My Top Natural and Organic Products at Target

Sharing my top natural and organic products at Target! I am often asked what natural products can be found and accessed more easily than ordering on-line.  Of course if you love Target as much as I do, then you know you can find affordable and clean products there!  I decided it was time I put together my Top 10 Natural Products that you can pick up at your local Target store.  Even better, I have created a shopping list you can take with you that includes 100+ Natural/Clean Finds at Target.  With this list in hand, you can feel confident you are buying only the best for you and your family!

What is Target Clean?

Target Clean is used as a standard for products that don’t include certain toxic chemicals in their formulations. An icon is used to represent the products that meet these standards and can be found on-line and in store.

 width=

Based on what category you are shopping in (beauty, cleaning products, household essentials, baby, etc) the excluded chemicals will vary.  Specifically with beauty, the following chemicals won’t be included in those products that are considered Target Clean:

  • Propyl-parabens
  • Butyl-parabens
  • Phthalates
  • Formaldehyde
  • Formaldehyde-donors
  • nonylphenol ethoxylates (NPEs)
  • Oxybenzone
  • SLES
  • retinyl palmitate
  • Hydroquinone
  • Triclosan
  • Triclocarban
  • BHA
  • BHT

While I love that Target is making an effort to inform the consumer, don’t just blindly follow this standard.  Just because a product fits Target’s standards doesn’t mean it will meet yours!  That’s why I am sharing my top 10 must have natural and clean living finds at Target below.  But hold on, I didn’t stop there.  I also made a whole shopping guide for you so you know EXACTLY what you want to purchase (or stay away from) to support your natural living lifestyle.  I include in this guide natural and clean products in Beauty, Baby, Food, Kitchen, Feminine Products and Household.  I even made up a wallet sized shopping guide so you can easily keep this available for your shopping trip!

1) Honest Beauty Extreme Length 2-in-1 Mascara and Lash Primer

If you have been around for any sort of time you shouldn’t be surprised to find this mascara at the top of my list.   This is hands down my favorite natural mascara in clean beauty currently.  I know that says a lot but it’s true.  The formula checks all the boxes.  It offers thickness, length, separation- it’s just awesome!  The formula isn’t too dry or too wet and I love that I don’t have to apply 5 coats of mascara to see product on my lashes.  In just two coats my lashes are instantly lengthened, thicker and have overall more volume.  I’m sold!  On one end of the mascara wand is a primer and the other the mascara color.  I apply the primer first and then the mascara.  Plus, it’s super budget friendly! You will not regret picking up this mascara! Get it here.

2) W3LL People Makeup

W3ll People was one of the first green beauty brands on the scene years ago.  It makes me so happy to see a brand like this in Target.  They have 35+ EWG-verified products.  W3LL People is committed to the highest standard for ingredients, health and safety.  They are also on a mission to be “easily accessible to all, ensuring more people have the ability to choose clean and be well.” (1)  And with access to their products every time you go to Target, they are hitting their mission out of the park!

I have featured so many of their products on my blog.  Check out their concealer in my Best Natural Beauty Concealers.  Their eyeshadow palettes I love and have written about in multiple blog posts.  They come in a palette with 5 different eyeshadow colors.  I love that they have matte and shimmer shadows in them.  Sometimes I’m feeling matte and sometimes I want something a little more pumped up. It has basics for everyday wear or for kicking it up later on. A great palette to take you from day to night.  PLUS, these palettes are so budget friendly!  You get an entire eyeshadow palette for $19.99 at Target!  I also reviewed their mascara in my Natural Mascara Guide And these are just a few of their products available at Target.  You can also get tinted moisturizer, foundation stick, pressed powder foundation, stick blush, lipstick and the list goes on!  Check out W3ll People Makeup products here.

3) Honest Diaper Rash Cream

I find it essential to choose only the best for my babies.  Especially when applying a product directly on their sensitive skin. Unfortunately many conventional diaper rash creams can contain some less than stellar ingredients not limited to:

  • Fragrance
  • Petrolatum
  • Potassium Hydroxide
  • Dimethicone
  • BHA
  • Methyparaben

Honest Diaper Rash Cream I have found to be so good.  When my babies have needed it, it really soothes rashes and redness.  Plus, there are times when you run out and need it ASAP.  You may not have time to place an order on-line, so this can be picked up at your local Target.  Get it here!

4)Organic Bath Towels

I’ve had their organic bath towels now for a year and a half and love them!  They’ve held up great.  The quality is good for the price.  My hubs and I fight over them!  They wash well and aren’t so heavy that they take forever to dry.  They come in a couple different colors too.  Highly recommend for the price and convenience of finding them at Target!  Get them here.

5) Threshold Organic Cotton Sheets

That’s right…even Target has options for 100% cotton sheets that meet the highest standards for organic textiles!  This means a really great budget option for those that want better quality bed sheets, but aren’t wanting to fork out the price tag that can come with some of the more luxury options.  Target has 100% cotton sheets that are Standard 100 by OEKO-TEX certified and GOTS certified. Love that organic cotton sheets are so easily accessible and even priced right!  I even included them in my blog post Organic Cotton Sheets.  We’ve had a set for years and love them.Get them here!

6) Cora Organic Feminine Care Products

I’m so impressed Target carries organic feminine products!  I really love the Cora Organic Feminine Care Products.  They offer organic tampons, organic pads and reusable menstrual cups.  Makes it so easy to purchase these when you can find them at your local Target!  They are free of fragrances, dyes or chlorine and 100% organic cotton.  Check them out here.

7) Lodge Cast Iron Pan

This is the cast iron pan I have and love.  It was actually the first type of nontoxic cookware that I switched over too.  It really has been around forever and that’s one of the reasons I love it.  It does take a little bit of time to get used to it but once you’ve worked with it you can definitely figure it out. Plus, Lodge Cast Iron is so budget friendly too!  I use this pan for cooking eggs, veggies, frying- really the list is endless.  A couple tips when using cast iron:

  1.  Make sure and slowly add heat.  I found this works best instead of blasting the food with heat.  It helps to not burn food.  Cast iron retains heat very well.
  2. Make sure you season it regularly. This helps to create a type of natural non-stick surface.  If you’re unsure how to season it, The Wellness Mama did a whole blog post on it here.  When you season a cast iron it’s basically adding a good oil to keep it hydrated and then baking it.
  3. I avoid cooking acidic foods in cast iron because it can break down the seasoning or patina that’s been made on the cast iron.
  4. Cleaning cast iron can seem intimidating at first, but it’s actually not.  You don’t want to use soap with cast iron- it can damage the seasoning and dry it out.  Instead, use some salt to clean it.  I just shake salt on top and then take a scrubby and scrub away.  Then rinse with water, allow it to dry and rub in a cooking oil.

So inexpensive and you don’t have to worry about crazy chemicals leaching into your food.   Check out my Best Non Toxic Cookware posts for all the details on the Lodge Cast Iron Pan and my other favorite non toxic cookware options!  Check it out here.

8) Vital Farms Pastured Eggs

I just love that I can find good quality eggs so easily.  And, we love these eggs!  You can tell a huge difference in the quality of a pastured egg the minute you break it open.  The yolk is so orange and vibrant!  And if you aren’t sure why you might want to spend a little more and purchase eggs from pastured hens, a study from Pennsylvania University showed that:

“pastured eggs contained 38% more Vitamin A, two times as much Vitamin E, more than two times the omega-3 fatty acids, less than half the Omega-6 to omega-3 ratio compared to non pastured eggs” (2)

9) Primal Kitchen Salad Dressings

If you haven’t heard of Primal Kitchen, let me tell you a bit about them.  This brand started with a goal of creating the world’s best-tasting, real-food pantry staples, starting with a mayonnaise made with avocado oil.  Have you ever looked at a label for a salad dressing or mayonnaise?!  They are stocked full of inflammatory oils.  So to say I was so excited when I saw these there not too long ago is an understatement.  We always have these on hand.  I love the Ranch and Caesar.  They have super clean ingredients and NO inflammatory oils like canola oil or sunflower oil.  What a better option to top that healthy salad or for your kiddos to dip their carrots in;)  Check out the dressings here!

10) Chosen Foods Avocado Oil

I love this oil and always keep it on hand because it’s cold pressed and naturally refined- meaning there are no chemicals or solvents used in the process. It has a high smoke point too which makes it great for cooking (up to 500 degrees!).  And if you haven’t used avocado oil before, it has a neutral flavor profile so you can easily use it for so many different things  From high-heat sautéing and flame grilling, to dressing your salad, grains and pasta salads it is so diverse and so easy to get when you know you can pick it up on your next Target run!  Check it out here.
