Natalie (aka Nat) is the 23-year-old wellness blogger, certified personal trainer and certified holistic health coach behind Plenty and Well. Nat is also an ulcerative colitis fighter – an autoimmune disease that effects her gut – and she uses her voice and platform to speak out and help others that struggle with the same, or similar, diseases. She is also a huge self-love advocate, believer in holistic wellness (beyond just food and fitness) and paleo recipe-developer. She loves long-distance running, weight lifting, drizzling her entire life with almond butter, baking, reading, writing poetry and spending time outdoors in the beautiful Pacific Northwest.

What has your journey looked like navigating life with ulcerative colitis? You’ve experienced some ups and downs but you seem very upbeat!
What are some things that have helped you the most in your journey with ulcerative colitis?
I also love how you used to feel trapped in a world of health and wellness where you had to workout for two hours and be super strict with your diet. What does it look like now for you in 2019? How has this impacted your life?
I love how you emphasize wellness in regards to what your thinking, relationship, self care- all the things. How has looking at life besides food and exercise made a difference in your life?

In episode #19 we are learning about a holistic approach to dentistry with Dr. Kristen Graham. Dr. Kristen graduated from the University of Maryland with a BS in Biological Sciences. She then continued on to dental school, and graduated from the University of Maryland School of Dentistry in 2013. In pursuit of biologic dentistry she became certified Integrative Biologic Dental Medicine (IBDM) in 2017 by the American College of Integrative Medicine and Dentistry, with additional certifications in Naturopathy through the American Naturopathic Medical Certification Board. She recently graduated from AFMCP (Advanced Functional Medicine in Clinical Practice) at the Institute for Functional Medicine in 2018. Dr. Kristen consults with clients one-on-one in her online practice, and in private practice addressing each client as the individual they are.She focuses on systemic, oral, physical and emotional well-being from a functional, biologic and spiritual approach. Dr. Kristen resides in Maryland with her husband and two rhodesian ridgbacks.
In episode 16 we are hearing how tongue tie affects babies and adults with Sarah Hornsby. Sarah graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Dental Hygiene from Eastern Washington University. With an interest in natural health and wellness, and getting to the root cause of health problems, she subsequently became interested in how the health of the mouth directly relates to the overall health of the body. This led her to train to become a myofunctional therapist.
She opened up her myofunctional therapy practice, Faceology, in Seattle in 2010. She took the entire practice online in 2014, becoming the world’s first fully-online myofunctional therapy practice. One of her passions is to spread and create awareness about myofunctional therapy. So in addition to working with patients, she also runs MyoMentor, an educational institute that trains dentists, hygienists, and other health professionals to become myofunctional therapists. Sarah is from the Pacific Northwest and currently lives in Hawaii where she consults with patients, doctors, and other healthcare providers from all over the world.
