Best Natural Face Washes

I’ve rounded out the Best Green Beauty Cleansers for you!  I get so many questions on what is the best green cleanser, so I thought I would share my faves.  There is something for everyone and every budget. Every skin type has specific needs and goals. All of these cleansers keep your ph in check, so you’re not left with skin that is crying out for hydration.  If anything these organic face washes help put moisture back in your skin and protect your acid mantle.

Also, on another note something I’ve noticed people don’t often do is cleanse their skin properly.  If you don’t properly cleanse your skin, none of your other products can be as effective.  You want to make sure you get all your makeup off from the day and the grime.  Otherwise you are caking products on top of dirty skin and causing possible blemishes because of dirt buildup.  Even if you don’t wear makeup you need to wash your face!  Yes, it get’s dirty even without makeup.  Let’s find the best green cleanser for your skin type!

How to choose the right cleanser?

Think about what your skin type is and what you need.  Is your skin dry, is it oily, sensitive, acne prone?  Once you’ve established your skin type then you can decide on what type of formula you like working with.

  • Oil Cleanser
  • Balm Cleanser
  • Cream Cleanser

*I’ve highlighted my favorite for each skin type below.

Best For Dry/Normal Skin- Marie Veronique Replenishing Oil-

This cleanser is an oil but more of a creamy oil.  It comes in a glass pump bottle which makes me love it even more.  I always shake it up before I use it to make sure the product is evenly distributed.  I get my skin slightly damp and then squeeze out a small amount and massage into my skin. It removes not only my face makeup but also my eye makeup-with no stinging!  Yes, a miracle cleanser is what I call it.  After I massage it all in, I then take a warm wash cloth and wipe off.  It doesn’t dry out my skin at all but helps keep it so balanced.  It’s rare as a green beauty blogger that I actually finish a product, but this one…it’s almost gone.  Get the Marie Veronique Cleanser here!

Best Cleanser for Mature/Aging Skin- Beautycounter’s Countertime Cleansing Oil-

This cleanser is unique and so good and is the best natural face cleanser for aging skin.  The cleanser is a spin off of Asian skincare.  You apply it to dry skin as an oil but as you add water it emulsifies into a milky consistency.  It removes all my makeup effortlessly, no stinging and my skin doesn’t feel stripped after using.  I literally want to use this every night- it’s that good.  Trust me I have a variety of other products I could use but I keep reaching for this one over and over.  Did I mention the smell?  AH-MAZING!  Get it here.

First off, the smell of this lovely cleanser is divine!  It smells like tropical paradise…if that’s even a smell or possible.  It is an oil cleanser, but has more slip to it.  You don’t need to even use a washcloth to get all the residue off, you can just rinse with water.  After cleansing, my face feels perfectly clean, smooth, and balanced.  It gets rid of all my makeup so easily.  Oh and it comes in a glass pump bottle, which my inner green goddess loves.  If your skin is dry/combination this is your baby. Get it here!

Best Normal/Combination Skin Cleanser- OSEA Ocean Cleanser-

This cleanser is milky smooth to the core!  I love how it gets rid of all my makeup and grime but doesn’t strip my skin.  It feels so silky on the skin.  The scent is so pleasant too- I get hints of jasmine.  It has lactic acid in it that helps to slough off the dead skin and reveal a bright glowing complexion.  I love how it even removes my eye makeup effortlessly.  I just rub it all over my eye area and it quickly picks up all the dirt and grime.  Then I rinse off with water and then wipe clean with a warm washcloth.  I also get my face a little damp before I apply the cleanser- helps to give it a little slip.  My skin feels so clean but balanced and not too dry.  Plus, I love that it comes in a glass frosted bottle- swoon!  Get the OSEA cleanser here!

Best Budget Friendly Cleanser- VaniCream Gentle Facial Cleanser-

 width=

This cleanser is not only the most budget friendly cleanser and easiest to get(hello Amazon) but it also works amazingly well!  I had a skin flare up this past year and was desperate to find a cleanser that wouldn’t irritate it and would soothe my skin.  After reading rave reviews about VaniCream’s Gentle Facial Cleanser, I knew I was on to something.  It comes in a pump bottle.  It is free of fragrance, sulfates, gluten and is non-comedogenic.  It’s made for acne prone skin or any skin that is irritated in general.  I get my face damp and then rub the cleanser in circular motions all over my skin.  It leaves it feeling so smooth and clean.  This is also a minimal ingredient cleanser, which makes it great for sensitive skin.  Even though it doesn’t contain oils, it doesn’t feel stripping to the skin.  This was the only cleanser I used for months because my skin was so inflamed.  It totally helped calm it!  Highly recommend if you have sensitive or acne prone skin. This is definitely my husband’s pick for best natural face wash for men.  It’s a no fuss cleanser.  Apply it to damp skin, it slightly emulsifies and you rinse off- so easy for men. Get it here!

All Skin Types- Mahalo Unveil Cleansing Balm-

 width=

The Unveil Cleanser is a definite fave-it’s so good!! I can’t get enough.  First the scent is tantalizing. With notes of lemon, fragonia, ginger, pink peppercorn and cardamom. It smells like a burst of lemony bright goodness! It comes in a round wooden jar- Mahalo’s signature look. It’s so unique compared to any cleanser I’ve used-in a league of it’s own. Upon contact with your skin and a little water it melts and turns into this amazing lather. It removes all my makeup effortlessly and with no stinging around the eye area. Don’t get me started on all the ingredients-swoon worthy!  My skin feels so balanced and nourished after. Get the Unveil Cleanser here!

All Skin Types- Maya Chia The Great Cleanse-⠀⠀

 width=

This cleanser is so good.  First of all the packaging-on point.  Dark glass pump bottle, preserves every last drop.  It’s an oil cleanser.  So you apply it on dry skin and rub in circular motions all over.  It removes all my makeup effortlessly-yes even the stubborn eye makeup.  When I’m ready to rinse it off I apply the slightest amount of water and rub it over my face.  It really helps to break up anything lingering.  It has the slightest emulsification when adding the water-which I love!  Then I rinse with warm water and it comes off easily.  A lot of oil cleansers you have to really rub off with a washcloth to get the product off but not with this cleanser.  It’s so nice to have it come off so easy.  My skin feels perfectly balanced after cleansing-not too dry or oily.   Get the Maya Chia Cleanser here!

Hi! This was a great review! Since I switched to green beauty I’ve tried quite a few cleansers to replace my tried and true Foaming face wash which removed all make-up quickly. As much as I’ve wanted to love an oil make-up remover/cleanser I just can’t get past the heavy oil feel afterwards. I also learned that a cleanser doesn’t mean it will take off make-up (which is why I have a lot of cleansers to get through!) So, I appreciate your notes about the cleansers which do. A few questions for you 1) do you use a make-up remover and then a cleanser?
    2) what are your thoughts on One Love Organics B Enzyme Cleansing Oil? So far, of all the many make-up removers I’ve tried it’s my favorite- sort of a creamy oil. Wondering if any you’ve tried are similar and how they compare?
    3) for a cleanser after I remove make-up and then in the morning to get a fresh face I LOVE. LOVE Luminance Delicate Cleanser. Also their Rose Toner. I have quite a few items from this line and would love your thoughts if you’ve tried them.
You have been my go-to resource since I started my clean beauty journey – THANK YOU!!!
