Risewell is a brand that has found ingredients for their oral care products that are not only clean but effective also. Many of us know that we want to avoid fluoride for a whole host of reasons. However, just because oral care products are fluoride free doesn’t mean the other ingredients are great or that it is doing anything to support your oral health. - Xylitol: Basically starves the bad bacteria in your mouth causing cell death, resulting in less of the acids they produce that can cause cavities.
- Cilica and Calcium Carbonate: Gently clean the teeth without damaging the enamel. With this small study showing that toothpaste with calcium carbonate removes more plaque than toothpaste without it.
- Wild Mint and Peppermint Oils: Freshen breath and kill oral pathogens.
- Tea Tree Oil: Has antibacterial and antifungal properties, with one study showing that it is more effective than chlorhexidine, an ingredient commonly used as a disinfectant and in oral rinses.
- Cinnamon and Thyme Extracts: Thymol, a component of thyme, inhibits the growth of oral pathogens and may reduce dental cavities.
- Orange, Eucalyptus and Lemon Oils: These are anti-inflammatory oils.
- Sodium Bicarbonate: A gentle cleanser and pH balancer.
- Stevia and Erythritol: Natural sweeteners
But beyond these amazing natural ingredients what really makes them stand out amongst other brands is that they use an ingredient called hydroxyapatite. Many other natural toothpastes may not use toxic ingredients, but they also aren’t really doing anything to help your oral health.
