Beauty Heroes October Discovery: LILFOX

Beauty Heroes October Discovery: LILFOX

It’s time for Beauty Heroes October Discovery: LILFOX!  I was excited when I saw the black glass bottles from LILFOX in this month’s box.  In this box we are seeing the famed Prickly Pear Illuminating Tourmaline Infused Beauty Nectar and The Kalahari Eye Serum.  These two couldn’t have come at a better time with the cooler temps from Fall!  If you haven’t heard of Beauty Heroes Subscription box- then keep reading to hear why it’s the “IT” green beauty box.

Beauty Heroes was founded by Jeannie Jarnot.  A longtime spa director herself and healthy beauty expert.  I had the pleasure of meeting Jeannie last year at IBE, and she is truly one of the sweetest people.  Beauty Heroes is a monthly beauty service that selects only the best clean beauty brands.  Each month you can find one to two full size truly heroic products in each box.  The products typically range from skincare to haircare products.  However, every 3 months Beauty Heroes offers a makeup box as well that’s optional for members or non-members.  I absolutely love their “Use Less, Love More” philosophy.  By only getting one or two products, you allow yourself to truly experience them.  Of course you can trust their picks, as they are strict on their integrity standards.  What’s not to love about this whole concept?  As a Beauty Heroes Ambassador, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of such a movement.

Ok, on to the review…

Beauty Heroes LILFOX Prickly Pear Serum Review

Beauty Heroes October Discovery LILFOX Prickly Pear Serum Review

Prickly Pear Illuminating Tourmaline Infused Beauty Nectar-

This oil is seriously wonderful.  If you’ve followed me long enough, you know I have a thing for prickly pear seed oil.  It’s a power house oil known for it’s anti-aging properties, hydrating benefits and brightening effects-really there’s not much it doesn’t do.  Well, this beauty nectar not only contains prickly pear but a host of other amazing oils.  I love the smell-a mix of frankincense, and bergamot is what I pick up.  I apply it after I spritz my face with a toning mist.  It melts into my skin and leaves it feeling perfectly hydrated.  The best part?  Waking up to skin that feels moisturized, even and balanced.  I love this little creation!  If you’ve been looking for a good serum/oil-this is your baby.

The Kalahari Eye Serum-

Love that this eye serum comes in a rollerball form.  Such easy application!  This eye serum is a mix argan oil, prickly pear, watermelon and passion fruit. The vitamins A and K really help to brighten the eye area.  Something pretty much anyone can use! I know I can as a mama of two.  There is also peridot gem inside the formula which has been known to help the skin and heart take in all the plant has to offer them.  I’ve been rolling this on in the morning and at night.  I love how it feels cooling from the rollerball and hydrating but not greasy.  It quickly soaks in!

April Beauty Heroes Discovery: LILFOX

April Beauty Heroes Discovery: LILFOX

Another month, another Beauty Heroes box for the win!  I get so excited to see what’s hiding in the box every time it comes.  It’s like Christmas every month!  This month we had the honor of trying out LILFOX.  LILFOX was created by founder, Alexis Rose.  A native southern Floridian, she is a certified aromatherapist, and essential oil educator.  Each product has a blend of organic wildcrafted essential oils and isn’t watered down.  The products are aimed to deliver a glow, and to help you find your own unique skincare ritual.  I love that each product is crafted in their studio and not outsourced.  I also swooned over their luxe packaging when I saw it.  Their products are packaged in amethyst glass to help preserve the contents, and protect the biodiversity of the formula.  Who doesn’t love that?  This month the hero product is their Jungle Glow Rainforest Honey Enzyme Cleanser + Mask.  The sidekick is the Cleopatra Milk and Honey Mask.  These two masks offer a one-two punch for getting smooth, glowing skin. Before I delve into all the details, let me first introduce you to Beauty Heroes if you’re new.

I’ll say it again and again, if you haven’t signed up for Beauty Heroes then get on it!  This luxe green beauty box is where it’s at!

Before I get into the full review I wanted to also mention Alexis the founder mixes all her formulas in micro batches to ensure the consistency is just right.  I did have a couple questions about the ingredients-namely the several listed towards the end of the Jungle Glow Mask.  Here are the ingredients in the Jungle Glow Mask-

Ingredients:

Mel (Raw Rainforest Honey)**

P.incarnata (Maracuja) Oil

Amazonian White Clay

R.canina (Rosehip Seed) Oil* + Seeds

T.cacao (Raw Cacoa)*

Tocopherols (Vit.E/non-gmo)

Essential Oil Blend Including:

C.paradisi (Pink Grapefruit) Oil*

C.aurantium var. amara (Neroli + Petitgrain* + Bitter Orange*) Oil

V.planifolia (Vanilla) Co2 Extract

(d-Limonene, Linaloo, Citral, Geraniol, Benzyl Alcochol, Benzyl Salicylate, Benzyl Benzoate, Farnesol, Ugenol, Iso Eugenol***) ***Components Naturally Occurring in Essential Oils in Trace Amounts

The last ingredient listing starting with d-Limonene and going through the end of the list I questioned.  In my experience, these can be synthetic isolates.  However, Alexis the founder, a certified aromatherapist shared with me some enlightening information:

These constituents listed at the end of the label are naturally occurring in the essential oils in trace amounts are not synthetic additives.

In the EU, they require you to list all potential allergens (26 possible) that are naturally occurring within the plant essential oils. If you would take out these components and add them to the formula singularly and or synthetically isolated, then you could be adding a harmful skin-sensitizing ingredient.

I am a certified aromatherapist and formulate with only 1% or less on our facial care products including the jungle glow cleanser and mask. Essential oils can contain 100’s of naturally occurring plant components that if you were to singularly take out (which they do in commercial perfumes and clinical skincare formulas) then you would be looking at amounts that can be potential skin irritants.

Jungle Glow-

The Jungle Glow is unlike any mask I’ve every used.  Upon opening it, I’m greeted with scents of orange, bergamot and ylang ylang.  The consistency is like a decadent thick jam mixed with some really luxe honey.  The ingredient sourcing is superb.  Alexis sources the honey from a specific beekeeper in Hawaii from a rainforest.  Along with the honey, cacao, and rosehip seed powder get mixed into this elaborate mask too.  The mask not only acts as an exfoliant but also as a true facial mask restoring your glow back.  I first applied it as an exfoliant, getting all the dead skin off.  Then I added a little more product and left it on for 30 minutes as a mask.  This product does both so well-a real two for one.  After removing the mask my skin felt smooth, and calm.  Redness was minimized and my skin felt awake and revived.  You could say my skin was aglow.  I loved how my skin didn’t feel dry after wearing the mask either.  This mask has decadence written all over it.

Cleopatra Milk and Honey Mask-

This month the sidekick product is LILFOX’s newest product the Cleopatra Milk and Honey Mask.  This is a dry mask.  I really appreciate dry masks at times for a good detox, and also because they last longer than a traditional mask since they aren’t activated until you mix them with water.  I feel you get the full potency right as your mixing it with water, creating for yourself your own little spa treatment.  The mask incorporates coconut milk, crushed rose petals, honey and french rose clay.  Plus resurfacing enzymes of pineapple and papaya.  I typically am not drawn to dry masks, because my skin is dry and they tend to detoxify so well that my skin is also left feeling quite taut.  But I must say the Cleopatra was a different mask all together.  It really exfoliated my skin more than any other dry mask has and gave it such a smooth feeling.  My skin didn’t feel moisturized necessarily but that isn’t the job of a detox mask.  My makeup went on smoother and I felt I had a little skin resurfacing right in my own bathroom-not too shabby!

If you haven’t subscribed to Beauty Heroes this is the month-get on it!  Have I mentioned the value you get in a Beauty Heroes Box?  It’s crazy!  This box alone, was over $100 in value.  When you sign up for Beauty Heroes initially you pay for 3 months, which is $115.  Which averages out to $38.33 a month…so you’re already paying for your first month’s box if you joined this month!  I’m not a math wizard but that’s a deal.  And you’re getting the best of the best every month in green beauty.

Also, be sure to check out the Beauty Store here for all the best of green beauty.  Every month Beauty Heroes offers a Love More Promotion.  This offer is for non-members and members.  April’s Love More promotion is a double dose of Josh Rosebrook when you spend $125+ in The Beauty Store. ($30 Value) Josh’s newest products in deluxe samples, the Advanced Hydrating Mask and the not yet released Vital Balm Cream, are up for grabs this month as the promotion. What a great promotion!

LILFOX Review

LILFOX Review

So excited to share with you guys my experience with LILFOX!  I first heard about LILFOX through my Glowing Beet’s Box. Their products are packed in amethyst glass to help preserve the the contents, and protect the biodiversity of the formula.  Who doesn’t love that?

I sampled five of LILFOX’s amazing creations, and I’m here to say, they were just lovely!

Aphrodite Rose Toning Mist-

This rose mist smells amazing.  The rose isn’t overpowering at all-but subtle.  Rose is so soothing and this toning mist gives off that vibe completely.  I love spraying it on after I cleanse my skin before my serums and oils.  It’s the perfect skin balancer.  It leaves my skin feeling moist and supple.  Did I mention the glass containers-oh yeah I did, well I just love them!    $40

I apply it after I spritz my face with the rose toning mist.  It melts into my skin and leaves it feeling perfectly hydrated.  The best part?  Waking up to skin that feels moisturized, even and balanced.  I love this little creation!  If you’ve been looking for a good serum/oil-this is your baby.  $110

Chlorophyll+Tourmaline Antioxidant Mask-

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ve noticed I’ve talked about this mask and for good reason!  It’s one of the best brightening masks I’ve used.  It instantly gives my skin a shot of caffeine if you will.  I apply it after my skin has been cleansed and spritzed with the Rose Toner.  Then I mix a teaspoon of the mask with water until it turns into a creamy consistency.  Then I apply it all over my skin.  I did notice a slight tingling sensation.  I only need to leave it on for 5-7 minutes and I see results.  I left it on once for about 20 minutes and it was too long for me.  It’s a clay mask, so it does tighten as it dries.  Oh and it smells like a matcha green tea latte-so good.  $68

Kalahari Eye Serum-

The rose and the sandalwood smell so good together in this concoction.  I love that the serum is in a roller ball form-such a nice change of pace from other eye serums.  There is such a blend of powerful oils in this serum too.  A unique oil I haven’t seen a lot of is Kalahari oil.  It’s an oil cold pressed from African watermelon seeds.  In cultures it has been known for it’s high nutrient properties.  I noticed an overall brightening effect as I woke up in the morning.  The oil melts right into the skin and doesn’t leave an oily residue.  The ease of use and results have me coming back for more!  $68

Orange Blossom and Ylang Bang Body Butter-

Ohhh, this body butter is good!  The smell-crazy amazing.  I feel I don’t even need to wear a natural perfume when I use this because the fragrance smells so good.  Plus, skin feels so hydrated after using it.  I apply this after I shower and my skin just drinks it up.  It looks like a thick frosting in the container, but then when you apply it to your skin it melts into a rich oil.  This is a luxe body butter and perfect for anyone looking for the ultimate hydration experience.  $75
