Jones Road Beauty
Jones Road Beauty was founded by beauty industry veteran, and makeup artist, Bobbi Brown.
Her take on creating a new makeup line was not that there was a need for MORE beauty products, just better products. And when wanting a better product that definitely means a clean beauty product!
Jones Road Beauty follows stricter guidelines than the E.U. when selecting which ingredients to use. This includes excluding over 2,700 potentially harmful ingredients from their products.
What began as an endeavor to create products for herself, became so much more. Bobbi Brown was able to create clean beauty products that worked for all ages, skin types, and skin tones!

What exactly is the Jones Road Miracle Balm?
The Miracle Balm is unlike any product I’ve used before! It’s a multi-purpose balm that really gives the illusion of the “no makeup makeup look.” It comes in a round jar and feels similar to a skincare balm but it’s slightly tinted.
The color will vary depending on the color you choose. It gives skin a dewy glow and moisture surge all at the same time. You can apply this on top of makeup, by itself, really wherever you want a subtle glow. Are you tracking with me? Like I said, it’s unlike anything I’ve used before.
Is the Jones Road Miracle Balm a clean beauty product?
It is a clean beauty product in my opinion. Not the absolute cleanest but cleaner than most conventional products out there. There are still several ingredients I don’t love seeing in there but if you look at the whole ingredient list you will see that they are listed at the bottom of the ingredient list which means they are the lowest in the formula overall.
Let’s look at the ingredients…
Ricinus Communis (Castor) Seed Oil, Cera Alba /Beeswax/Cire d’abeille, Castor Isostearate Succinate, Caprylic/ Capric Triglyceride, Diisostearyl Malate, Caprylic/Capric/Myristic/ Stearic Triglyceride, Coconut Alkanes, Mica, Hydrogenated Castor Oil, Brassica Campestris/Aleurites Fordi Oil Copolymer, Simmondsia Chinensis (Jojoba) Seed Oil, Argania Spinosa (Argan) Kernel Oil, Zingiber Officinale (Ginger) Root Oil, Citrus Grandis (Grapefruit) Peel Oil, Citrus Aurantium Dulcis (Orange) Peel Oil, Hippophae Rhamnoides (Sea Buckthorn) Fruit Oil, Rosmarinus Officianlis (Rosemary) Leaf Oil, Pelargonium Graveolens Oil, Coco-Caprylate/Caprate, Phenoxyethanol, Tocopheryl Acetate, Silica, Tocopherol, May Contain +/-: Synthetic Fluorphlogopite, Iron Oxides/CI 77491/CI 77499/CI 77492, CI 77163/Bismuth Oxychloride, CI 77891/ Titanium Dioxide, CI 77861/Tin Oxide, CI 45410/Red 28 Lake
Let’s dive in a little deep to these two ingredients:
Phenoxyethanol- This is used as a preservative in the formula. While I don’t love seeing it in products, it really comes down to what percentage they use in the formula. Most brands are using it as a preservative at less than 1%. Which according to research is nothing to be concerned about.
The studies that have been performed before were percentages that were using 100% phenoxyethanol! I don’t care what chemical you use, you’re going to have some negative impacts when used at that high of a dosage. Phenoxyethanol is not bioaccumulative so it’s not something that builds up in your body like many chemicals can.
Red 28 Lake- While artificial dyes aren’t something you want in products, to achieve certain pigments and colors, brands often still use them. The amount in them is so small.
For me personally, I’m ok using products that contain them in moderation since the amount is literally almost untraceable. Also, not all of the Miracle Balms contain this ingredient. I asked Jones Road Beauty about it and here’s what they said:
“The may contain IL is used in some products where the base is the same and the only difference from one shade to another is the colorants. It’s standard practice. The ingredients listed in the may contain section are contained in at least one shade within the product.”
So the Red 28 Lake isn’t in every product and it’s listed at the very bottom, so hardly there.

How do I use the Miracle Balm?
You can wear Miracle Balm on bare skin to give that dewy moisture look on its own or you can apply it on top of makeup to really enhance your look.
I like applying it on top of makeup after I’ve applied my blush and using it as a highlighter to really amp up the dewiness and glow. I will also apply it by itself after applying a little concealer and it instantly gives my skin a perked-up and instant refresh look.
I just use my fingers to apply the balm. You want to make sure and break the seal (top layer of the balm) in order to maximize the pigment in the product. Then warm the product in your fingers before applying.
Where do I apply it?
You can really apply wherever you want a little extra dewiness to the skin. As I mentioned I’ll apply to the upper cheekbones after my blush for a highlighter. Also on my cupids bow, lips, and just across the middle of my forehead.
How do I choose the correct color?
The color you choose depends on what you’re wanting to use it for. There are 9 different shades.
The Flushed color, for example, is a poppy pink and works great if you’re wanting to use it as a pretty touch of color on your cheeks or for lips.
If you’re wanting an overall versatile product you can apply anywhere I would go with Magic Hour or Golden Hour. These shades can be easily blended in and look more like a bronzer on the skin.
There is also one that is au natural that really works for everyone. It just gives the illusion of the dewy look but without any real color payoff. In the photos I’m wearing the color Dusty Rose.

Jones Road Miracle Balm Review
After using the Jones Road Miracle Balm I’m obsessed with it! It gives the skin just the perfect amount of dewiness and overall life. It really takes any makeup look you already have to the next level. Great if you’re a minimalist makeup wearer or a makeup lover.
It’s so easy to use too! I find myself grabbing for it on days when I’m not wearing much makeup but want to amplify my look but then it works great on days when I have on a full face of makeup too. It’s so versatile and a great gift idea for anyone. Great for mature skin, and young skin. It just adds a little extra to any look and takes it over the top!
Conclusion: Is the Miracle Balm a hit or miss in clean beauty?
The Miracle Balm is a total win in the clean beauty space in my opinion! There is no other product like it and that is one of the reasons why I love it so much. Dewy skin is in and really adds that youthfulness to any makeup look. It’s the product you never knew you needed!

Hi Sarah,
I’m so sorry- I should have had that in there. Added it! The color I’m wearing in the photos is Dusty Rose. 🙂
What I don’t like about the miracle balm is I found my hair sticking to my face wherever I applied it. Maybe I used too much, maybe I didn’t rub it in enough, I’m not sure. I’d use 3 fingers to tap into the product and dot gently on my face where I wanted some color. So maybe that’s not letting it melt into my skin. Not sure, but it didn’t work for me.
Hi Gina,
Sorry to hear that! I can totally see that happening. I barley use any when I apply it and tap in.
