisture, as well as camellia seed oil which helps with antioxidant protection and helps to strengthen the skin barrier.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic-Comedogenic
Price- $68
Review-This is a great 2 in 1 product. Not only do I get a concealer, but also a foundation too. I love that! It just keeps things more simplistic. Especially great if you don’t need lots of coverage and just like to spot treat certain areas and blend out for a more natural seamless look. Super buildable too, which makes it great for days when you might want a more heavy look and can just apply more product.

Super buildable too, which makes it great for days when you might want a more heavy look and can just apply more product. It really feels so light on the skin and like you’re not wearing much. They even recommend getting a couple different shades to really match the different tones on the face. This will give you the most natural look overall.
