Kosas
Founded in 2015 by Sheena Yaitanes, Kosas is a clean beauty brand known for its commitment to safe and natural ingredients. The name “Kosas” reflects the Ayurvedic philosophy of five interconnected layers of the self – meaning beauty is so much more than what’s on the surface.
Kosas makeup products have been clinically proven to make your skin look even better, not just when you are wearing makeup, but even when you aren’t! And I have always said that Kosas reminds of my conventional favorite MAC products with their bold pigments and packaging. Sometimes we want a no makeup makeup look – but that’s not the goal with a Kosas product.
The brand offers a range of makeup products, emphasizing clean formulations, inclusivity in shade range, and versatile, enhancing products. Kosas has gained popularity for its transparency, dedication to skin health, and success in the clean beauty industry.

Comedogenic Ingredients
The two potential comedogenic ingredients in this foundation are Ethylhexyl Olivate and Glyceryl Oleate.
Ethylhexyl Olivate is an emollient derived from olive oil. Some people can do ok with olive oil, but others can break out from it.
The next ingredient is Glyceryl Oleate, which is the ester of glycerin and oleic acid. It’s derived from olive, peanut or pecan oil. Again, these could be potential comedogenic ingredients for some.
Kosas strives to carry products that are non-comedogenic. They even take it a step further to have an independent lab assess their complexion formulas to ensure that they don’t show any evidence of clogging pores. However, at the end of the day it really comes down to individual skin types and that is why I mention the two ingredients above.
Per Kosas, all of their products “pass at least three levels of clinical and analytical testing at independent labs before they arrive on shelves.”
Questionable Ingredients
Mica– While mica in itself is not a questionable ingredient it is often not responsibly sourced. I reached out to Kosas on their Mica Sourcing and here is what they said, “We only use 100% ethically sourced mica. We source our mica from the US from privately owned mines to ensure that child-labor is never used, and that miners are paid a fair wage and treated well.”
Color Shades Available
36 shades available – I wear the shade Light Neutral 140
Application
I apply 1 pump of foundation and use a foundation brush to apply. However, you could use your fingers too.
Coverage
The foundation doesn’t feel cakey at all. It feels light on the skin and offers great coverage. One pump is minimal coverage, but with two pumps you can achieve medium coverage.
Finish
The finish is dewy. It looks natural but has a natural satin/dew finish.
Longevity
The longevity of the foundation is great. I was impressed with how well it held up. Even by the end of the day my makeup still looked great.
Price
$42

Final Thoughts
It feels like a foundation on the skin, offering great coverage, but doesn’t feel too heavy or greasy. I love the coverage it has! Often you can only find a tinted moisturizer with SPF in it and the coverage isn’t great but not this foundation. This not only offers great coverage but SPF as well. It has a really creamy finish that helps to blurb imperfections and minimize pores. Great for spring and summer when you want sun protection.
You can also get Kosas at Detox Market, Aillea and Amazon.

The Kosas Revealer Foundation is definitely worth it! I love that it comes in a variety of colors, has SPF, but still feels like a foundation and not just a tinted moisturizer. They really delivered a stellar formula!
