Caraway Cookware Review

Caraway Cookware exploded onto the market just a few years ago. I have had my Caraway Cookware for a couple years so I am sharing an updated review on the brand, including my thoughts on their bakeware that just came out last year!

Excited to share my updated Caraway Cookware Review. Caraway launched in the fall of 2019, so they’re only a couple years old.  I have had my cookware for a couple years and just got their bakeware this past winter. I was intrigued to say the least of their ceramic pots after having tried so many others in the past, I knew there must be something special about this line and there is.

Ceramic Pots
Let me introduce you to the newest wave of ceramic cookware- Caraway!

An Introduction To Caraway

Caraway is on a mission to raise the standard on what the consumer chooses to cook with. Their cookware products will not only make cooking easier but healthier too!

Jordan Nathan founded this brand after his own experience with toxic cookware. He accidentally overheated a Teflon pan. and became nauseated. After contacting Poison Control, he discovered he had been exposed to Teflon Poisoning. With his experience in the direct to consumer kitchen and home goods space and as someone who was very conscious of what he put in his body, creating a non toxic cookware brand was a next step that made sense.

Beyond non toxic cookware, Caraway also goes the extra mile to ensure that their employees are paid fairly, with benefits, safe, treated well and work regular hours.  Their ethics also carry over into their environmental practices too.  Their shipments are shipped out in recycled cardboard without any plastic.  They also use biodegradable cork trivets as well and low impact print dyes.

Are Caraway pots and pans safe and non toxic?

Yes, Caraway products are safe and non toxic! In fact, I feature them as my pick for Best Ceramic Coated Cookware in my Non Toxic Cookware Guide

They are made using a mineral based coating that doesn’t leach into your food.  They also emit 60% less C02 than traditional non-stick coatings.  They first start with an aluminum and stainless steel base and then cover it with the mineral based coating.  The mineral coating is free of lead, cadmium and Teflon.  As with most ceramic pots and pans it is a mineral-based coating made of silica, oxygen, binders, and color pigments.

People used to be concerned about the mineral coating chipping but I’ve found high quality ceramic pots and pans don’t do this as easily.  It’s the poor quality, usually inexpensive ones that tend to chip or wear off after a short amount of time.  As I like to say- you get what you pay for!

Caraway Cookware Review

Caraway Cookware is such an easy transition for anyone looking to swap their cookware from traditional non-stick to a nontoxic non-stick option.  You won’t miss your old toxic cookware at all with Caraway!  It’s so easy to use.  It’s completely nonstick.  I haven’t had any issues with food sticking to the ceramic pots or pans at all.  Even my husband was so impressed with the performance.  He couldn’t get over how easy it was to use.  I’ve made ground beef, sausage, chicken, eggs, quesadillas, vegetable stir fry’s and more.  I love the small fry pan for cooking eggs or quick one person meals.  The Sauce Pan I’ve used so much for sauces, oatmeal and pasta.  The Sauté Pan is great for cooking larger one pot meals, meat and stir fry’s and the Dutch Oven is great for soups, chili, whole chickens and broth.  I really have used them all for different things and they work so well.

Besides being easy to use and cook with, cleaning up you Caraway Cookware is a breeze. You just use warm soapy water and since it is non-stick it will wash up so easily. You won’t want to put these pots and pans in the dishwasher as it can cause them to chip easily.

I love the hanging canvas lid holder too!  Such a great way to organize the lids.  The Sauté Pan, Sauce Pan and the Dutch Oven all come with lids.  Something I love!  They even have a small venting hole in each lid.  The hanging canvas comes with two suctions.  I put it on the side of my fridge and it works great!  So easy to get to the lids.  They also come with magnetic modular pan racks that help keep your ceramic pots and pans organized in your cabinet.  They really have thought of everything!

Caraway Bakeware Review

I was sent their newest line of products- their ceramic bakeware set last winter!  I was so excited to test it out for myself. The timing was perfect as the holidays were just around the corner.  I was already dreaming of all the things I wanted to make using them!

The bakeware set is made from the same materials as the cookware set.  Coated with ceramic and free of the harmful toxins like PTFE, lead and cadmium.  You can feel good about baking again!

This is perfect for someone wanting to switch to a nontoxic baking option!  Also, a great gift idea for anyone who hasn’t made the switch to a clean bakeware and might not know where to start.  I’ve been super happy with the overall performance of the bakeware set.  I don’t bake as often so I feel they hold up better.  I also use unbleached parchment paper on a lot of my baked goods, so it protects them even more.  I will say the 9×13 pan is the one pan I would make sure and be careful when cutting.  I brought some rice krispies in them for thanksgiving and the bottom got scratched as people were using a metal knife to cut into them.  I recommend putting parchment paper down so you can easily lift the rice krispies out of the pan and then cut them to avoid scratches.

I do think Caraway Cookware is worth it if you’re wanting to switch from conventional cookware to something cleaner.  It is especially great for someone that wants the ease of use that they’re used to when cooking with conventional non-stick cookware but without the toxins. It makes switching a breeze!  Plus, they are beautiful and look really great on your stovetop.

Hey Suzi, noticed you saying that there is some chipping on the pots and pans that you use the most. I have had my caraway dutch oven for about two years and I have very slight chipping as well. I’ve been googling like crazy trying to find out if the pot is still safe with the slight chipping. Any thoughts? Thx!

      Hi Angus,

I personally would still use it. But it’s ultimately up to you. I think the amount of release would be very minor.

      Hi Suzanne,

I am not testing them and I have seen this article. I am not saying their lead free entirely, but that their is no lead present unless you cut into them or they get chipped.
