2. Duvet – A duvet is a sack filled with down or synthetic material. It’s usually white and resembles a comforter.
3. Duvet Cover – As the name implies, the duvet covers and protects a duvet. The duvet slips into the duvet cover and is closed in with buttons.
4. Quilt – A quilt lays on top of the bed as a blanket or as a decorative piece.
5. Coverlet – A coverlet is a cross between a blanket and a quilt. It’s lightweight with a woven design. Can be used as a stand-alone bed covering or as an overlay to a bedspread.
6. Bedspread – A bedspread is a decorative covering for a bed that typically extends to the floor on all sides. It is designed to add both style and a lightweight layer of warmth to a bed. Unlike duvets and comforters, bedspreads are typically not filled with additional insulation and are meant to be used as a top layer over sheets and blankets.

Wool is prone to shrinking if not dried properly, however, cotton can also shrink after the initial washing. In general, cotton maintains its shape and size.

Care of Wool Comforters 

Wool is a natural fiber so it requires some TLC in order to maintain its shape and all of its beneficial qualities. 

• Refresh and Sanitize – Exposure to direct sunlight and air can help sanitize your comforter. Aim for 1x/month.

• Spot Treatment  – Use a solution of 3 parts water to one part vinegar or mild detergent for stains. Allow the affected area to dry between applications.

• Wash  – It is best to use a top loader washing machine as it uses a quick back and forth motion versus a front loader which agitates or slowly flips items.

Select the hand wash or most gentle cycle.  

Fill the washing machine with warm water and add mild detergent. Place the comforter in the machine and push it down to allow it to absorb the water. 

Please note that for the Washable Wool Comforter it is recommended to wash in cold water on a gentle cycle. Read the care instructions carefully on your wool comforter before plunging into the washing machine!

Use the soak and spin cycles only and skip the wash cycle. Stop in the soak and rinse cycle to avoid any slow flips or spins.

Manually adjust setting to high-speed spin to allow the water to spin out. Repeat soak and spin cycles as needed.
