About Jolie

At Jolie, they believe that beauty starts with clean water. That is why they created a shower filter that removes contaminants from the water to improve your hair, skin and overall wellbeing.

Jolie Filtered Shower Head
I was excited to try out the ‘best in class’ filtered shower head.

Jolie Filtered Shower Head

The Jolie Filtered Shower Head has been designed to be the ‘best in class’ when it comes to filtering your shower water. It does this by removing more contaminants than other filters on the market. It also has a sleek design and easy installation. Check out what I found to be the pros and cons of Jolie below:

Pros & Cons

Pros

  • Can try risk free for up to 60 days (if purchased directly from Jolie)
  • Designed to optimize your water pressure
  • Sleek look
  • Has a universal fit
  • Easy to install
  • Available in multiple colors
  • Has been tested by multiple 3rd party labs
  • Exceeds NSF-177 certifications. It has shown over 84% removal of chlorine through the entire lifespan of the filter, which exceeds NSF-177 certifications of 50%.

Cons

  • Cost (Subscribe to save). It does come out to just .40 cents per day for the filter, but obviously over time that can add up.
  • Filter needs to be replaced every 90 days – efficacy will diminish after this amount of time

Why Use A Filtered Shower Head?

Using a filtered shower head can offer multiple benefits for both health and cosmetic reasons. Ultimately, the benefits will vary based on individual needs and the quality of local water

Check out my Filtered Water Guide for details on how to find out exactly what’s in your tap water.

Here are some reasons why many people choose to use a filtered shower head:

Chlorine Removal: Municipal water is often treated with chlorine to eliminate bacteria, parasites and viruses. While this is done to make the water safe to drink, chlorine (or the disinfection by-products) can have a drying effect on the skin and hair. A filtered shower head can help reduce exposure to chlorine during showers.

Improved Hair and Skin Health: By filtering out chlorine and other contaminants, many people find that their skin becomes less dry and itchy, and their hair feels softer and looks shinier. This can be especially noticeable for people with sensitive skin or color-treated hair.

Protection from Harmful Contaminants: Apart from chlorine, tap water may contain other potentially harmful contaminants like heavy metals, pesticides, and bacteria. A good shower filter can help in reducing exposure to these contaminants.

Better Respiratory Health: Inhaling chlorine (including the disinfection by-products) and other chemicals in the form of steam can irritate the respiratory system, especially in those with respiratory issues or sensitivities. And unfortunately there isn’t much data about the risks of breathing in some of these contaminants (source). A filtered shower head reduces this risk.

Reduced Limescale: In areas with hard water, a filtered shower head can help reduce the buildup of limescale, which can clog the shower head and reduce water flow.

Is Jolie Better Than Other Filtered Shower Heads?

Yes, Jolie is better than other filtered shower heads.

When creating Jolie it was discovered that using carbon to filter was not as effective in a shower due to the temperature of the water and the high water pressure.

That is why Jolie chooses to use a proprietary blend of KDF-55 and Calcium Sulfite, which far exceeds NSF-177 certifications and includes the most KDF-55 vs. any other existing shower filter.

I did reach out and request Jolie’s 3rd party testing results, but never hear back from the brand.

Jolie Filtered Showerhead Review

The installation of the Jolie shower head really impressed me – it took just a couple minutes! My husband and I both like how the shower head feels on the skin.  It really covers your whole body and feels like it’s getting your whole body as your shower. Even my 4 year old tried it out and didn’t want to get out!  The water flows so nicely on the skin.

I could also tell a difference in my skin as it didn’t feel as dry after showering.  Typically, I can tell when I take a shower that doesn’t have a filtered shower head because my skin is always so dry.  I didn’t feel that at all.  My skin actually felt softer! My husband agreed.

I also noticed a difference in my hair.  My hair was shinier using the Jolie filter and the shower head itself really helped to clean my hair.  I know the shower head itself is not the main purpose of the shower filter but it definitely is really nice and adds to the whole experience!  Plus, the shower head just looks so sleek in the shower.

So many positive customer reviews for Jolie – including mine!

On-line Reviews

The on-line reviews for the Jolie Shower Head Filter are crazy good! Almost unbelievable. On their website, they have 713 out of 726 reviews that are 5 star reviews and 100% of reviewers would recommend Jolie to a friend. There were also no reviews less than a 4 star review.

Here is a sampling of what customers had to say:

“I did not think this showerhead was going to make a big difference in my shower experience but boy was I wrong! My hair and skin are softer and my skin is less irritated and itchy!”

“I absolutely love my Jolie! My skin and hair are forever grateful for Jolie! The change is noticeable very quickly and I will never not have a Jolie in all my residences!”

“Upgrading from another brand of filter we noticed a major improvement with the Jolie filter. My wife has received multiple compliments regarding how healthy her hair looks which is one of the greatest compliments a woman can get.”

I also checked out reviews on Amazon for more of a sampling. Their customers rated Jolie a 4.4 out of 5 stars. Here are some of the reviews:

“I am so glad I finally got this filter! It is true to product description. My hair is growing and is so much healthier. My water even feels smooth”

“This shower head has completely changed my skin and hair. The filter process has made my skin and hair shinier and softer. Amazing product, 10 out of 10!!!”

“This came very nicely packed and supplied with all of the tools needed for installation. Installation was easy. The problem, however, was that the shower head produces far less water pressure than my usual shower head. It took forever to rinse my hair and body with such weak water output. I went back to my original shower head and filter setup.”

“I didn’t feel like my hair or skin felt any different, but I live in a rural area with extremely hard water. Unfortunately I did not feel like it was worth the purchase in my case.”

Jolie Filtered Shower Head
The Jolie Filtered Shower Head has a permanent home in my shower!

Conclusion: Is the Jolie Filtered Showerhead worth it?

It is 100% worth it!  I was skeptical after reading reviews(there’s so many positive ones), but I can say after using it firsthand it lives up to the hype.  My hair and skin both are noticeably better using it and the shower head is made so well!

I wonder how the Jolie compares to the $40 Aquabliss Heavy Duty HD filter (without shower head.) I bought it after reading a lot of professional reviews online. We have a very customized shower head that fits our needs perfectly so I was glad that I could just add this filter into the mix without having to scrap my beloved rain/handheld shower setup. Maybe Jolie offers a plain filter?

Mainly I’m wondering how the filtration system compares. Is it worth the higher cost?

I’ve had the Aquabliss HD for 6+ months now and haven’t needed to replace the filter yet. I have replaced the sediment pad though, after 3 months. We live in Utah with pretty hard water (230ppm.) It also has a reputation of being low quality water. Unfortunately, I don’t know whether it is helping our hair and skin because, of course, what prompted me to use a filter also prompted me to change my hair and skin products. Some problems have improved and some have not. The root growth in my hair is definitely more shiny. My shampoo and body wash definitely lather more (that could only be caused by the filter.) We are itching less and our skin is less dry but I eliminated irritating ingredients from our beauty and laundry products at the same time. I also started misting myself with jojoba oil after showers. So???

My husband has mild eczema. I have seen less irritation with him, but it could be down to the skin-friendly products once again. He does still get unexplainable itchiness occasionally, to the point that he has to apply hydrocortisone cream. Nothing else relieves it.

What has not improved: My husband and I both have severe seborrheic dermatitis. I was really hoping the filter would help. But we have not been able to decrease the amount of treatment or medication we need to keep it at bay. Second, I am experiencing hair thinning from lack of estrogen caused by a medication I have to take to prevent breast cancer. The hair thinning was actually not a problem until after I got the shower filter. I don’t think it’s the cause, but the filter has not prevented the problem as far as I can tell (would it be worse without it? I don’t know.) I will say, though, that my husband seemed to have hair thinning (at 30) a couple of years ago, and I have not seen it getting worse since then. He isn’t treating it any other way.

We are also taking vitamin supplements in the last 2 months to help with hair thinning and eliminate the possibility of a vitamin deficiency being the cause in both of us. (B complex, D & K, magnesium.)

Drinking the water from the shower does taste better so I know the filter is doing something. However, now we have a reverse osmosis filter in the kitchen so I drink that. I do try to wash my face, either in the shower, or at the kitchen sink. I would love a filter on my bathroom sink for my hands and face.

If you try the Aquabliss (or anyone else can compare them) I would love to hear what you think.

Thanks for the great review of the Jolie. Your blog posts seem honest and well informed. I think you deserve the commission you get from sponsored links because of the work you put into reviewing the products thoroughly. I would love, though, some more product comparisons. I can imagine how that might be tricky.

How would you compare this to berkey, which we have always used? Also, are you still happy with this? Thanks!
