Risewell Toothpaste Review

Finding the right products to support your oral health is so important. Many of us know that we want to avoid fluoride for a whole host of reasons. However, just because a toothpaste is fluoride free doesn’t mean the other ingredients are great or that it is doing anything to support your oral health. But, I have found a toothpaste that has ingredients I can stand behind and will support strong teeth and oral health. Plus, my whole family uses it! Check out my Risewell Toothpaste Review below.

Risewell Toothpaste has taken my oral health routine to the next level. Plus they have products for the whole family – my kids love their children’s toothpaste even! Sharing a full review on this natural toothpaste brand.

What makes Risewell Toothpaste different from conventional toothpastes?

Risewell Toothpaste is different for a few reasons. First, they have swapped out any toxic ingredients found in conventional toothpastes and replaced them with natural ingredients.

This means none of the following will be found in Risewell Toothpaste:

  • Fluoride
  • SLS/Sulfates
  • Parabens
  • Artificial Colors, Flavors or Preservatives

Secondly, they use an ingredient called hydroxyapatite. Many other natural toothpastes may not use toxic ingredients, but they also aren’t really doing anything to help your oral health. Risewell uses hydroxyapatite to not only clean and protect your teeth, but also improve your overall oral health. If you haven’t heard of hydroxyapatite, then let me explain.

Hydroxyapatite is part of what makes up our bones and teeth. And it is what gives them their rigidity.

Natural toothpaste that works!

What are the benefits of using Risewell Toothpaste?

The biggest benefit of using Risewell toothpaste is that it contains hydroxyapatite. This ingredient is like none other.

Hydroxyapatite is the main part of your tooth enamel. It has the ability to bind to your teeth and fill in “small holes.” This means that weak areas of your teeth CAN be remineralized using Risewell Toothpaste!

Risewell also uses ingredients not typically found in conventional toothpastes. With these come benefits to your oral health that you wouldn’t have otherwise. This includes:

Xylitol: Basically starves the bad bacteria in your mouth causing cell death, resulting in less of the acids they produce that can cause cavities.

Cilica and Calcium Carbonate: Gently clean the teeth without damaging the enamel. With this small study showing that toothpaste with calcium carbonate removes more plaque than toothpaste without it.

Wild Mint and Peppermint Oils: Freshen breath and kill oral pathogens.

Tea Tree Oil: Has antibacterial and antifungal properties, with one study showing that it is more effective than chlorhexidine, an ingredient commonly used as a disinfectant and in oral rinses.

Cinnamon and Thyme Extracts: Thymol, a component of thyme, inhibits the growth of oral pathogens and may reduce dental cavities.

Orange, Eucalyptus and Lemon Oils: These are anti-inflammatory oils.

So with all these amazing ingredients Risewell is not only cleaning your teeth, but it is providing benefits to your overall oral health.

Does Risewell Toothpaste have fluoride in it?

Unlike most conventional toothpastes, Risewell Toothpaste does not have fluoride in it. I think most are familiar with the fact that not only is fluoride found in many toothpastes but has also been added to public water supplies since 1962 to help prevent tooth decay.

Many conventional dentists and sources state that fluoride strengthens tooth enamel which makes it more resistant to tooth decay. It also reduces the amount of acid in your mouth produced by the bacteria that are present on your teeth.

But, unfortunately, holistic dentists and other sources state that fluoride binds to the outside of the tooth creating an acid resistant barrier. So while this does provide some level of protection it also prevents the natural process of mineral absorption. This can result in weakened enamel.

On top of that, fluoride also comes with unwanted side effects. And when you consider that not only is it present in your conventional toothpastes (which obviously it is nearly impossible for some ingestion not to happen especially when it comes to children), but if you are drinking tap water then you are consuming it throughout the day.

The most commonly known side effect of fluoride is dental fluorosis. According to the CDC this is defined as a “change in the mineralization of the dental hard tissues (enamel, dentin, and cementum) caused by long-term ingestion (eating and drinking) of fluoride during the period of tooth development prior to eruption into the mouth (first 8 years of life for most permanent teeth excluding third molars).” This results in not only visual changes to the tooth (anything from white markings to pitting of the teeth to yellow or brown stains) but also low mineralization of the tooth

Fluoride is found in most conventional toothpaste brands!

A CDC study showed that nearly 25% of the population has some level of dental fluorosis.

Unfortunately the potential side effects don’t stop there. There is a study showing potential adverse effects from high levels of fluoride exposure on children’s neurodevelopment. There is also a study that shows the potential for thyroid dysfunction when exposure to fluoride is higher.

Plus, have you ever looked at the warning on the back of a tube of conventional toothpaste? Basically it will instruct you to call Poison Control Center if more than is used for brushing is accidentally swallowed!!! Risewell Toothpaste actually states that their toothpaste is so safe you could eat it (Not that I recommend chowing down on toothpaste but you get the point). What a difference in ingredients!

This study showed comparable efficacy in remineralizing initial caries and preventing demineralization when comparing fluoride and hydroxyapatite. So, why wouldn’t you pick the active ingredient without known side effects?!

Ultimately, the side effects of fluoride on health aren’t 100% clear. But, when there is a cleaner, better option for oral health like hydroxyapatite that is without a doubt safe and effective that is what I am going to choose for my family!

Risewell Products Review

Toothpaste- This is the first product I tried of Risewell and I fell hard for it! It gives my teeth the fresh feeling that I love but also contains the mineral hydroxyapatite that I mentioned earlier. So not only are your teeth being cleaned but also remineralized and protected through hydroxyapatite. What’s unique about Risewell’s toothpaste is that you don’t have to rinse your mouth after you brush your teeth like conventional toothpastes. It actually works to your benefit to not because then you are leaving the hydroxyapatite on your teeth which then helps to remineralize and strengthen them. Use code: GURLGONEGREEN for 10% off. Get the toothpaste here.

Kids Toothpaste- I love their kid’s toothpaste! It’s a step above when it comes to toothpastes for kids. It also contains the beloved mineral hydroxyapatite. I love that it’s in kid’s toothpaste especially since they can not be as good at brushing their teeth. Also, I love the fact that it’s ok if they accidentally swallow a little- I don’t have freak out moment as a mom! My kids love the cake batter flavor. Use code: GURLGONEGREEN for 10% off. Get it here!

Mouthwash- I just tried their mouthwash a couple months ago for the first time and it’s so good! Even my husband is obsessed with it now. It’s that extra step in your oral routine that really takes everything up a notch. My breath smells fresh, and my teeth feel even cleaner. I do it morning and night. Use code: GURLGONEGREEN for 10% off. Get it here.

Floss- I’m also a user of their floss after I found out it also contains the mineral hydroxyapatite. I really love that they created a floss with the mineral in it because often between your teeth is where cavities can form first. When you’re using floss with hydroxyapatite on it you’re able to get the mineral in your teeth working in those hard to reach places! Use code: GURLGONEGREEN for 10% off. Get the floss here.

Conclusion: Is Risewell Toothpaste Worth It?

Yes! Risewell toothpaste is definitely worth it. I love that it’s a natural toothpaste but it’s actually effective. I’ve had too many people tell me they switched to a natural toothpaste and ended up getting a cavity. Natural toothpastes are great at having clean ingredients but not necessarily at being effective. You still want ingredients that are going to strengthen and protect your teeth and that’s where Risewell toothpaste and products come in. They have the whole package! Toothpaste and oral products that are clean but also effective at strengthening your teeth. Use code: GURLGONEGREEN for 10% off. Check them out here!
