Natural Mascara

Natural Mascara

My natural mascara post is here! Having been in natural beauty for over 10 years now, I’ve tried my fair share of mascaras.  I’m pretty picky when it comes to a stellar formula too.  It has to meet some strict requirements.  I mean a girl doesn’t want just volume, but length, separation, and maybe even a bit of drama.  Who’s with me?!  I’ve written a post like this before but have since updated it and now I’m doing a new refresh all together to give you the complete guide to finding your favorite natural mascara!  If I can do it, you can do it!

Have you ever wondered what was in that long tube of black goo we call mascara?

According to Women’s Health, 65% of women wear mascara every day, making it the most popular eye makeup used.

Yet, I would venture to say most women don’t know a thing about what’s in their favorite black tube.  Well, I was like most women just enjoying the creative powers of my mascara as it made my eyelashes go from spindly average to va va voom, until one day I did a little research of my own.  This research left me flabbergasted…yes I said it, flabbergasted!  I mean how much could a little tube really carry …right?  WRONG!

Here’s the oh so scary news:  Most mascaras contain mercury, coal tar, formaldehyde releasers, petroleum distillates, vinyl, parabens, phthalates, and triethanolamine…can you say scary… three times!  And not only does it contain all these big word ingredients but over half of us our putting them near our eyes every single day!

Yes, gasp if you’d like, I sure did.  So why don’t we want these big long words in our black tubes?  Well, for starters they’re harmful to our health and can accumulate in the body and lead to an array of nastiness in our bodies, such as cancer, liver problems, hormonal disruptions, miscarriages, and birth defects…just to name a few.  Now you might be thinking, great I’m going to have to give up my magic tube of goo…But alas, have no fear we live in the 21st century, where choices are abundant and there are many natural options.

Natural Mascara

Giving you the lowdown on all these natural mascaras!

I had some standards as I tested out mascara.  There have been some mascaras I’ve noticed some people pegging as “clean” but they had questionable ingredients.  My top recommendations are completely clean.  However, there are a few ingredients here and there in some of the other mascaras that rate a higher score on EWG.  In comparison to conventional mascaras, I think they’re pretty good.  But that’s a decision you have to make for yourself.

I wanted to dive into mascara and share why it’s important to make the switch ASAP!  I’ve heard so many people say that mascara isn’t a big deal to use conventional.  I beg to differ.  I get the one time waterproof mascara you want to use for a wedding or that special event but for the day in and day out grind- get yourself a natural mascara you love!

*I’m also going to share some natural mascaras that I didn’t love as well.  Hopefully this well help weed out the options so you can find your best natural mascara!

So what’s lurking in the conventional mascara tubes?  Nothing pretty.

*Your eyes actually have tiny pores around the eyes and can absorb the chemicals your applying to them.

  • PARABENS- from Butylparaben, Ethylparaben, Propylparaben.  These are known endocrine disruptors(hormone disruptors) and can cause allergic reactions as well as contact dermatitis.
  • PROPYLENE GLYCOL- This includes -4, -6, -8…etc) Has been found to be contaminated with 1, 4 dioxane, which is cancer causing.  Can cause acne, skin irritant.
  • POLYBUTENE– Derived from petroleum and is a plasticizer, used to make adhesives and in this case mascara too- yikes!
  • PEG’S– Simliar to propylene glycol, has been found to be contaminated with 1, 4 dioxane, which is cancer causing.  Can cause acne, skin irritant.
  • SODIUM LAURETH SULFATE- Drying of the skin, skin irritant and has been linked to eczema.  Endocrine disruptor and has been found to have 1, 4 dioxane, again cancer causing.
  • PARAFFIN- Also known as petroleum.  The manufacturing process of petroleum causes it to be contaminated with 1,4 dioxane.  This ingredient has been shown to be a known carcinogen and cancer causing.  Not too mention, petroleum is a skin irritant, causing rashes and and allergic reactions.
  • ETHANOLAMINE- These can come in other forms such as triethanolamine, or be listed as DEA, TEA, MEA. Immune and respiratory toxin.  Also, known to cause allergic reactions. Cancer causing as well because they contain nitrosamines.
  • BHT- Derived from petroleum and used as a preservative.  Not only can it affect your hormones but it also is carcinogenic.
  • TALC- Most talc is contaminated with asbestos unless they are third party testing it.  The only company doing that is Beautycounter.  It’s associated with respiratory problems, lung cancer, asthma, and even cancer.
  • FRAGRANCE- Can cause photo-toxic reactions and can be photo-allergic.  Skin irritants, and has been known as a neurotoxin.
  • RETINYL ACETATE-  can cause liver damage, brittle nails, & hair loss just to name a few. It’s also been shown in high doses to cause problems with skeletal birth defects in developing fetuses.
  • DIAZOLIDINYL UREA- Releases formaldehyde in products. Can be found in facial moisturizers, facial cleansers, eye creams, foundations, shampoos, acne treatments, after shave, lip balms, mascara, sunless tanning products, antiperspirants/deodorants, cuticle treatments, and nail polishes.
  • ALUMINUM POWDER- This is a neurotoxin and nothing you want close to your eye.

*I can’t tell you how many people after switching to a natural mascara, stopped getting styes in their eyes!  I don’t think it’s a coincidence.  These harmful ingredients make their way into the eye and can cause a variety of infections.

Waterproof Mascara

I get a lot of questions on waterproof mascara options and formulas in clean beauty.  So I thought I would share how waterproof mascara is made.  To make a mascara waterproof often companies use an ingredient called dimethicone copolyol.

*However, I wanted to hear from one of my favorite natural beauty makeup brands, Crunchi, to hear their insight into what makes a waterproof mascara formula.

Here’s what their research and development team had to say:

There are actually many different ingredient combinations that can work to make a mascara formula “waterproof”, and it is much more complex than simply adding “dimethicone copolyol” to formulate a mascara with this feature.

Bottom line: waterproof mascara can be filled with many unknown chemicals and it’s not always clear what exactly is lurking in the tube.

The more I looked into dimethicone copolyol I learned that it’s a derivative of silica and it repels water.  Silicones are really important when it comes to making a waterproof mascara work.  Since we know oil and water don’t mix, and silicones are made of fat(oil) this helps the mascara to stay on the lashes instead of run down your face.  You will notice in many waterproof formulas there’s not water or very little and more oil. That’s because oil repels the water.  That’s also why it’s so hard to remove waterproof mascara because it’s made from oils and just water isn’t going to remove it but you’ll need an oil based eye makeup remover.  The problem I learned is that since waterproof mascaras are harder to remove, many people just don’t.  Unfortunately, this causes bacteria to build up on the eye and can cause styes and infection.

There aren’t waterproof formulations in natural mascara formulas. There are some “water resistant” formulations- but not a true waterproof formula.  Using a waterproof mascara over and over again not only causes eyelid dermatitis but can lead to drying out your eye.  Since waterproof mascara takes a while to get off, often people have to use harsher eye makeup removers to remove the mascara.  Another reason to ditch the waterproof mascara on a daily basis.

*Below I’ll highlight some water resistant mascara options if waterproof mascara is your thing.

The thing is it’s super easy to find a stellar formula these days. Back when I was transitioning to clean beauty(10 years ago) there was one formula…yes I repeat one formula that worked.  And even then it wasn’t perfect but it was all that was out there.  These days not only can you have your cake but you can eat it too when it comes to natural mascara!  In 10 years the clean beauty industry has gone from making one ok formula to SO many.  With my help you can find your new natural mascara bestie.

Let’s dive into ALL the natural mascara options- cuz’ there’s a lot!  I am breaking them down by formula, smudge factor, flaking, brush and price.  I have several budget friendly options that I think you’ll love.

*Oh and side note- if you’re looking for a natural eye makeup remover, check out Beautycounter’s!  It’s the best.  Any former Mary Kay eye makeup remover lovers out there?  Yeah, I was one of them.  I loved that stuff.  Beautycounter’s Instant Eye Makeup Remover reminds me of Mary Kays- so good!  Get it here.

After trying so many natural mascaras I must say I have 3 that really stand out for me, remember I love bigger/ fuller lashes, you might like something different:

Honest Beauty Mascara(FAVE- after trying so many I still go back to this one, it checks all the boxes for me)

Formula- Ok, so I did try this mascara when it first came out years ago and I didn’t like it.  It stung my eyes pretty bad and there wasn’t anything amazing about it.  However, they re-did the formula a couple years ago and I have to say it is completely different and I LOVE it!  This is hands down my favorite natural mascara in clean beauty currently.  I know, that says a lot but it’s true.  The formula checks all the boxes.  It offers thickness, length, separation- it’s just awesome!  The formula isn’t too dry or too wet and I love that I don’t have to apply 5 coats of mascara to see product on my lashes.  In just two coats my lashes are instantly lengthened, thicker and have overall more volume.  I’m sold!  On one end of the mascara wand is a primer and the other the mascara color.  I apply the primer first and then the mascara.

Smudge factor/Flaking- Doesn’t flake or smudge!

Brush- The brush is longer and thinner, with a slight curve.

Price- $16.99 on Amazon.

Ilia Beauty Limitless Lash Mascara(sensitive eyes)

Formula-  This is a newer natural  mascara find and I’ve been loving it.  They created a patented brush.  One side is for curling and the other side is for lengthening. It really does give my lashes a curl boost and makes adding length to them even easier.  The formula is a little on the wet side, but not too wet that it smudges all over.  I’m really able to build length with this mascara too.  They also have a smaller travel size too!  I love this option.  You can easily try it out without breaking the bank.

Smudge factor/Flaking- I don’t have flaking with this mascara or smudging, it really stays in place.

Brush- I really like the brush for it’s unique patented sides.  Having one side for length and the other side for curling.  It really works!  It’s not so fat either, so makes it easy to get in the smaller corners.

Price- $28

Fitglow Good Lash + Mascara

Formula-  It gives my lashes volume, separation and some drama.  It definitely lifts them up and creates a lash that you can’t help but notice!  I love how you can build the formula on top of your lashes.  The formula is overall thicker but easy to apply to the lashes.  I felt the formula looked a little too worn in by the end of the day.  It didn’t hold up as well as others.  It gives your lashes a dose of vitamins and antioxidants with their nourishing formula.

Smudge factor/Flaking- I did have some flaking and smudging.

Brush- The brush on it is different than any other I’ve used.  It starts out wide and then gets narrower.  Great for getting the bitty lashes in the corner of the eye.

Price- $42

Beautycounter Volume Mascara

Formula-  The formula is drier overall and thicker.  It takes a couple coats to get the product on but one you do it really builds and you can get a thicker lash.  It doesn’t give my huge vixen lashes but some good volume and pigment.

Smudge factor/Flaking- I didn’t notice a lot of flaking until the tube got to the very end.  The formula seemed extra dry and it would flake easier on me.

Brush- The brush is a larger fat brush that goes in slightly in the middle.

Price- $29

Inika Long Lash Mascara(vegan)

Formula- The formula is pretty wet.  It gets better the more air gets to it.  Once I apply the first couple coats I move to the next eye and then come back to the first eye.  Then it’s easier to build it up more.  It really gives great length and separation, not as much volume.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It did smudge a little if I wasn’t careful letting it dry since the formula is on the wet side.  But no flaking.

Brush- It comes with a long brush.

Price- $33

Crunchi Shattered Mascara(vegan)

Formula- This is Crunchi’s new natural Mascara formula and it basically kicked everything up a notch!  It gives more volume, length and overall drama to the lashes.  It does this all without needing to apply several coats of mascara too.  I find one or two coats gives me instant lift and separation.  It’s a very goopy formula overall- lots of product on the brush.  If you want to look like you have mascara on and have those big lashes- this is your mascara.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It does tend to flake on me by the end of the day.  Especially if I workout.  However, I’ve learned some tricks in getting it to stay put- check out my free download to learn my tips!

Brush- Love the brush!  It’s bigger but not too big and a little smaller at the tip.

Price- $28

Natural mascaranatural mascara

Hynt Beauty Nocturne Mascara(gluten free)

Formula- The formula is drier.  It takes a few strokes to get the product on your lashes.  But once on you do you can really build it up on the ends to lengthen.  It gives my lashes separation, volume, and length.  Plus, some thickness.

Smudge factor/Flaking- Overall the smudging is minimal to none.  I don’t notice smudging as much as flakes sometimes as I’m nearing the end of the tube.  I think it’s more because the formula is drying out.  It’s a good reminder to switch it out.

Brush- It comes with a thick, fat spoodle brush. Love the brush!

Price- $24

Hush And Dotti Mascara(sensitive eyes/water resistant)

Formula- The formula is a great mix of dry and wet.  It goes on so easy and doesn’t require a ton of applications.  Gives my lashes thickness, length and separation.  A good building natural mascara. I was surprised how much I loved this one. It reminds me of Maybelline’s original Great Lash Mascara. FAVE!!!

Smudge factor/Flaking- It doesn’t smear on my eyelids or flake at all.

Brush- It’s a smaller standard mascara brush.  It gets smaller towards the end of the brush.

Price- $24

100% Pure Fruit Pigmented Mascara(sensitive eyes/water resistant)

Formula- This natural mascara is especially great for lengthening.  It also does an amazing job of separation.  It builds up quite well too after you let it dry for 30 seconds and go back and add some more.  It’s a wetter formula overall. It doesn’t claim to be waterproof but water resistant, which is pretty awesome for a mascara in natural beauty.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It can smear a bit if you don’t let it dry first.  Once you let it dry though it doesn’t flake.

Brush- The brush is curved a bit, thinner and longer.

Price- $25

W3ll People Exressionist Pro Mascara(gluten free)

Formula- At first I didn’t really like this mascara but after giving it two solid weeks I really liked it.  Initially, it was hard to get the product off the brush.  In my opinion, it gets better the more air is exposed to it.  It gets a little more goopy and helps the product to be able to build on your lashes.  It didn’t give me quite as much length as I would like but definitely gave my lashes a bit of drama and thickness.  It’s not a lightweight mascara, you can see there is product on your lashes.  Overall, definitely a great product.  There is a couple ingredients in it that scored a 5 or higher on EWG.  However, they don’t seem significant enough, especially with some data gaps.  They also have a mini version of this which is great for travel and nice if you want to try it out without breaking the bank.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It didn’t flake on me until the end of the tube.  Then I noticed some flakes around my eyes.

Brush- The brush wasn’t my fave- it’s the new high tech rubber brush.  I’m more into the old spoodle brushes.

Price- $21.99

Lily Lolo Mascara(vegan)

Formula- This mascara definitely gets some good product on your lashes. It gives your lashes some drama and lift. It’s more of a wetter formula.  A little harder to build the product on the lashes unless I wait a minute or two for the first coat to dry, since the formula is more wet.  The only thing I noticed was some irritation when my eyes would water-which was randomly when I had my second baby-hormones are real people!  I feel the formula got thicker and better the more I used it and air got to it.  It will make your lashes stand out for sure.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It does smudge a little the first week or so because the formula is wetter.  However, once you use it more the formula thickens and I didn’t have a problem with smudging.

Brush- The brush is a big fat brush- just the kind I like!

Price- $19.50

ZuZu Luxe Mascara(gluten free)

Formula- This a great everyday mascara, for someone who doesn’t want anything too dramatic.  However, it does add great color definition and builds well too.  It comes off easy at the end of the day.  It’s a great pick for those who have sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers.  It isn’t going to give you the drama or vixen lashes but a great option for those wanting something a little subdued and have sensitive eyes.  I also love how easy it is to find.  They sell it at most Whole Foods and natural grocery/health food stores.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It doesn’t smudge or flake on me.

Brush- The brush is a standard mascara wand.  Not big and gets smaller at the tip of the brush.

Price- $17.60

W3ll People Expressionist Volumizing Mascara(gluten free)

Formula- I wasn’t super impressed with this at first.  However, it got better as time went on, just like the original formula.  It adds a good amount of product on the lashes.  It isn’t as wet as the original formula, more of a dry formula overall.  It can really build.  It gives a good amount of volume on the lashes and can build the length the more you apply on the tips of lashes.  They also have a mini version of this one, so a great idea to try out before purchasing a large one.

Smudge factor/Flaking- It doesn’t smudge or flake on me.

Brush- The brush is a large fat brush all the way around

Price- $19.99

Natural Mascara Fails-

masc_vol1-525x700

Zao Organic Volume Mascara-

I wasn’t impressed with it.  The formula was so wet and it left my lashes more limp than vixen.  It smudged and came off easily too.  At $33.20 a pop, I was disappointed in the overall performance of this mascara.

mascara2_brush1_1024x1024-1

RMS Beauty Volumizing Mascara-

This was probably the biggest flop.  If you’ve been around natural beauty long enough you know RMS Beauty.  Their products are so good.  However, it unfortunately didn’t translate into their mascara.  The product is almost invincible on my lashes.  I had to coat them but even then you could hardly see the product or a difference.  It flaked too.  Not worth it at $28.

1855

Jane Iredale Purelash Lengthening Mascara-

This is similar to RMS mascara in my opinion.  It was hard to see the product on my lashes or even notice I had on mascara, it was so subtle.  If you like your mascara to look as natural as possible then this would be your mascara.  But for me I want some drama in my lashes!  $24

Natural Mascara

Juice Beauty Photo-Pigments Ultra-Natural Mascara-

This did absolutely nothing for my eyelashes- like nothing!  It’s such a wet formula and doesn’t build, add volume or anything.  Wouldn’t recommend this at all. $24

Natural mascara

Ere Perez Natural Almond Mascara-

This didn’t do anything for my eyelashes.  It hardly gives much pigment on the lashes.  I really had to coat them several times to get anything on them.  I like to look like I’m wearing something so it didn’t work for me. It claims to be waterproof too but it smudged on me.  If you like something that looks really natural and is for sensitive eyes you may like it.  Just not my cup of tea. $27.30

Natural Mascara

Lola Lash Too Antonym Mascara

Didn’t love the formula. Too wet and couldn’t get any build from it.  It didn’t add length or volume.  Just added some wet pigment.  It smudged too since it was so wet.  I didn’t love the brush either.  $26

That sums up my mascara post!  I hope it helped you have a better idea of what mascara you should go for.  Let me know what mascara you’re loving!

Best Natural Body Oil

Best Natural Body Oil

Sharing the best natural body oil products in this post!  I’ve been testing and testing for quite some time and I’ve rounded out the best of the best when it comes to natural body oil products.  I have luxe options as well as some budget friendly options that won’t break the bank.  Before we dive into my top recommendations I wanted to share the importance of choosing a natural body oil.

Often people assume a body oil contains just a few random natural oils and there isn’t much to be concerned about.  It’s true that a body oil contains much simpler ingredients than a body lotion. A body oil doesn’t typically require a preservative because it doesn’t contain water. However, some companies might include a preservative in the oil when it’s diluted with water.  This is a red flag in my opinion when you see water in a body oil as it’s not a true oil moisturizer and usually is a cheaper body oil that’s trying to cut corners.  When you add water to formulas it poses the risk of bacteria growing that is why you see preservatives always in a body lotion, more than a body oil since body lotions contain water.  Unless you’re actively reading the labels of all your products, body oil can actually contain a list of harmful ingredients you don’t want to be slathering on your body everyday.

For me that’s where the real harm comes in.  The consistency in which you use a product.  When you’re using a body oil everyday, the toxic load can build up.  This can have a big impact on your overall health if you’re not careful.  Since body oil and body lotion is applied on a large portion of our bodies, the exposure can be that much greater due to the surface area.  Add that in with how a body oil is applied everyday and you’ve got a recipe for harmful chemicals to build up.

According to the CDC:

Dermal absorption is the transport of a chemical from the outer surface of the skin both into the skin and into the body. Studies show that absorption of chemicals through the skin can occur without being noticed by the worker, and in some cases, may represent the most significant exposure pathway. -CDC

I think we often think about exposure in terms of food or even cleaning chemicals, but not the everyday products we put on our skin- like body oil.  This can present a problem as these are the products we are literally touching with are hands and applying to our bodies everyday.  As you can see, the importance of reading labels becomes even more important when it comes to our beauty products.

You may have heard the quote:

Your skin absorbs 60% of whatever we put on it.

Some say it’s not exactly 60% others say more.  Whatever exact number it is, we know one thing is for sure, our body does absorb some of what we put on it.  There have even been studies done on the umbilical cords of newborn babies that have found over 200 harmful pollutants and chemicals in the umbilical cord according to the Environmental Working Group.

In a study spearheaded by the Environmental Working Group (EWG) in collaboration with Commonweal, researchers at two major laboratories found an average of 200 industrial chemicals and pollutants in umbilical cord blood from 10 babies born in August and September of 2004 in U.S. hospitals. Tests revealed a total of 287 chemicals in the group. The umbilical cord blood of these 10 children, collected by Red Cross after the cord was cut, harbored pesticides, consumer product ingredients, and wastes from burning coal, gasoline, and garbage. -EWG

Are bells going off in your head?  Did you see where they found consumer product ingredients in the umbilical cord?  Pretty crazy.  That means not only did the products the mother applied to your body, cross her skin, but all the way into the umbilical cord.  There are many chemicals made today that are specifically put in a product because it helps other ingredients penetrate even further into your skin.  Let’s deep dive into some of the ingredients you don’t want to see in your body oil or body lotion.

Ingredients to avoid in body oil-

  • Parabens-(This includes methyl-, propyl- ethyl-,butyl-) Pretty common in most skincare products.  Hormone disruptor also known as endocrine disruptor.  Has been found in breast cancer tumors, may cause male infertility and early puberty. They are added to body lotions to help preserve the product.
  • Petroleum/Mineral Oil- Reports they are cancer-causing. Can be found in body oil products and lotions. Can cause skin irritation from rashes and has been linked to cancer.
  • Fragrance- Can cause photo-toxic reactions and can be photo-allergic.  Skin irritant, and has been known as a neurotoxin. Can really be found in anything if you don’t read the label but especially common in body oil and lotion.  This word alone can contain up to 700 chemicals.  The FDA doesn’t regulate it, all they ask is that companies list fragrance.  With fragrance also comes phthalates
  • Propylene Glycol & PEG’s-(This includes -4, -6, -8…etc) Has been found to be contaminated with 1, 4 dioxane, which is cancer causing.  Can cause acne, skin irritant. This ingredient actually helps other ingredients penetrate your skin more.  So not only are you getting exposed to this harmful chemical but you’re also helping other harmful chemicals dive deeper into your skin!
  • BHA & BHT– Are known hormone disruptors, carcinogen, and have been linked to liver damage.  They are in body oil products or lotion to preserve the product.
  • Canola Oil- Now this might not be toxic to your body topically but most canola oil produced is genetically modified(GMO) and is inflammatory when ingested.  I’ve seen this on so called natural brands.  If you see this on a label be weary of a company.  This is cheap way to produce a body oil.  Who wants to be rubbing GMO’s all over their skin?  Not me!
  • Stearalkonium Chloride– Reproductive toxicity, potential negative effects on the nervous system and cause irritation to the skin and eyes.
  • FD&C Dyes(artificial dyes)- This is a little bit of a grey area.  I wanted to address it because I’ve actually seen artificial dyes in body products and it concerns me.  I do use some products with artificial dyes, however it’s only with makeup- a body lotion does not need color!  But again it’s important to know the sourcing and to consider the amount.  Many makeup colors cannot be made without the use of synthetic colors.  The amount in most formulations is literally less than 1%- if you think of how big a tube of lipstick is that means the formulation contains less than 1% of synthetic color.  I’m ok with a little synthetic color.  I know some people aren’t.  You have to make that decision for yourself.  I wanted to bring it up because I don’t want to be rubbing synthetic dyes over my whole body- there’s no need.  The reason it’s in makeup is because it serves a purpose.

Body Oil Vs. Body Lotion + Application-

Now you might wonder why you should use a body oil over a body lotion, or what the difference is?  Allow me to explain.  A body oil is similar to what are own skin naturally produces to hydrate our skin. It basically mimics our own skin oils, so as we apply body oils to our skin.  An oil is best after you shower and your skin is still slightly damp.  It will help lock in moisture and really seal it in. If water isn’t on your skin when you apply an oil it will likely sit on top of the skin and feel greasy.  That’s why it’s important to add an oil to slightly damp skin.  Also, be sure you’re not using too much!  Often people complain of greasy skin after applying a body oil but it’s because they’ve applied too much.  A little goes a long way when using a body oil.

A lotion is going to penetrate the skin deeper because of the water content in them.  As they go deeper into the skin they are able to bring other nutrients with them.  It really comes down to personal preference on whether you prefer a body oil or body lotion.  I like using a combination of both.

Also, different oils are meant to do different things for the skin.  Some absorb more easily, others can take a little more time.  Bottom line is not every oil is created equal.  Body oils can also be very relaxing and calming too.  Many of them contain essential oils that help to calm and soothe the skin.  A body oil can also repair the skin too.  Many oils are known for helping to fade hyperpigmentation, stretch marks and redness.  Body oils can also be used as a natural perfume.  Many of them contain essential oils and as the essential oils are diffused in the oil it really prolongs their scent, compared to if the essential oils were by themselves.  This is one of my favorite ways to add a little scent to myself without spritzing on a traditional perfume.  It is lighter overall.

Best Body Oils For Skin-

What are the best body oils for your skin?  I get this question a lot.  There are definitely some oils that are made specifically for the skin.

  • Jojoba Oil- This oil is so similar to our bodies own oils that it’s a perfect skincare oil.  A very hydrating oil, plus it contains Vitamin E too.  This oil is also non-comedogenic so it’s not going to clog your pores.
  • Rosehip Oil- This oil is naturally very soothing. It contains both Vitamins C and A.  It helps reduce redness, help fight sun damage, and brightens skin.
  • Argan Oil- Known for evening oil skin tone, hydrating, help improve overall elasticity.  Good for stretch marks and scars.
  • Sesame Oil- It’s anti-microbial, anti-inflammatory, also an oil filled with antioxidants.  Vitamin E is rich in sesame oil which can help with free radical damage from environmental factors.
  • Avocado Oil- Rich in chlorophyll which naturally brightens the skin.  Very hydrating and helps relieve inflammation.  Also, can speed up wound healing.
  • Olive Oil- Great for sensitive skin.  It is rich in fatty acids, it is a natural humectant that draws moisture to your skin. Contains antioxidants Vitamin E and K.
  • Sunflower Seed Oil- Contains stearic acids which are great for toning and tightening the skin. Great for sensitive skin and very hydrating.
  • Almond Oil- Has Vitamins, A, E and B which help to help to seal moisture into the skin.  Very hydrating and nourishing oil.  It also is anti-inflammatory and can help reduce puffiness around the eye area.  Also, great for skin tone.
  • Macademia Nut Oil- A great rich oil that doesn’t feel greasy, melts right into the skin.  Also, anti-inflammatory.  It has linoleic acid in it which helps to restore skin’s barrier function.

I’ve rounded out my favorite natural body oil products for you!  After years of testing out so many formulas I’ve put together my favorite body oils, so you can be sure to find one you love.  I have many different formulas, with different oils in them.  Check out the list below to find your new fave!

Natural Body Oil Products

Osmia Naked Body Oil-

Body Oil

This is definitely one of my very favorites.  I’ve gone through several bottles and I’m always sad when it’s gone.  If you’re into luxe products then you need to snag some Osmia Night Body Oil.  A blend of lavender, chamomile and cedar wood overtake your senses.  It’s meant to be applied after you shower on damp skin and at night.  The combination of the essential oils help you drift off into a blissful sleep.  With a combination of almond oil, jojoba, rosehip seed oil and hemp- to name a few, this oil will take your skin to a new level of hydration and tone in a couple weeks.  I can’t get enough!  I also love how they have small bottle- perfect for travel.  If you prefer to have an essential oil free body oil, check out their Naked version.  Equally delectable but free of any scent but the oils.  Get them here.

Maya Chia The Revitalizer-

Body Oil

This body oil smells heavenly.  I apply it right after the shower and it soaks right into my skin.  The moisture lasts too!  My skin feels hydrated throughout the day.  Did I mention the packaging?  Dark glass pump bottle-swoon worthy. I do love that it comes in a dark glass bottle as it protects the oils from light.  I’ve been using this non-stop and can’t get enough. I love how I smell afterwards, a mixture of rose and neroli, but not strong at all.  This oil really contains ALL the things!  From essential fatty acids, antioxidants, and vitamins- it helps to protect, hydrate and tone your skin all at once.  Get it here.

Pure Radiance Body Oil

Body oil

I’m obsessed with this body oil!  It literally is so luxurious.  It smells like sandalwood, cedarwood and orange.  I love how it comes in a pump form- easy application.  It is filled with so many antioxidants and fatty acids that make this a power packed oil, while at the same time a very nourishing and hydrating oil.  But get this- it doesn’t feel greasy, not at all!  It glides on your skin effortlessly but doesn’t leave that slimy feeling.  Once you try it, you’ll be hooked!  A great natural perfume too. Grab it here!

Khus Thus Body Wax-

Body Oil

Can I be honest, I really thought I had tried all the body oils/lotions out there…then I tried this body wax by Khus+Khus and I was quickly mistaken.  This isn’t like a typical liquid oil, but comes in a wax form that melts into an oil when applied to the skin.  I love the texture!  First off it smells amazing.  I’m not into super fragrant products and this product is the perfect balance(I tried the Bleu Body Wax).  With ingredients of blue tansy, and blue yarrow this wax is perfect for helping with inflamed skin, as both are anti-inflammatory.  The Blue Tansy is especially great for bringing relief to tired sore muscles, strains, etc. If you have eczema or irritated skin, this is a great way to soothe your skin. A little goes a long way.  It instantly absorbs into your skin, no greasy feeling and leaves you hydrated the whole day.  I have to say the wax is really more of an experience from start to finish.  It awakens me in the morning and soothes me at night.  I can’t get enough!  Plus, can we talk about the luxe packaging?  It’s housed in a dark glass jar.  Get it here.

Khus Khus Body Serum-

Body Oil

This is another product from Khus Khus and smells amazing!  I love Blue Tansy if you can’t tell.  An amazing oil that really helps to calm and soothe the skin.  This soaks right into the skin and leave my skin feeling hydrated for days!  It makes me feel overall calmer when I use it too.  Blue Tansy just has that affect on me.  I can’t get enough of it.  It feels very rich, especially great if you have very dry skin and it’s sensitive or prone to redness.  This will help to calm and soothe it.  Get it here.

Max & Me Circle Of Protection Body Oil-

Body oil

It’s a body oil, but it’s hard to even call it “just” a body oil.  It really is something so much more.  The ingredients include some of the best organic oils.  From argan, rosehip, marula and magnolia, just to name a few.  The oil is thicker in consistency but not greasy feeling at all.  It goes on smooth and doesn’t leave a weird residue.  Your skin feels perfectly hydrated and not wet feeling.  I have to tell you about the smell-so wonderful!  With notes of jasmine, geranium, and rose that literally awaken your senses and uplift you.  I’ve done through two bottles.  It’s so good!  A serious skin luxury. Get it here.

Leven Rose Rosehip Seed Oil-

Body oil

This is actually one of the very first organic oils I ever bought when transitioning to natural beauty over 10 years ago.  It isn’t expensive yet it does the job and does it well.  With one singular oil, it isn’t complicated, but a simple oil that leaves your skin feeling hydrated and not greasy.  Jojoba oil is such a great oil to use on the skin too, as it’s the closest oil to what your skin naturally produces.  What makes this jojoba oil great too is it’s cold pressed, so they’re not using heat to extract it, so the oil is left intact.  Better yet you can get it from Amazon!  Get it here.

African Botanics Marula Firming Botanical Oil-

body oil

I started using this after my third baby and let’s just say I noticed a difference after using it!  Any other mamas want a little firming action post baby?  Yeah, me too.  Marula oil is known for it’s tightening and firming abilities.  This marula oil is wild harvested and then cold-pressed, keeping the oil intact.  The combination of the marula oil, plus the pinotage grapeseed oil gives your skin a serious dose of skin firming help by addressing skin dryness, aging, slackness and elasticity.  It’s a one-two punch for your skin!  I applied this after showering while my skin was still damp and massaged in circular motions.  It really helped to plump up my skin, but didn’t feel greasy.  This would be a great gift for any new mom!  Get it here.

Free + True Body Prophet

body oil

It wouldn’t be right not to include this product in the best body oil, even though it’s technically not a body oil!  Obsessed with it!  They actually call it a body serum.  In my mind it’s a cross between a body oil and a lotion- it’s like a creamy lotion/oil.  Whatever, you want to call it, it’s so good.  I was introduced to the brand in a Beauty Heroes box this year and fell in love with the product.  For a beauty blogger to go through a product you know it’s a big deal!  I literally am currently scraping the bottom of the bottle- it’s that good.  I love how it comes in a glass pump bottle, makes it so easy for application.  I also love how it smells.  Such a light scent, nothing overwhelming.  Plus, it has antioxidants that help to protect your skin.  The overall feel is so lightweight.  It absorbs instantly into the skin and doesn’t leave behind a greasy residue.  I want another bottle stat!  If you’re looking for a new body lotion- this is it.  Get it here!

OSEA Undaria Algae Body Oil

Body Oil

This body oil is full of antioxidants!  It has Undaria seaweed which is then mixed with a ton of skin loving oils like açaí, babassu and passion fruit.  This combination helps to smooth and firm skin from stretch marks, as well as tone your skin.  It doesn’t feel too heavy or greasy.  It absorbs nicely into the skin.  The Algae alone is soaked in barrels for 6 months in order to extract all the rich vitamins and minerals from it.  It’s basically a living oil that transforms and treats your skin!  It feels very energizing too with an overall citrus scent.  Great for in the morning after your shower and you want a little zesty pick me up!  Get it here.

Agent Nateur holi(Body) Ageless Body Serum-

Body Oil

This body serum is unlike any body serum I’ve used in the past.  It is filled with superpower ingredients from argan, jojoba, rosehip, rose, sandalwood and so many more.  It doesn’t feel greasy when applied!  I repeat doesn’t feel greasy when applied.  Not only does it help to restore moisture balance but it also helps to tone and firm the skin with caffeine and theobromine.  I love that the scent isn’t too powerful. You get notes of rose mainly with hints of sandalwood mixed in.  Your skin will feel all kinds of soft when using this after you shower!  Get it here.

Detox Mode All Together Oil-

body oil

This oil is a newer find for me.  It comes in plastic, which I’m not crazy about but I do like the oil and the price isn’t as steep as the others.  A nice option, especially on a budget or if you’re traveling and don’t want to take glass.  It also comes in a spray form which I love.  It feels light on the skin and absorbs quickly.  I like the scent, a mixture of citrus, twig and cardamom, it is a great scent for wearing as a natural perfume.  It really lingers and makes me feel fresh all day.  It has blend of macadamia, jojoba and grapeseed oils.  Taking your skin’s hydration to the next level!  A great morning oil after you shower to wake you up and get you smelling fresh!  Get it here.

I hoped this help you find a natural body oil that you love!

Up And Coming Natural Beauty Brands

Up And Coming Natural Beauty Brands

So excited for this post featuring up and coming natural beauty brands!  As a seasoned natural beauty blogger, I can spot a new natural beauty brand fairly quickly.  It’s been 10 years since I swapped my conventional beauty products for new ones.  Since then I’ve really been able to see what makes a product unique and special.  Recently, I’ve found 3 new natural beauty brands that have really caught my attention.  They’re all a little different and their products speak for themselves.  I wanted to showcase these new brands and hear a little behind the scenes from their founders of what made them decide to delve into the world of natural beauty and more.  Plus, share my reviews of their products of course.  I think you’re going to love getting to know these up and coming natural beauty brands and their products they have to offer!

Up And Coming Natural Beauty Brands

Alpyn Beauty Review

These beauties have taken up permanent residence in my skincare routine!

Alpyn Beauty

I have loved getting to know this brand from the products to the maker.  I first tried their Survival Serum and thought wow, I need to try more.  It left my skin glowing with an overall brightness.  So then I tried their PlantGenius Melt Moisturizer and yet again was so impressed by how it performed.  My skin was left hydrated and not greasy feeling.  It it heavy enough to moisturize but light enough to wear during the day time or over your favorite facial oil.  Your skin feels silky.  I also have since fallen hard for their Line- Filling Eye Balm.  This eye balm is so unique.  It looks similar to a cream but it’s not.  It is lighter in texture and soaks seamlessly into the skin.  I pat it on with my ring finger- the finger with the least amount of muscles, so less chance of pulling the delicate eye area.  It brightens, hydrates and de-puffs.  Not too mention, the long term benefits of faded fine lines- yes I’ll take it!  I use this morning and night and have no plans of stopping- addicted.

I love how this brand truly takes wildcraft to the next level. If you are unfamiliar with the term wildcrafting, I am sharing an exert from Alpyn Beauty’s Site on what true wildcrafting means.

Wildcrafting (sometimes known as foraging) is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural, or “wild” habitat, primarily for food or medicinal purposes.  -Alpyn Beauty

Alpyn Beauty uses wildcraft ingredients from Jackson Hole Wyoming where the formulas are created.  These plants withstand so much to survive the harsh climate changes.  From sub zero temperatures, to the scorching heat, these plants have learned how to protect and thrive.  Alpyn Beauty then takes these precious plants and uses their superpowers in their formulas to create skincare magic.  Just as the plants protected themselves from the elements, so they do on the skin.  These plant actives are what Alpyn Beauty likes to call their PlantGenius.  Ingredients that have stood the test of time and are consistent at being resilient in the face of the wild.  The ingredient complex of PlantGenius include, wild arnica, wild chamomile, borage, calendula, and sage.  These ingredients are next level when it comes to delivering skincare results.

Alpyn Beauty also hand-cultivates their PlantGenious ingredient complex.  They describe hand-cultivating so well on their site.

Hand-cultivating is the act of caring for or raising plants individually by hand, rather than machine.

As you can see Alpyn Beauty takes natural beauty to new heights with their attention to every detail of the formulation process.  This in turn creates products that are truly special.  I can’t help but geek out a little when I use their products knowing the amount of attention and thought that went into every step.  And you thought you were just using a moisturizer…

Alpyn Beauty has been so kind to offer my readers 20% off!  Use code: GONEGREEN.  Expires May 31 at 11:59 pm. Shop here!

Alpyn Beauty Review

Alpyn Beauty faves- Calming Midnight Mask with Melatonin & Wild Dandelion and Melt Moisturizer.

Interview With Founder Kendra:

1. What made you decide to start Alpyn Beauty?

It was actually not planned at all! I had spent 20 years working at prestige skincare brands in New York. In 2015, we moved our family from Manhattan to Jackson Hole to get away from the stress & toxins of the city.  I quickly realized there was nowhere to buy prestige skincare in Jackson Hole, so I opened my own beauty stores.
I quickly noticed my clients were dissatisfied and not seeing results with everything that I was offering in the store. The climate in the mountains is so severe, nothing was bringing their skin the relief it needed. One day, I was sitting in my backyard looking at the wild, hydrated, juicy plants in the mountains and started wondering, how has the natural flora evolved to survive (and thrive) in a place that was wreaking havoc on the skin, what is in this self-adopting juice? When I discovered that skincare ingredients were growing naturally all around me, I began studying wildcrafting and the rest all just happened from there.

2. What can people expect from your products?  Is there a theme,
special ingredient, ritual?

We are the wildcrafted brand. Wildcrafting is the practice of harvesting plants from their natural, or wild, habitat. When done sustainably and with
respect, only the fruit, flowers or branches are carefully removed, and the living plant is left healthy and intact. As a brand we believe in PlantGenius –
which are the Fresh Mountain Actives that we sustainably harvest from the mountains of Jackson Hole, Wyoming. They are in every product. We then combine our potent wild actives with the industry’s latest, and most trusted, breakthrough ingredients—from Bakuchiol to Melatonin—to effectively, and gently, address skin concerns and the signs of aging. We use real botanicals to deliver real results.

3. What is your favorite product from the line?

I love all the babies the same, however, the survival serum has a special place in my heart. It really works- plus it’s pink and sparkly! I can see it on the skin of my clients when I’m in a yoga class and in the grocery store. I know exactly who’s wearing it- their skin has this ethereal illumination/glow.  I can spot it on them from across the room. I got the idea when I was looking at the glistening sunlit crystals on the surface of the snow. It made everything look so smooth and even- I wanted to bottle that brightening & resurfacing phenomenon and I think we got pretty close.

4. I was excited to see Bakuchiol in some of your formulas, what
made you want to include it in your formulations?

I’m so glad to see that bakuchiol is finally having its moment in the sun!  I stumbled upon it when I was pregnant and breastfeeding and was told I couldn’t use retinol. I spent many years working with skincare brands that produced clinical products containing retinol. While retinol has so many amazing benefits, the bottom line is that it’s not for everyone. Bakuchiol on the other hand is a plant-derived ingredient that has been clinically proven to have similar results- but it comes directly from the Earth! A win/win. When I started using the ingredient, I was shocked that my skin looked as good (if not better!) as it did when I was using retinol, but I wasn’t
experiencing any of the negative side effects.

5. Speaking of skincare ingredients, what is your favorite ingredient to
use in products and why?

Anything that grows naturally from the Earth (which is how we wildcraft, without the help of a farmer) is my favorite ingredient! We are always on the hunt for new actives that are growing deep in the forests and valleys of Jackson Hole, and are excited to see what changes they can bring to the skin.

6. What does your skincare routine currently look like?

How long do you have? Seriously though, I think I have over 200 products in my bathroom right now. I try everything. I am always online reading
reviews and researching what people are talking about. I think over the years my husband has become accustomed to that fact that one drawer in
the bathroom is his, and the other dozen or so are always mine. But he doesn’t mind, because I think I’ve turned him into a product junkie too by
now. It’s just seeped in via osmosis, and I’m happy to share! Brands I am intro right now are Westman Atelier, Tower 28, Innersense and my Ellis
Brooklyn fragrance.

7. What are you currently reading(book), listening to (podcast/book)and watching (show/documentary)?

I wish I had more time for books and TV. I am watching the Michael Jordan series with my husband called The Last Dance and I found it incredibly motivational. I hike each morning and wouldn’t get through the steep climb without my Fat Mascara or Goop podcasts.

8. Best piece of advice you have ever received?

You have to be an advocate for what you believe in. I spent so many years in my early career being nice, polite and agreeable, but that is changing as I get older.
Whether you are a mother advocating for you child or a brand founder looking out for your brand – don’t leave the outcome up to somebody else.  Speak up and fight for what you need, in a respectful way of course!

9. You currently have 5(standout) products, can we expect more from
your line in the future?

Yes, stay tuned!!! We have a big one coming out in October 2020. I just approved the formula and I scrape the bottom of the jar every night when I apply it. I can’t give it all away, but I will give a two-word clue and that is “Wild Huckleberries.”  🙂

10. If you could tell my readers one thing when it comes to clean
beauty, what would it be?

Clean doesn’t mean “wimpy.” Just because a formula is natural and eco-friendly, doesn’t mean that it can’t deliver hard hitting clinical, visible results.  I was shocked at the benefits I saw when I switched my regimen from clinical to natural, even though I was hesitant to make the switch at first.

Wellnesse Review

New favorite natural toothpaste alert! This whitening toothpaste from Wellnesse is so good.

Wellnesse

If you’ve been in the natural scene or world for any length of time then you’ve heard of Wellness Mama. Katie from Wellness Mama started her blog over a decade ago and has since become a respected source for all things natural living.  I remember when I first started transitioning my life over to a natural lifestyle and reading Katie’s blog posts.  I still do!  It was an easy choice to add Wellnesse into the up and coming natural beauty brands list.  Now she has an amazing podcast.  If you haven’t checked it out be sure too here- I learn so much listening!  The information she shares and passion in which she shares it is contagious.  It is one of my very favorites and one I listen to weekly.  She has a way of sharing information that might seem overwhelming or complicated and breaking it down into practical tips.

When I first learned Katie had launched a new natural beauty line I was so excited!  If you’ve perused her website at all then you’ve come across her many DIY recipes for natural beauty.  She’s taken years of testing out different formulations and turned them into a company called Wellnesse that you can now buy and not have to make!  I love the simplistic approach Wellnesse takes with their natural beauty products.  They are real products, with real ingredients.  They really stand on 3 core principles when it comes to their products:

  • The Highest Ratings Possible- Each formulation is curated in such a way to make sure they rate as clean as they can on the EWG.

  • Only What’s Best For Your Body- Each formula is made to exclude all the toxins you would find in conventional brands.

  • Better Practices Every Step Of The Way- They are committed to building a brand that is both sustainable and supports minority-owned businesses.

I love how important ingredients are to Wellnesse as well.  On their website they list out their ingredients, what they do, a description, their rating on the EWG and what product it can be found in.  I absolutely love this transparency!  Often I look up a product’s ingredients and can hardly find them, if at all on a website.  This ingredient information really is so beneficial for a consumer looking to understand why ingredients are used.

I also wanted to applaud Wellnesse for creating products that are both effective but also budget friendly.  Often the two don’t mix when natural and budget come together.  However, Wellnesse has found a way to bridge the gap and create products that are both.  You can get a shampoo and conditioner for $30!  Or a bundle, where you get a shampoo, conditioner and toothpaste for $40.  In a world where natural shampoos typically range from $25- $35 this is a welcome change of pace.  Makes switching to natural products less of a stretch and more affordable for everyone.

*Another bonus is they offer free returns and exchanges if you’re not completely satisfied with your product within 30 days.  A huge plus as buying products online can seem challenging at times.  This really ensures you love your products.

So far I’ve tried their Whitening toothpaste, Cleansing Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner.  Their toothpaste is a newfound favorite of mine!  I love that it is glycerin free.  Glycerin has been known to coat teeth and prevent teeth from absorbing important minerals.  It keeps my mouth feeling minty fresh.  I also have been using their cleansing shampoo and nourishing conditioner.  The shampoo gets my hair feeling so clean and has a great lather to it.  The nourishing conditioner is light for my fine thin hair and doesn’t weigh it down at all.  The conditioner is very light and doesn’t give it a ton of hydration.  It works for my hair since it’s fine, thin and currently most of it isn’t colored.  If you have thicker hair, or color treated hair that needs more moisture I would recommend the enriching conditioner as it would be more hydrating.

Wellnesse Product Review

Wellnesse Cleansing Shampoo and Nourishing Conditioner.

Interview With Founder- Katie Wells From Wellnessmama.com

1. What made you decide to start Wellnesse?

I realized that even some of my most naturally minded friends were still using a few conventional personal care products because they were more effective. I’d been making homemade alternatives for years and knew that we could create products that avoided all the problematic ingredients and that were more effective than their chemical-laden counterparts.

2. What can people expect from your products? Is there a theme, special ingredient, intention?

All Wellnesse products use only EWG safe ingredients so you can feel safe using them on the whole family. We also go beyond just non-toxic and safe to create products that are packed with beneficial ingredients to nourish the body from the outside in.

3. What is your favorite product from the line?
I am really proud of all of our products, but our Whitening Toothpaste is my favorite. I spent years perfecting this recipe to support the oral microbiome, provide the minerals our teeth need to be healthy and white, and to be free of all harmful ingredients. Ever read a regular toothpaste label? It warns that it should be kept out of reach of children and to call the poison control center if ingested. I wasn’t comfortable letting my kids use a product like that twice a day, and knew we could do better!

4. I was excited to see you started with hair products and toothpaste, what made you decide to start there?

Those were the biggest offenders in most bathrooms, and most people use those products daily. I realized that if we could get people to switch to natural products in those areas, we’d reduce their exposure to many chemicals by as much as 80%!

5. Having been an avid blog reader of yours for years I know how important transparency is for you. How did this translate over into Wellnesse when creating the formulas and listing the ingredients?

I wanted to be just as radically transparent with Wellnesse. In an industry where ingredients are often green-washed or hidden, it was important to us to go out of our way to list every ingredient and explain it’s purpose and benefit. We use only EWG safe ingredients and go beyond just safe to include ingredients that are beneficial to the body in various ways.

6. Can you share about your packaging when it comes to your formulas?

We’re continually working to innovate our packaging. Unfortunately, there aren’t any perfect options yet (though I’m hopeful that we will see many more packing choices within the next couple of years). For now, we use sustainable sugarcane packaging that is compostable in commercial compost facilities, and we’re testing several other sustainable options.

7. What are you currently reading(book), listening to(podcast/book) and watching(show/documentary)?

Reading: Algorithms to Live By, Indistractable, and The Conscious Parent
Listening: Caffeine by Michael Pollan (audiobook),
Watching: Recently watched The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel (series) and Fantastic Fungi (Documentary).

8. Best piece of advice you have ever received?

Two things come to mind… the first from a favorite teacher in high school who always told us to “question everything constantly, including and especially me.” This advice has served me well in life and business, and I often say this same thing to my kids.  Another great piece of advice is the idea found in stoic works about focusing only on what we can control and not stressing about things that we can’t.

A few of my favorite quotes related to this:
“All you need are these: certainty of judgment in the present moment; action for the common good in the present moment; and an attitude of gratitude in the present moment for anything that comes your way.”
— Marcus Aurelius
“The chief task in life is simply this: to identify and separate matters so that I can say clearly to myself with are externals, not under my control, and which have to do with the choice I control. Where then do I look for good and evil? Not to uncontrollable externals, but within myself to the choices that are my own.” — Epictetus
“Forces beyond your control can take away everything you possess except one thing, your freedom to choose how you will respond to the situation.” – Viktor Frankl

9. You currently have 6 products, can we expect more from your line in the future?

Yes! We will be releasing a volumizing dry shampoo soon and have locked in formulas for our next few products that I am so excited to get to share within the next year!

10. If you could tell my readers one thing when it comes to clean beauty, what would it be?

Simple is almost always better! We’ve been told for years that we need all kinds of fancy and expensive products to keep our skin and hair healthy, when often a few simple products and ingredients will work just as well. Often the essential things for beauty aren’t even product related at all: hydration, sleep, time in nature, and meaningful relationships. And I always love to come back to the Audrey Hepburn quote: “For beautiful eyes, look for the good in others; for beautiful lips, speak only words of kindness; and for poise, walk with the knowledge that you are never alone.”

Beuti Skincare Review

Can’t stop using these two products by at Beuti Skincare- The Sleep Elixir and The Pomegranate Glow Enzyme Cleanser.

Beuti Skincare

I was introduced to Beauti Skincare a couple months back and didn’t think much until I started to use their Beauty Sleep Elixir Oil product and was wowed.  Then I did a deep dive into the brand to discover more and had to share an official Beuti Skincare review with you.  I then learned that Princess Kate loves the Beauty Sleep Elixir too- not surprised!  I then tried there Pomegranate 3-in-1 Enzyme Cleanser and was once again sold on another one of their products. I am still using both products daily!  I use the Enzyme Cleanser in the morning.  I love how it really wakes up my skin and doesn’t feel stripping.  Yet, it doesn’t feel super oily right before I apply my makeup.

I also use their Beauty Sleep Elixir product and it’s almost halfway gone.  Definitely says something as a clean beauty blogger.  The Sleep Elixir feels rich on the skin but not overly oily.  It sinks right into my complexion and leaves it feeling dewy and with a glow.  I’ve never read so many rave reviews about an oil- for real!  It has over 305 on Credo Beauty’s website.  It’s definitely a fan favorite.  I apply it at night after cleansing and toning and in the morning after cleansing and toning.  It’s made especially for sensitive skin too.  You will love it!  Check it out here.

Beuti Skincare is based in the U.K. and is founded by an aesthetician who wanted to create a skincare line that was pure and free from fillers, and irritants.  She wanted a line that would be great for sensitive skin and also wouldn’t break the bank.  I love the list of superpower ingredients on their website.  Listing out why they use them in their concoctions. It’s no wonder the Sleep Elixir is so powerful.  I also learned what inflammaging is from Beuti Skincare.

Inflammaging is a process that is caused by chronic inflammation and this is not just the redness and irritation we see on the surface of
the skin but the underlying damage we do not see. It is this very underlying inflammation that causes collagen and elastin degredation
and a breakdown of the skin’s barrier function.  -Beauti Skincare

We can repair inflammaging by using antioxidants, and anti-inflammatories on our skin that will help to restore the skin.  One more reason to snag their Sleep Elixir and let it get to work on your skin!
