Active Ingredients
- Zinc Oxide – Broad Spectrum SPF 30 UVA/UVB, non-nano.
- Sodium Hyaluronate – Retains 1000x its weight in water, making it an exceptional hydrator.
- Rosa Damascena Extract – An active level serum that boosts collagen and hyaluronic acid synthesis.
- Bulgarian Rose Damascena Oil – One of the rarest rose oils in the world, a rich source of oleic fatty acids (Omega-9) and chock full of antioxidants.
- Vitamin C – Protects against free radical damage, evens skin tone, and promotes collagen production and anti-inflammatory properties.
Questionable Ingredients
- Phenoxyethanol- This is another one that I used to think was an automatic no that since looking into I’ve changed my mind. It really depends on sourcing and the amount. The research shows amounts less than 1% are harmless. Know you’re sourcing and the amount that is used. It’s used to preserve products. Can be found in makeup, skincare, shampoos, body care, fragrance, and hand soap. (We did email Iris & Romeo and asked if they knew if their phenoxyethanol was contaminated or not- still waiting to hear back).
- Alumina- Often you will see this ingredient present in a product when there is a mineral sunscreen involved. The reason for this is it is used as a coating blend for mineral sunscreens. It helps provide an even application and blending of the product. While some say it can be absorbed easier because it is typically nano sized in this form for sunscreen, the actual amount in the formula is so small that it doesn’t pose a huge risk. The research doesn’t have any strong findings to prove it has negative implications too. However, if you do have aluminum sensitivity this may be a concern for you.
- Dimethicone- The concern with dimethicone is more the worry of it causing acne/inflammation. It depends on your skin type. While a dry skin type might love the feel of a product with dimethicone because it helps trap moisture in, others with acne type skin may not like it because it causes acne flare ups.
How Best To Apply
Iris & Romeo recommends applying with your finger tips. They say to start with warming the product in your hands. Then dot on the face like you would your moisturizer. Then rub in. Allow the product to melt into the skin.
Coverage
Light to medium buildable coverage.
Longevity
I was very impressed with the overall longevity of Best Skin Days. It lasted the whole day and still looked fresh at night. It settled into my skin but didn’t look worn.
Price
$48
Review
I remember trying this for the first time and loving it from the minute I applied it. It has such a nice lightweight texture to the formula. Not heavy. It looks like your skin but enhanced. I love when a foundation has sunscreen in it but doesn’t feel heavy. This is perfect year round, but especially in the summer when you want to feel pulled together but also want a good mineral sunscreen too- the best of both worlds. It leaves my skin looking dewy and fresh. I wear the color 3. I also loved how I could just spot treat with it for a very light look, or blend out to really create a medium coverage look.
Conclusion: Is Best Skin Days worth the price?
I do think Best Skin Days is worth the price. It can be hard to find a product that hits all the marks of a good mineral sunscreen with tint and Best Skin Days does just that! It doesn’t feel heavy, but is lightweight and still provides great sun protection. You also get a good size jar that will last you a while. Since you don’t need a lot of product for application, I find the jar actually goes a long way. Another reason Best Skin Days really delivers!
