Natural Beauty Faves For March

Natural Beauty Faves For March

Natural beauty faves for March is in the house!  This month was just too good- I mean I literally had to stop myself from sharing too many products.  I didn’t want to overwhelm you!  Plus, I had to remind myself there will be another month. 🙂

As always some of these are tried and true faves and some of these are new faves.  Mostly this month it’s all new products!  There’s just been so many new releases or new products for me.  I couldn’t wait to share my faves with you.

I mean if you’re reading this you’re clearly a clean beauty junkie like me and if you’re not- watch yourself because I convert people everyday! 😉

Goop Exfoliating Instant Facial

Goop’s Exfoliating Instant Facial is an all star product!

Goop Exfoliating Instant Facial-

Um, where has this product been all my life?!  But for real.  I get sent products all the time and this was one of them.  I had it on my shelf for a couple months and finally used it.  Now I can’t believe I let it sit on the shelves for 2 months!  This is a revolutionary products.  It’s basically a little facial in a jar.  No joke.  Don’t want to spend the money on a facial- just get this.

I got mine from The Detox Market– your one stop shop for all things clean beauty.  If you haven’t shopped there, you may be missing out on some serious green beauty goodness.  Just sayin!  They carry all of the best when it comes to natural beauty.   Forever a Detox Market fan!

Ok, so let’s talk details when it comes about this product.  It contains BHA’s(beta hydroxy acids) and AHA(alpha hydroxy acids).  These acids help to slough off dead skin cells.  They help to unglue the bonds that hold your skin together.  You may not actually see physical signs of exfoliation but your skin will feel smoother and more even.  BHA’s and AHA’s help reduce fine lines, provide a firmer look, and diminish dull and uneven skin.  The formula also has plant based beads that help to exfoliate even more.  Plus, it contains Vitamin B5 which helps to soothe the skin.

I applied it at night a couple times a week.  I like to do it at night so my skin has a chance to calm down after.  Not that it gets super red, but acids definitely get blood flowing to your skin.  It’s nice to give your skin a chance to recuperate overnight.  If you do have sensitive skin be sure to do a small test area to see how your skin reacts.  You apply it over clean skin and leave it on for 3 minutes.  You don’t want to leave it on for any longer as it is highly active.  Also, about halfway through I start to rub the product in circular motions all over my skin.  This helps to really activate it.  Then rinse off once you hit 3 minutes.

Your skin will feel SO good!! I’m addicted!  I literally wake up and my skin feels so smooth and even.  Get it here and thank me!

Primally Pure Dry Shampoo

And the best clean beauty dry shampoo goes to Primally Pure!

Primally Pure Dry Shampoo-

I’ve literally been on the hunt for a good clean dry shampoo.  I’ve done a post several years ago but really need to update it.  When looking for a dry shampoo I want something that will give my hair lift, and volume and take away oiliness.  I also want it to be somewhat reasonable in price and available in brown and blonde.

Well, I found it!  I’m obsessed with Primally Pure’s Dry Shampoo.  I use the one for light hair, but I love that they have a dark option as well.  It really gives my hair body and bounce.  I sprinkle it on in the morning and then I brush it through.  I prefer using a teasing brush because it’s smaller and really helps to get the product spread evenly.  This is the one I use.  Plus, it smells fresh!  They use essential oils of grapefruit, lavender and peppermint.  If you’ve been searching for a good dry shampoo look no further!  Get your Primally Pure Dry Shampoo here!

Primally Pure Deodorant

LOVE Primally Pure’s Deodorant!

Primally Pure Deodorant-

Ok, I’m not sure how I hadn’t tried Primally Pure’s Deodorant until this year?  It’s SO good.  And spoiler alert I’m not the only one that thinks it.  My hubs is equally obsessed with it!  I tried the Blue Tansy and the Charcoal and they both deliver amazingly.

The Blue Tansy is great for those that battle inflammation on their underarms or irritation.  Blue Tansy is known for calming the skin and soothing it.  Plus, it smells amazing!  I’ve always been a big fan of the oil and when I say they had a deodorant dedicated to it, I knew I had to try it.  First off, I love the smell!  It keeps me smelling fresh all day.  It is so soothing and it doesn’t stain my clothes.  I haven’t had any redness or irritation from it at all.  Can’t recommend it enough!  I sweat people and this deodorant keeps me smelling  super fresh!  Get it here!

The Charcoal deodorant is equally as good.  I love the minty smell- so fresh!  Charcoal is naturally detoxifying and disinfecting.  My hubs can’t get enough of this one.  It keeps him smelling good all day and doesn’t stain his clothes.  I picked it initially after reading all the reviews on how many guys loved it!  I knew he had to try it.  If you’ve been searching for a deodorant for you or your hubs this may be it!  Get it here!

True Botanical's Muscle Review

True Botanical’s Aromatherapy Rollerball in Muscle Release helps ease muscle tension everywhere!

True Botanical’s Aromatherapy Rollerball in Muscle Release-

This rollerball has been at my beckon call lately!  I can’t stop using it.  It helps to relieve tension for stiff muscles, or tightness.  I’ve found lately I’ve had some extra tension and this has helped to ease it.  I apply before taking a warm shower.  The essential oils really help to target the muscles and release stiffness.  I always feel lighter after using it!  I keep it by my desk as well to use whenever I’m feeling tense.  They also have 2 other aromatherapy rollerballs Stress Release and Immune Boost.  I have them and love them too!  Just so nice to have a rollerball on hand to help with whatever alignment I’m going through.  Get them all here!

Innersense Whipped Cream Texturizer

Been using this product for 3 years and I’m not about to stop!

Innersense Inner Peace Whipped Creme Texturizer-

This stuff lives up to the hype.  I’ve been using it for 3 years and I can’t stop!  It comes in a round jar.  It looks like a thick lotion.  The texture is a little sticky, and has some good hold.  I put it in my hands and rub them together, and you can feel the texture it’s about to create just in your hands.  I loved putting this in my hair wet, and then using a diffuser to blow dry.  It would make my hair have this messy tousled look and then I would go through and wrap some pieces around a curling iron to bring some definition.

I also loved it for after curling my hair.  I would go through and scrunch up all over to bring some separation and texture to my curls.  This not only gave my hair hold, but that tousled look we all crave!  My sister also couldn’t stop singing this product’s praises. She loved it for the hold it gave her naturally wavy hair and the definition.  Since her hair is naturally wavy, it was all she needed to get her style rockin’-which is pretty amazing.  This works for any hair type, fine, thick, or curly.  If I had one styling product to pick from Innersense this would be it!  A must have product in any beauty maven’s hair arsenal!  Grab it here!

Live Botanical Review

This is one of Live Botanical’s newest creations and I can’t get enough!

Live Botanical Anoint Magnolia & Grapefruit Refining Body Oil-

Basically my new favorite body oil!  The smell is insanely good!  It has hints of magnolia but what I really get is the refreshing and sweet grapefruit.  The scent helps to relax the nervous system.  This is more than just your average body oil.  It contains fruit acids and herbal infusions that helps to exfoliate the skin and clear out clogged pores, also known as ingrown hairs.

That’s not all.  The herbal infusions help with lymphatic drainage while massaging and soothes inflammation.  Plus, it gives you the softest skin that literally glows!  There is a reason it’s called refining body oil- it literally helps to tone your skin.  I apply mine right after the shower.  My skin feels so soft and supple!  And it smells amazing.  You all need this!  Use code: GURLGONEGREEN for 20%!  Get it here!

Eco Tan Review

On the left is my pale white leg and then on the right is two applications of Eco Tan Invisible Tan.

Eco Tan Invisible Tan-

This comes in a tube and is a cream/lotion.  It can be used for face or body.  I just used it for both!  I make sure to exfoliate before application.  I would apply to dry skin.  I noticed it took about 6 hours or so for me to see a difference in color.  The color looks so realistic and natural.  Nothing fake looking.  It really blends so well too.  I noticed a difference after one application but after two I really looked like I had a good tan.

I really like their Face Tan Water too but I prefer that more for winter as it’s more subtle.  The Invisible Tan is great for spring and summer when I want to look like I have a tan.  I doesn’t look orange at all.  But a nice golden brown hue.  Plus, it doesn’t smell!  If you’ve been looking for a clean self tanner that works- this is it!  Get the Invisible Tan here!

organic bamboo washcloths

The organic bamboo washcloths are so soft!

Organic Bamboo Washcloths-

I’ve tried a lot of organic washcloths in my day and I really have landed on these.  I found them this last fall and can’t get enough.  I have a few criteria for organic washcloths.  One they have to be organic- duh.  I love bamboo too since it usually means extra softness. I also like for them to be a little thinner and not super thick like some washcloths.  I like them thinner for face, seems better for the face and not so rough.

I also don’t want them to be crazy expensive!  Well, I found my faves.  And get this- they’re from Amazon!  They’re not only super convenient to get but also SO affordable.  $14.99 for 6 washcloths!  They’re so soft, organic and made from bamboo.  I love that they come in grey too- hello product stains!  They check all the boxes and then some.  Get them here!

Beautycounter lip sheers

These lip sheers are the perfect lippy for spring and summer!

Beautycounter Lip Sheers-

I wasn’t sure what to expect when I tried these and was pleasantly surprised how much I liked them.  One of Beautycounter’s best sellers for good reason.  It feels like a really hydrating lip balm but not goopy or tacky.  Glides on your lips giving a hint of sheen and some color. The color pigment is more translucent and just a hint.  The perfect everyday lip color to throw on.

I can see myself wearing these a lot especially in the spring and summer.  These would be great for teenagers especially in my opinion.  Not as dramatic as a lipstick.  I love the colors Rose, Poppy and Petal!  But those are the only colors I have so I’m pretty sure I would love any of them.  Petal is the perfect nudist pink- I can’t stop wearing it!  See all the colors here!

Ok, so see any new faves?  What products are you loving for March?

Organic Beauty Foundation Guide

Organic Beauty Foundation Guide

My organic beauty foundation guide is officially complete…at least until I try another foundation that I like!  I’ve tried a ton of foundations since going green 7 years ago and I’ve narrowed it down to the products that performed.  After all you shouldn’t have to sacrifice a good foundation when transitioning to green beauty.

I really wanted to give you guys all the tools to make the best decision when choosing a foundation that’s why I created my organic beauty foundation guide.  I broke it down into easy to read categories, getting specific on skin type even.  Also, all the photos below are taken in the same light up until the W3ll People BB Cream.  After that I added new foundations and they are in a different light.  However, there is no filter on any of them.  The foundations are on the right side in the photo for the first half of the reviews, then for the second half of the reviews they’re on the left side.  If I’m wearing foundation on one side then I’m wearing nothing on the other side.  I wanted you guys to see the comparison. This is literally what the product looks like on my skin.  I really hope this organic beauty foundation guide helps you to find a foundation that works for your skin and that you love!

As always, if you have any questions, feel free to comment below, or email me- I would love to help you out!

*Also, I even created a free download for you guys on how to achieve flawless foundation application!  I’m sharing my 3 step process to ensure your foundation stays looking good from start to finish.  Plus, all the brushes I use for each foundation.  Download it below!

Gressa Minimalist Foundation in 3.5

Gressa Minimalist Corrective Serum Foundation-

Formula: This feels like a very thin paint, almost like a paint thinner- I know sounds strange but the best way to describe it.  It comes in a glass dropper bottle.

How it looks on: It looks very natural and dewy on.  It will feel like you aren’t wearing foundation at all.

Coverage: It offers light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: This is great for any skin type.  Although it is a liquid it dries more matte. So it’s good for oilier complexions or dry.

Why I like it: It creates such a natural flawless dewy look. You’ll feel like nothing is on your skin. It’s a lit from within glow. Plus, it offers a vitamin for your skin with all it’s nutrients.  Always shake it up as the product can separate naturally.  Get your Gressa Foundation here!

Ilia Vivid Foundation-

Why I like it: This goes on so smooth and is a great foundation to have around for everyday wear.  Your skin will look polished and not cakey. Wearing Inika BB Cream

Inika BB Cream-

Formula: A very creamy consistency in a pump bottle.

How it looks on: It gives a dewy, natural look to the skin.

Coverage: light

Skin Type: This is great for dry to combination skin types that don’t want a lot of coverage.

Why I like it: Although the formula is too light for me(I like at least a medium coverage foundation) I really like the consistency and the feel of the product.  It doesn’t feel like you’re wearing anything and the ingredients are great.  If you do like more of a medium to full coverage look you could always spot conceal where you don’t get enough coverage or you could try mixing your concealer with the bb cream.  Get your BB Cream here!

Wearing W3ll People Bio Tint BB Cream

W3ll People BB Cream-

Formula: Feels creamy and thicker.

How it looks on: Looks natural and dewy.

Coverage: Light to medium.

Skin Type: All skin types.

Why I like it: This is a newer product within the last year for W3ll People.  I like that it offers SPF30, some great protection, yet it doesn’t feel too heavy.  Great for summer, but also if you live somewhere that’s constantly sunny and want sun protection in your foundation on the daily.  I really appreciate that it is a little thicker and offers some decent coverage too.  Get your BB Cream here!

Wearing Ilia True Skin Serum Organic Foundation in SF3 on the left and nothing on the right.

Ilia True Skin Serum Foundation-

Formula: Feels creamy and comes in a pump bottle.

How it looks on: Looks velvety and like your skin- very natural.

Coverage: Light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: All Skin Types.

Why I like it:  I actually prefer this over Ilia’s Vivid Founation because it doesn’t feel greasy to me and the longevity is great.  It is a liquid but then it sets after a while and you get a great long wearing foundation.  It really feels and acts like your skin, yet I still feel like it gives my skin great coverage. This is definitely one of my favorites in my organic beauty foundation guide. Get the Ilia True Skin Serum here!

Best Organic foundation reviews Inika liquid

Why I like it: The formula is so hydrating with hyaluronic acid. How it looks on: Looks so natural and healthy.  Does settle into some of my fine lines after a while.

Coverage: Offers light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: All Skin Types.

Why I like it:  This formula is so good.  I’ve only been testing it for a week and debated whether or not to put it in the post but honestly even after a week of using it I love it!  My skin looks so natural.  It acts like your skin but covers up the redness, and imperfections- creating a smooth even canvas.  The one thing I did notice was it settled into my fine lines.  What I’m excited to see is how my skin improves from wearing it.  It’s really a skin serum and foundation in one.  Filled with skin healthy ingredients like vitamin C, seaweed brighteners, and beta carotene.  It’s no surprise if your skin starts to look better after using it! Get your Vita-Active Foundation here!

Best organic natural foundation reviews

Wearing Kosas Tinted Face Oil on the left in 03 and 05-mixed together and nothing on the right.

Kosas Tinted Face Oil-

Formula: An oily paint thinner like feel more liquid feel then creamy- I know so weird but that’s an accurate description. 😉

How it looks on: Looks so natural and dewy.  Very hydrated look.

Coverage: Light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: Normal to dry.

Why I like it: This is a new find for me and I’ve been loving how dewy it makes my skin feel.  I thought I wouldn’t like it because I didn’t think it would offer enough coverage for me, but it actually gives a good amount of coverage.  It makes my skin glow.  I’v gotten so many compliments since wearing it!  People always say my skin is glowing.  I’ll take it!  This definitely is a new fave and had to be put in my organic beauty foundation guide.  Get it here!

Best organic natural green beauty foundation reviews

Wearing Clove and Hollow Pressed Mineral Foundation in 04 on the left and nothing on the right.

Clove and Hollow Pressed Mineral Foundation-

Formula: A pressed powdered mineral foundation, very finely milled.

How it looks on: It looks so natural and soft. A light matte finish.

Coverage: It provides light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: Normal to oily.

Why I like it: It’s been hard to find a pressed powered foundation in green beauty.  This one is nice because it is pressed but still feels light and airy on the skin.  Also great to wear over liquid foundation to help set it. I love applying this to my oily eyelids too to help set them! Get it here!

Best organic and natural foundation reviews in green beauty

Wearing Alima Pure Satin Matte Foundation Powder in Neutral 2 on the left and nothing on the right.

Alima Pure Loose Mineral Powder Foundation-

Formula:  A loose mineral powdered foundation- super fine powder.

How it looks on:  This powder looks so lovely on.  Very natural and velvety even though it’s a powder.

Coverage: Provides light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: Normal to oily.

Why I like it: Even though this is a loose powder foundation, it still doesn’t get messy.  I just tap the powder into the cap and swirl the brush around and then apply the foundation. Doesn’t feel cakey or heavy for a foundation but light. The fish is flawless.  For a powdered foundation this one is pretty great!  Get it here!

Best organic and natural foundation reviews

Wearing Inika Organic Pressed Baked Mineral Foundation in Patience on my left side and nothing on my right.

Inika Pressed Mineral Foundation-

Formula: A pressed mineral powdered foundation.

How it looks on:  This powder looks so natural.  Very lightweight, gives more of a matte finish.

Coverage: Provides light to medium coverage.

Skin Type: Normal to oily.

Why I like it: This is another pressed mineral powdered foundation that’s come on the scene. It’s feels feathery light and is a great powder to apply over liquid foundations.  The coverage is lighter than Inika’s loose mineral foundation.  A very soft look overall. Get it here!

Clove and Hallow Foundation

Wearing Clove and Hallow Liquid Skin Tint in 04 on the left side of my face(as you’re looking at the photo).

Clove and Hallow Liquid Skin Tint-

Formula: It’s a liquid foundation- comes in a tube.

How it looks on:  It is a matte foundation and does dry matte but it doesn’t look too dry or stark.  I think since it’s a liquid it still doesn’t look as matte as a powder.

Coverage: It gives a medium coverage.

Skin Type: Normal to oily.  This one is especially great for those with normal skin who want a more matte finish when humidity rises in the summer months.

Why I like it:  It’s nice to be able to have a matte finish with a liquid and not a powder.  It doesn’t feel heavy on or like my skin is cracking because it’s drying.  If you do have dry skin though I wouldn’t recommend it.  Get it here!

Suntegrity 5-1-Natural Moisturizing Tinted Face

Wearing Suntegrity on the left side of my face(when looking at me).

Suntegrity 5-in-1 Natural Moisturizing Face Sunscreen-

Formula:  This is a tinted moisturizer/bb cream.  So it has SPF in it and it also acts like a foundation.  It has SPF 30 and comes in a liquid.

How it looks on: It’s very dewy looking and looks really natural.  It’s not heavy at all.

Coverage: Provides light to slightly medium coverage.  More on the light side.  More coverage than I’ve experienced with previous tinted moisturizers.

Skin Type:  This is best for dry to normal skin types.  If you do have oily or acne prone skin I would do a patch test since this can be slightly irritating for some people with more oily skin types.

Why I like it:  It goes on smooth and feels creamy.  Gives my skin some good coverage but also has the added SPF which I love.  It gives me more coverage than a lot of tinted moisturizers, which is a big plus for me.  I love that it also hydrates the skin.  A great summer foundation or throughout the year if you like a more natural approach and prefer sunscreen in your foundation.  Get it here!

That sums up my organic beauty foundation guide.  See anything you want to try?  What’s your go to green beauty foundation?

True Botanicals Review

True Botanicals Review

My updated True Botanical’s Review is here.  A lot has changed for this luxe line, since I last reviewed it.  From product changes, name changes and new products-a lot’s been going on for TB!  I couldn’t be more excited for all the newness!

When I think of TB what sticks out to me is a luxe anti-aging line.  Using the most potent ingredients, TB spares no expense when it comes to creating their products.  They care about quality and seeing products that actually perform, while at the same time are safe.  A truly unique company in the green beauty industry.  The scents of their products are some of the best.  Nothing is too strong but smells fresh and real.  I also love how they do clinical tests on their products.  Something that is rare among the natural skincare industry.  Proven results, with clean ingredients-what more could you want?  Oh and I can’t forget to mention that all their products come in frosted glass bottles, can you say luxurious?  Not only do they make skincare products but also some stellar body products.  I tried out the shampoo and conditioner, body wash and lotion and they’re all winners!

TB is also one of the first companies to become Made Safe Certified.  A new certification done by third party testing that ensures toxins stay out of products.

Another exciting piece of news from TB headquarters is their Clear Collection just passed clinical trials against Proactiv+. Making it the go to skincare line for acne.  Most lines dry out your skin in hopes of combatting acne.  But with TB’s Clear Collection it actually kills bacteria that could be causing flare ups and breakouts.  The products create balance in your skin, unlike most acne treatment lines.  Say hello to your new favorite acne skincare line that delivers.  Check out the full clinical trial results here!  As they say the proof is in the pudding!

TB was started by Hillary Peterson.  She was a long time lover of luxury skincare.  However, she realized the price she was paying for luxury skincare also cost her toxic ingredients.  Having been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, she knew a change needed to be made.  After 8 years of research with chemists, studying botanicals and talking with sustainability experts, she created True Botanicals. Her goal was to make skincare products that were not only effective but clean.  Well she did it and since then has won some awards…

True Botanicals’ rule-breaking approach to luxury skin care and ability to bring together superior results and safety has earned it ELLE magazine’s coveted Genius award and placement at several of the world’s top spas.

If you’re unsure of what line to commit to in TB, then take their online quiz here.  They’ve made it easy to help you decide what line suits your skin best.  Skincare doesn’t have to be complicated.  If it’s one thing I’ve learned from using TB products it’s that skincare needs two things to be great, clean and effective.  TB offers both.

Ok, so want to know what I thought about TB’s new products and line in general?  Well then sit back and take notes-it’s about to get good!

They also have a pregnancy collection.  So you don’t need to think twice about what skincare line to use when pregnant. I mean what more could you want?  A clean and effective skincare line when you’re pregnant?  Sign me up!

*A little disclaimer- my skin type is normal to dry so I use the RENEW line by TB.  They have 4 different lines depending on your skin type.  RENEW is for Normal skin. CLEAR is for acne-prone, CALM is for rosacea -prone skin and Pregnancy is for well you guessed it- when you’re pregnant.   As I said earlier, take the quiz to see what products would best suit your skin.

True Botanicals Review

The best products to keep that youthful glow in natural beauty, the Antioxidant Booster and Cellular Repair Serum.

Pre Cleanse Oil-

This is the first step in the cleansing routine. You apply it to dry skin and rub in circular motions all over to help loosen dirt and makeup.  Then I take a warm washcloth and use it to wipe off all the residue.  Skin feels clean and isn’t stripped.  A win/win!  It’s nice in my opinion to have a double cleanse process!  It really helps to get your skin clean.  The first cleanse really gets your skin clean and the second cleanse restores your skin. Grab your bottle here!

RENEW Nourishing Cleanser-

This cleanser is milky in consistency.  I apply it to damp skin and rub it all over in circular motions, even over my eye makeup.  I double cleanse with this cleanser or use a balm before it and then use the Hydrating Cleanser second.  It leaves your skin so smooth and not dry at all.  Your skin feels balanced all over.  So many cleansers blast your face and your skin is literally crying out for moisture-not the case with this cleanser.  I love the mild earthy smell of jasmine and grapefruit.  If you’ve been searching for a cleanser that balances your skin and removes all the junk this is your gem!  Grab your bottle here!

RENEW Nutrient Mist-

This mist…I literally love the smell!  It never gets old.  Fresh smelling, not overly powerful.  With jasmine, tuberose, and neroli, the whole combination just works!  TB is serious about delivering even when it comes to it’s mists.  This mist is packed with active ingredients like kombucha that detoxifies skin and balances ph.  Plus, algae extract with it’s high omega 3’s and 6’s that protect skin from moisture loss, fix cellular damage and fill with fluid.  Oh and did I mention the base isn’t made up of water but of Green Tea and White Tea?  Yeah, they’re pretty much all stars when it comes to skin.  Not only are they skin soothing, antioxidants and anti-inflammatory, they’re also anti-aging ingredients-hello!  Yeah, you could say this mist is jam packed with some serious goodness.  Get your mist here!

These products give you back that youthful glow- The Vitamin C Booster and Cellular Repair Serum.

RENEW Repair Serum-

This serum-another good one.  I mean am I sounding like a broken record yet?  This serum is designed to reverse the cellular damage caused by sun exposure and aging.  Pretty sure everyone wants to sign up for that-am I right?!  Besides reversing cellular damage it also replenishes moisture and plumps up skin.  It’s highly concentrated and goes past the surface of the skin to really get to the cellular level.  Most serums sit at the top of the skin-not TB’s.  Another thing I love about this serum is it’s ability to calm redness and ease congestion.  My skin looks clearer over all and more even toned.  I apply it after toning/misting my skin.  Since it’s a serum my skin doesn’t feel moisturized but slightly dewy.  This is a serum that is going to work for your skin everyday.  An anti-aging, redness reducing serum all rolled into one.  Invest in your skin and grab your’s here!

Antioxidant Booster-

I talk a lot about this beauty on my Instagram- if you don’t follow, what are you waiting for?  To say I’m obsessed would be an understatement.  This booster is all around the star when it comes to keeping my skin looking youthful- no joke.  Allow me to share some wisdom on why this works so well.

Free radicals are constantly at work in our skin causing damage.  They are caused by the foods we eat, stress, the sun, air we breathe and so on.  They can cause skin conditions like acne, rosacea and of course aging.  The thing that we need to give our skin to fight free radicals are antioxidants.  Antioxidants counteract free radical damage and help to repair and restore the skin. Our skin produces antioxidants on their own, but as we age we lose antioxidants.  That’s why it’s important to keep feeding our skin antioxidants as we age.

The Antioxidant Booster does just that!  It gives your skin the most potent form of antioxidants the minute it touches your skin because you don’t activate it until right before you use it.  Since it’s in powder form, it hasn’t lost it’s potency because it’s not been mixed with liquid. The minute you mix it with a liquid you activate the formula.  Imagine all those serums you’ve been buying that have promised to be filled with antioxidants but they’ve basically been deactivated since they’ve been sitting in liquid. This gives you the freshest antioxidants delivered right to your skin!

Plus, the Antioxidant Booster is made using whole apple peel which has been shown to be more effective than Vitamin C- hello!  It’s basically like your skin’s best friend if you ask me.  I mix this with the Repair Serum(you could use the Clear Serum from True Botanical’s, The Calm- whatever line that matches up to your skincare needs).  Then I apply it my skin.  I apply this before my oils.  I find this helps my skin to absorb the oil better. Then I apply my oils.  I can’t recommend this product enough!  I like the Vitamin C Booster too, but this one has done amazing things for my skin.

I’ve seen hyperpigmentation fade, sun spots and an overall brightness and evenness to my skin.  People ask me all the time how I apply it.  I don’t follow True Botanicals recommendation of applying my oils first and then applying my Antioxidant booster and cellular repair serum.  They recommend you start with their oil, then mix the Antioxidant Booster or Vitamin C Booster with one of their serums and apply to the skin.  This isn’t how I was traditionally taught in esthetic school.  However, True Botanical’s Oils are different then most oils.  Here is an explanation they sent me:

We use oils that are specifically formulated to have smaller particle size and therefore be more easily absorbed into the skin, the oil doesn’t sit on top of the skin and create a barrier that the serum would be unable to penetrate

So if you want to apply your oil first and then Antioxidant Booster or Vitamin C Booster and serum do it.  If you want to do it the other way- you can do it that too.  They did inform me that the Vitamin C Booster is only water-soluble (not oil-soluble), so if you apply it first and then add the oil, it can sometimes create a bit of a pilling effect if the Vitamin C/Serum mixture hasn’t fully absorbed yet. The Antioxidant Booster is both water and oil soluble, so it’s easier to switch around the order of the products when you’re using that one!  Bottom line- It’s my skincare must have!  Get it here!

Vitamin C Booster-

This vitamin c treatment is preserved in it’s freshest form.  Vitamin C is a powerful antioxidant that helps to even skin tone, brighten and fade wrinkles, stimulate collagen, plus firm and repair skin.  I mean every face needs this stuff.  You might be wondering why it comes in a powder form.  When vitamin c is mixed with a liquid it slowly loses potency.  By keeping it in powder form you can be assured it’s in it’s freshest form.  Combine 1 to 2 shakes of the Vitamin C Booster with one of TB’s serums and mix until dissolved.  Then apply to skin and let seep in.    Grab your Vitamin C Booster here!

RENEW Pure Radiance Oil-

Where do I start with this oil?  Gahh…I really love it.  It’s their number 1 product and for good reason.  It seeps right into your skin, leaves behind no greasy residue, and makes your skin feel hydrated throughout the day and night.  Besides being highly hydrating it also helps smooth wrinkles, shrink large pores and fight free radical damage.  I love the scent as well.  Not heavy at all, but with notes of frankincense, neroli, rose and jasmine.  Many people wonder what makes this oil so special, here’s a blurb from TB on their website that explains it so well-

When therapeutic oils are applied to the skin without the interference of waxes, they can be absorbed directly into the top layers of the epidermis, where they instantly go to work to improve lipid barrier function. By replenishing the oils you’ve lost due to natural attrition and exposure, you enable your skin to properly do its job: hold moisture in and keep the elements, like sun and wind, out.

So many people are afraid of oils who suffer from acne.  Oils are actually necessary and help create balance in the skin.  This oil, as with all of TB’s products is also available in the CLEAR Line and CALM Line.  Grab your bottle here and thank me later!

Resurfacing Moisture Mask-

This mask does exactly what it says- it moisturizes and exfoliates.  It’s a gel consistency.  It gets rid of all the dead skin and reveals that inner glow(aka new skin). I leave mine on for 5 minutes.  It’s especially great right before a big event or night out when you want your skin to be glowing.  It also gives you an even smooth canvas for flawless makeup application.  You won’t be disappointed with this mask-Get yours here!

Moisture Lock Overnight Mask-

This is the newest product from True Btoanicals.  This mask really offers some serious hydration.  You cleanse your skin and apply your products as you would normally and then you apply the mask.  Instead of rinsing it off you sleep in it!  When you wake up your skin is silky smooth and moisturized.  Like a big gulp of water for your skin.  I put down a hand towel on my pillow so the product didn’t get on my pillow case.  But it really does soak in to the skin so well you hardly notice anything.  I can’t think of a better product for your skin in the dry winter months!  It literally nourishes the skin so well.  I notices minimized redness too.  Get your Moisture Lock Mask here! The Overnight Moisture Mask gives your skin it’s hydration back!

Deep Repair Eye Serum-

I’ve been using this eye serum since they first introduced it last spring and I’ve been hooked.  It is so concentrated and rich.  A little goes a long way.  It literally lasts forever since you need such little product.  I just dab a drop around my eye area with my ring finger(least amount of muscles).  My eye area is hydrated and puffiness is minimized.  My eyes look rested and brightened.  Again, TB takes it to the next level with their eye serum.  Unlike most eye serums that sit on the surface, TB’s actually goes deep into the skin to repair skin at the cellular level.  You can say goodbye to crows feet!  Get your Eye Serum here!

If you’re looking for a clean beauty shampoo and conditioner that performs- look no further than True Botanicals Shampoo and Conditioner.

Nourishing Shampoo and Conditioner-

If you’ve thought that no natural shampoo and conditioner will work for your hair, think again.  The shampoo suds up like a mainstream shampoo, but without the harsh chemicals.  The conditioner doesn’t leave that greasy oil residue…you know that feeling I’m talking about!  Need, I say more?  Not really, but I will because I just can’t help myself!  It smells insanely good, fresh like everything they make does.  They also come in recyclable metal bottle pumps, that literally look so luxe in the shower.  I promise you won’t be disappointed, this stuff is amazing and worth every penny, and that says a lot coming from a stylist.  Get your shampoo and conditioner here!

Nourishing Body Oil-

I’m obsessed with this body oil!  It literally is so luxurious.  It smells like sandalwood, cedarwood and orange.  I love how it comes in a pump form- easy application.  It is filled with so many antioxidants and fatty acids that make this a power packed oil, while at the same time a very nourishing and hydrating oil.  But get this- it doesn’t feel greasy, not at all!  It glides on your skin effortlessly but doesn’t leave that slimy feeling.  Once you try it, you’ll be hooked!  Grab it here!

True Botanicals Review

Take your skin to the next level with True Botanical’s Resurfacing Body Mask and Pure Body Oil.

Nourishing Body Mask-

This was a different product I hadn’t tried all together but couldn’t wait to dive in and see what all the fuss was about. This is literally a skin’s dream product!  It uses lactic acid to gently exfoliate the skin and remove the rough and dry patches. You are left with skin that is smooth, soft and overall lovely!  I apply this to dry skin all over my body and then wait for 15 minutes before I rinse off in the shower.  I’m literally left with skin that is silky!  Plus, it’s a good excuse to grab that book you’ve been wanting to read while you wait for this mask to do it’s magic.  Get it here!

Aromatherapy Oils-

These came out not too long ago and I love applying them for instant stress relief, mood boost and muscle tension relief.  They come in 3 different types.

  • Stress Relief- This rollerball includes oils of tarragon, frankincense, and sandalwood. It is calming and helps to ease anxiety.  You roll it on your temples, wrists and chests.  You can even just cup your hands and breathe in the aroma.  This is nice to have at your desk, purse, bathroom- really anywhere!
  • Muscle Relief- Got sore muscles?  Then grab this rollerball.  It takes your fatigued muscles and soothes them instantly.  I rub it on wherever I have sore muscles and it instantly takes the tension away. It has essential oils of roman chamomile, clary sage, and orange peel.  You could even apply before a shower or bath for added benefits.
  • Immune Support- This is perfect for the winter months when you want to boost your immunity.  It has essential oils ofavintsara, bay laurel, and balsam fir. These oils are antibacterial, and antiviral.  Apply this on your chest, lymph, and throat.  The aromatherapy really helps to support the immune system naturally.

Phew, ok bottom line from the review-this line is here to stay and seriously performs. If you want clean skincare, that produces results, then True Botanicals is your ticket!

7 Health Habits For 2019

7 Health Habits For 2019

I’m so excited to share 7 Health Habits For 2019 with you!  I really wanted to share a post that would both inspire you in your health journey and cause you to want to go to the next level in 2019.  It’s easy to make a list of health goals and end up with 20, but I wanted this to be practical and doable.  I chose 7 after thinking about.  After all, that’s one for each day of the week.

Clean Living Natural

Join the 5 Day Clean Living Challenge and start living your best natural life!

I’ve been on this health journey for a while and I’ve read many books, listened to many podcasts and have a pretty decent grasp on what is true health and what’s a fad.  Fads don’t last but real health does.  Plus, we don’t want fads anyways, we want to create long lasting habits that will truly last the rest of your life.  Health is a journey- I say it a lot.  It’s not a destination.  If you’re looking for a one hit wonder, this post isn’t for you.  There isn’t a magic formula for achieving optimal health, it’s consistency and small steps each and everyday.  They all add up.

As my brother, Dr. Matt, a naturopathic physician says, “Accumulate health.”

I couldn’t agree more.  Everyday you want to accumulate more and more health.  It isn’t the one month where you do “all” the healthy things but the everyday habits that make the difference.  I’ve literally been on a journey to heal my hashimoto’s for a while.  This hasn’t been something that’s happened over night.  It’s taken consistent health habits to get better. But guess what?  It works!  My antibodies have gone down, my energy has gone up and I’m feeling good.  All those little things add up.  Let’s check in with our habits and see where they’re at.  How do you start your day?  What does breakfast look like? Are you always on the go?  Not taking time for yourself?  Think about your life and the habits that you’ve adopted.  Are they serving you or hurting you?

I think it’s important to have some goals when it comes to creating healthy habits.  A couple books I love that talk about forming habits and creating them are:

Some podcasts that I love listening too when it comes to habits and Mindset are:

I think it’s important to always be growing and causing yourself to think bigger.  You can adopt new habits and change your old ones.  It is possible!  Sometimes we just need to be reminded.

So here are the 7 health habits that have changed my life and I know will change your life if you let them!

  • Change Your Mindset-

I actually adopted a word for this year and it’s mindset.  I’ve never done this before but I’ve realized how important mindset is when changing your habits over the years and I want to focus on it even more this year.  If I literally don’t change the way I think no habit is going to stick.  I may change temporarily but it won’t be lasting change.  The past couple years I’ve realized the areas I’ve changed in are because of mindset shifts and changes I’ve had.  Not because I was super motivated because we all know that can fade, but because I had changed my thinking about it.  I literally don’t have dairy or gluten, and I don’t think about it.  I know it can cause my hashimoto’s to flair up, so I just don’t do it.  It’s just not even a question in my mind.  I just don’t make it an option.  If I let my mindset be that maybe I’ll have dairy or gluten sometimes then I might.  But I just don’t go there.  The same thing could be true for anything in your life.  Whether it’s business, family, whatever.  This applies to anything, but obviously we’re focusing on health.  Do you think you can never lose the weight?  Do you think you’ll always struggle eating clean?  What’s your limiting belief you’re accepting as truth?

  • Change Your Company-

Who you associate yourself with is a pretty big deal.  I know we’ve all heard it.  Who you surround yourself with is who you become.  When you surround yourself with people that cause you to go higher, than you fall in line with that.  Imagine if your best friend was constantly working out, being active and asking you to come.  Don’t you think that would rub off on you?  Eventually you would probably go workout and start being more active.  The opposite is also true. If you hang around people that just want to sit around and watch t.v. all day, eat junk food and don’t care about health, you’ll likely start adopting those same habits. I’m not saying ditch all your friends but consider what you want to change in your life when it comes to healthy habits and if your friends are supporting those goals.  Maybe it will just take you standing up saying you’re going to start eating clean and they would follow suit.  Sometimes someone just needs to be the first one that stands up.  The same could be true for your spouse.  Maybe you wished they were stronger for you when it came to living out a clean lifestyle but maybe it will have to start with you making the first step.  Be the person that you want them to be and eventually it will rub off on them.

  • Make Real Food-

I know sounds life chaining huh? Ok, it might seem obvious but this has changed my life.  Making real homemade food and avoiding the packaged food.  I honestly rarely eat out.  I don’t live somewhere where there are a lot of great options.  Sometimes I wish I could grab something quick, but quick around me is the nearest fast food joint and that’s not an option.  Regardless I do think making real food is a game changer for your health.  You’ll eat less, eat more nutrient dense food and save money!  Basically setting yourself up for success.  You’re literally going to be reprogramming your cells to work for you instead of against you.  I never knew how to cook until after I got married.  Trust me, when I say this- I didn’t even know how to cook chicken.  I’ve come a long way.  My hubs jokes now that he’s glad I learned how to cook because I would only make two things when we got married. 🙂  So if you don’t know how to cook, you can learn because I’m living proof!  Plus, real food doesn’t have to be overwhelming or intimidating.  It actually is really simple and fun once you learn a few tips and tricks.  Get a clean eating cookbook like this one or this one to get you started.  Sometimes it just takes a little inspiration or follow a real food blogger to keep you going.

  • Be Active-

I don’t like using the word exercise or working out because I think people associate those with negative connotations.  Having an active lifestyle is something everyone should practice.  Whether that means going on a hike, going for a walk, doing crossfit, lifting weights, whatever gets your body moving.  I know for me its looked different in every season of life.  When I was single it was different, as I got married it changed and now that I have kids it looks different.  I used to beat myself up when I couldn’t spend the normal time I used to spend when I was just married working out.  But I realized consistent activity even if it wasn’t 6 days a week was better than none.  Just being consistent with something makes the biggest difference.  It all goes back to the accumulating health quote that my brother always says.  It’s the little things that add up.  Do something that you love!  I hear so many people trying to go to the gym and run on the treadmill and they hate it.  Don’t do it!  Find something that is fun, that challenges you and keeps you wanting more.  It might take a couple different times, but don’t force yourself to do things that you know you won’t stick with in the long run.  Being active gives you more energy, improves your overall mood and mind, increases strength and endurance- the list could go on and on.

  • Manage Your Stress-

Notice I didn’t say eliminate stress, because let’s face it, that’s impossible.  We live in a fast paced world that isn’t slowing down anytime soon.  The best thing you can do is to learn how to manage your stress.  For me this has come by identifying the stressor and getting to the root of it.  Is it really the activity I’m doing or is the fact that I booked my calendar up too much and I don’t have anytime to decompress?  Think about why you’re really feeling on edge.  Figure out what drains you and what gives you energy.  I’m a people person but not an every day let’s have a party type of people person.  That would drain me.  The biggest advice I can give when it comes to managing stress is learning to say no.  It might mean limiting your kid’s after school activities to one sport.  It might mean not saying yes to every social event, or allowing time to meal prep for the week.  Think about what is causing you to feel stressed and address the triggers.

  • Fill Up Your Cup-

I know the word self care gets thrown around a lot these days.  I think a lot of us are saying it, but not a lot of us are practicing it.  When was the last time you actually took an hour or two to yourself and totally did something you loved.  Maybe it’s reading a good book, or maybe it’s just watching an hour of your favorite show.  It could be getting your nails done once a week or flipping through the latest magazine.  Figure out what fills you up and do it.  Don’t take a budbble bath if you hate it!  Just because someone else likes it doesn’t mean you will.  Find what relaxes you.  The goal is to do whatever helps you forget about everything else for a little bit and fills up your tank.  When I practice this I feel so much better!  For my husband it’s working out.  If I let him  workout for an hour he will come back refreshed and energized- haha sometimes a different person.

  • Challenge Yourself-

This one may sound weird but it’s so true.  I find the people I’m constantly coming in contact with our challenging themselves.  Whether it’s their mind, their food habits, exercise, at work- they’re wanting to improve and be a better version of themselves.  This isn’t a type of rat race thinking that makes you think you always have to be doing something.  It’s not for the approval of others but a sense of trying something new.  For instance, maybe the fear of getting in shape has kept you from signing up for a 5k or the gym.  Challenge yourself to sign up and take the step to face your fears.  I bet before long you will wonder why you even had them in the first place.  When you challenge yourself I think it helps to keep your mind sharp too.  It doesn’t matter what your age is, challenge yourself in something and watch how you surprise yourself.

Do any of these 7 health goals resonate with you?  What if you adopted one of these habits each month for the next 7 months, where would your life be?  How would it look differently?  What are some health habits you’ve adopted?

Here’s to building healthy habits in the new year!
