Best Natural Lipsticks

Best Natural Lipsticks

I’ve got my best natural lipsticks in honor of National Lipstick Day!  Switching from mainstream lip products to cleaner versions is a big deal!  I mean, don’t get me wrong, you should definitely switch all your makeup over from mainstream products, but the lips are especially important.  Why??  Well, for starters studies show that women re-apply their lipstick/lip product at least 5 times a day…so that’s a lot of toxins  (more…)

My Seven Minute Summer Face

My seven minute summer face has been happening on the daily.  I’ve never been one of those five minute face gals-just can’t do it.  There’s something about those extra two minutes that I always end up needing.  I’m all about simple and easy makeup for summer.  When temperatures rise, the last thing I want is a full face of makeup on!

In this video tutorial I’m showing you my seven minute summer face, and the seven products that make it happen.  You’ll look put together, and it will only take 7 minutes-promise!  I’m dishing on the green beauty products below and how they take me from looking bare faced to summer ready.

Marie Veronique-

I discovered this tinted moisturizing sunscreen a couple years ago and haven’t looked back.  It hydrates my skin, offers a great tint, evens out my skin tone, and gives me the sun protection with SPF 30-what more do you want?!  It doesn’t look oily or greasy on, but dewy.  The perfect coverage for summer days, when you want some coverage but don’t want to put a full face on.  Get your Marie Veronique here!

Crunchi Bronzer-

This bronzer can not only be worn on your face but body too!  I love that it has a little shimmer in it, adds such a pretty glow.  I’ve been wearing this where the sun would hit my face and blending it down my neck and on my shoulders.  I don’t know what screams summer more than a great bronzer!  This is a must in my beauty bag! Get your bronzer here!

Maya Chia Highlight of The Day in After Hours-

The newest Highlight of the Day from Maya Chia.  I’ve been raving about it and for good reason-it makes you look like you’re literally glowing from the inside out.  Wear it by itself, mix it with your foundation, or wear it on top of all your makeup-works any way you wear it.  You’ll love it-trust me!  Snag your bottle here!

Vapour Organic Beauty Multi-Use Stick in Sultry-

This warm peachy hue has summer written all over it.  I can’t get enough of the color and how easy it is to use.  I love a good multi-use product and this is just that.  You can use it for your lips, cheeks or even your eyes!  Throw it in your beach bag and call it a day!  Your beauty bag just got a little lighter-your welcome.  Snag your multi-use stick here!

Hynt Eyebrow Cream Definer in the color Espresso-

I love this eyebrow definer!  It gives my brows definition and shape but looks so natural at the same time.  It’s easy to apply too!  If you haven’t found an eyebrow definer I recommend checking it out.  Get your Hynt Brow Definer here!

Crunchi Concealer-

This concealer is simple and effective.  It gets rid of dark circles-hello mom eyes!  Goes on smooth and doesn’t look cakey, you guys know what I mean.  I applied this under my eyes and around my nose where I tend to get a little red.  It isn’t heavy at all but a great lightweight concealer.  Snag your Crunchi concealer here!

Zuzu Luxe Mascara

This is an easy to apply mascara that gets the job done and is budget friendly!  The formula gets better the more air gets to it-it’s usually perfect after 2 weeks or so.  It gives my lashes separation, definition and length.  It doesn’t flake on me at all either!  Grab your Zuzu Luxe Mascara  here!

That rounds out my seven minute summer face!  See any faves here?  What’s your magic number for getting your face summer ready?

Lily Lolo Review

Lily Lolo Review

I finally got my hands on some Lily Lolo products!  I was so excited to review their makeup.  I had tried their mascara last fall and it was a winner, so I was on pins and needles to try some more!  I snagged my Lily Lolo loot from the Choosy Chick.  Your one stop shop for the whole family when it comes to green living products.  Their standards are amazing!  Margot, the founder, has 4 kids of her own and she researches ingredients like crazy.  I’m always impressed with all the thought she puts into the lines she carries.  We need more companies doing that!  I love that I not only can purchase something for myself, but also for my baby and my husband.  Makes online shopping that much easier!

Lily Lolo is just one of a handful of makeup brands that The Choosy Chick carries.  It’s a clean makeup line that offers a nice range of products and is budget friendly.  I was really impressed with the prices.  You can get a whole eye palette with 8 shadows for $34!  Can’t beat that for quality, non-toxic products. Their line isn’t complicated either.  There isn’t 100 products to choose from or colors.  Sometimes less is more.  Lily Lolo is made in London and was birthed out of Vicki Khan, who fell in love with mineral makeup.  Her passion drove her to create Lily Lolo and has since won awards for her natural makeup line!

So what did I try?

  • BB Cream
  • Natural Eye Liner Pencil
  • Pedal to the Medal Eye Shadow Palette
  • Eyelid Primer
  • Sculpt & Glow Contour Kit

BB Cream-

This BB Cream is thick and smooth.  It’s heavier than a tinted moisturizer and offers a bit more coverage as well.  I love how silky and creamy it feels.  I apply it after my moisturizer with either my hands or a beauty blender.  It isn’t super hydrating on it’s own.  My skin tends to be on the drier side.  It offers an overall polished look but doesn’t look heavy.  I still applied some concealer under my eyes and around my nose where I am a little more red.  It isn’t going to give you full coverage.  I think it’s perfect for summer weather when you still want to look put together, but don’t want to look like you’re wearing your heavy winter foundation.  I tried it in the color Light. Below you’ll find me wearing it without anything else on so you can get an idea of the coverage.  Get your BB Cream here!

Natural Eye Liner Pencil in Brown-

This is a typical eye liner pencil that you sharpen.  It glides on smoothly and easily.  I really like the consistency.  I applied it on my upper and lower lash lines.  I did set it with some translucent powder just because my lids are oily and if I don’t it will be gone by the afternoon!  I also added a little brown eye shadow after applying it.  I was really able to achieve the brown smoky eye with this pencil.  Loved the look it created.  You can see me below wearing it on both my top and bottom lash lines.  Snag your Eye Liner here!

Pedal to the Medal Eye Shadow Palette-

I’ve seriously wanted to try this palette for so long!  I was so excited when I finally got my hands on one!  I love how you get 8 shadow colors in one palette.  You don’t need another palette!  This is a great mix of shadow colors too. They also have more color palettes to choose from if this color range doesn’t suit you.  This palette had some great matte colors, nudes, some shimmer and even smoky colors.  I had fun wearing different varieties.  Also, the shadows are so easy to use.  A lot of shadows will get all over your lid, but these are really fail proof.  They aren’t as pigmented as some shadows I’ve used, which makes them easier to use in my opinion.  You can easily blend them together and it looks like you know what you’re doing…haha even if you don’t!  Great for everyday wear or dressing up too-transitions so easy with this palette.  A definite must in any green beauty’s makeup bag! Grab your palette here!

Eyelid Primer-

This primer is a great 2 in 1.  Not only does it help provide a good base for eye shadows but it also helps to neutralize discoloration where their is darkness around the eyes.  The neutral shade is perfect for applying before putting on your eye shadow and the lemon shade can be used to help with dark areas around the eyes.  You can also mix them together too!  I prepped my lid with some translucent powder before applying the eyelid primer just because my lids are naturally oily and the primer consistency is a little oily as well.  Then after the powder I applied the eyelid primer.  I just dabbed a little on with my finger.  It created such a great neutral canvas for the shadows to adhere to.  It helped them pop!  I did use some of the lemon around my eyes-especially under the eye area to make them stand out and even out darkness.  Grab your Eyelid Primer here!

Sculpt & Glow Contour Kit-

This kit is another great 2 in 1 product!  One side is a contour bronzer and the other side is a luminizer.  Both are in powder form.  I applied the bronzer all over my face where I would normally contour.  Everywhere from upper forehead, right below the cheek bone, sides of nose and neck area.  I love the color it gives-not orange at all but a really great bronzed/tan look.  The luminizer didn’t disappoint either!  I applied it where I normally highlight, bridge of nose, upper cheek bone, right below eyebrow, in between my upper eyebrows and middle of chin and cupid’s bow.  It really gave a nice glow but wasn’t too dramatic.  This is the perfect set for contouring!  Such a good deal too! I’ve also tried their Coralista Cheek Duo and loved it!  You can check out my review for it here! I have it pictured above as well.  Get your Sculpt & Glow Contour Kit here!

That sums up my review of Lily Lolo!  Did you see anything you’re drooling over?  I also have tried their blushes and mascara and love them both!  This line is a standout! Right now The Choosy Chick is running a special promo for Lily Lolo too!  Use Code: LOVELINER on any Lily Lolo order over $50 and receive a complimentary eyeliner!  Hurry, limited quantities left!  Shop the full Lily Lolo line here.

Fresh Faced Look for Winter by Vapour Beauty

Fresh Faced Look for Winter by Vapour Beauty

So winter is clearly here-It snowed two days ago guys!  My sisters just left for Hawaii today…I mean how is that even fair??  I literally want to curl up in a ball and just eat chocolate sometimes when it gets so cold…can I get a witness??  Thankfully, I’ve had some new makeup to play with that’s been making me remember how much fun winter looks can be!  Vapour Beauty has done it again and created a beautiful Artist Eye Palette called Midnight.  It’s exclusively at AILLEA -an online green beauty retailer that sells everything your green heart could want!

This palette will have you drooling the minute you open it.   Say hello to drama and dimension in your eyes in no time.  With colors of violet, navy and cobalt, you can create so many looks from sultry to dubbed down.  The creamy consistency of the shadows is so fun!  They are so easy to just apply with your fingers or you can use the brush in the palette.  They aren’t heavy either where you might feel it’s easy to mess up but light and easy to blend.  I loved applying the violet color all over my crease, then going in with the cobalt on the inner corners and finishing it off with the navy to bring some depth.  You can even use the navy as a liner if you wanted.

I really played up the drama with it and applied Vapour’s Ink Eyeliner on the top and bottom of my eyes too.  It definitely made a statement!  I had a ton of people comment how much they liked my makeup-note taken, wear eyeliner!  You could definitely just apply the liner on the top for a little less drama too(which I did below).  Then I added Vapour’s Siren Lipstick in Tempt-a great classic medium mauve that pairs perfectly with the Midnight Palette.  The final touch was Vapour’s Elixir Lip Gloss in Pout– a great sheer nude pink color that makes your lips pop.  I’m digging the whole look!  Can you say Valentine’s Date makeup?! Done!

FullSizeRender-2

I’m also wearing Vapour’s Atmosphere Luminous Foundation in 120 and Vapour’s Stratus Soft Focus Primer underneath the foundation.  This is the first time trying their Atmosphere Luminous Foundation and can I just say I love it?!  It’s so creamy and just glides on.  Gives the most natural look.  Plus, I have on Vapour’s Multi-Use Stick in Eros for a blush.  And finishing off the look, some Hynt Beauty Eyebrow Cream in Espresso on the eyebrows, Teri Miyahira Bronzer, Gia Minerals Eye Primer and of course Maya Chia’s Highlight of The Day in Happy Hour.  This look is quickly becoming one of my fave looks hands down!

Beauty Heroes- Fall Makeup Discovery

Beauty Heroes- Fall Makeup Discovery

To say I was excited to get Beauty Heroes Discovery this month would be an understatement!  I couldn’t wait to see what was in the box.  Let’s just say I wasn’t disappointed!  Every month Beauty Heroes delivers green beauty’s finest in skincare, and hair.  However, now you can sample green beauty’s finest in makeup too every 3 months.  This box just gets better and better!  I know some didn’t love the idea of getting makeup as part of their regular Beauty Heroes box so they chose to just include it as an add on if people wanted makeup.  Then the regular Beauty Heroes box just stays consistent having skincare and hair products.

Well sign me up for the makeup!  I loved the first makeup selection Beauty Heroes had a couple months back, so I knew this time was going to be good.  This makeup selection’s hero product is Vapour Organic Stratus Soft Focus Skin Perfecting Primer.  I had never tried it and boy was I in for a treat!  If you’re not familiar with Beauty Heroes, read on below to get the full scoop.

Beauty Heroes was founded by Jeannie Jarnot.  A longtime spa director herself and healthy beauty expert.  I had the pleasure of meeting Jeannie at IBE, and she is truly one of the sweetest people.  Beauty Heroes is a monthly beauty service that selects only the best clean beauty brands.  Each month you can find one to two full size truly heroic products in each box.  The products typically range from skincare to haircare products.  However, every 3 months Beauty Heroes offers a makeup box as well that’s optional for members or non-members.  I absolutely love their “Use Less, Love More” philosophy.  By only getting one or two products, you allow yourself to truly experience them.  Of course you can trust their picks, as they are strict on their integrity standards.  What’s not to love about this whole concept?  As a Beauty Heroes Ambassador, and I couldn’t be more thrilled to be part of such a movement.

Ok, let’s chat about these all star makeup products!

Vapour Stratus Soft Focus Perfecting Primer-

This primer is unlike any I’ve used.  It completely fills in your skin and creates this clean canvas for your foundation to sit on.  It minimizes pores, evens skin tone and just gives your skin that glow we all crave.  I really was shocked how good my skin looked.  It gave it a lit from within glow once I applied my foundation.  The consistency is similar to a light lotion.  Vapour offers three different colors but Beauty Heroes opted to have the  S904- a pale baby pink color, that’s great for light to medium skin tones.  My skin doesn’t feel greasy at all but just hydrated.  I just applied one pump all over my face and waited a minute before applying my foundation.  The primer evens out texture too, creating the perfect surface for foundation.  It also works great on it’s own.  Great for those days when you don’t need that much coverage and just want to even out skin tone.  It’s also sweat and water resistant!  Yeah, pretty amazing.  The crazy part?  My makeup looked amazing well into the evening after applying it in the morning.  No doubt the primer played a role in it.  The ingredients are stellar too.  With organic pumpkin, herbs and elderberry-the combo packs a serious punch!  I had to take a picture for you guys to see the amazing results.  Below you will see the left side of my face is without the primer and foundation application as usual.  The right is with the primer and then foundation application.  Is it just me or does the right side look a whole lot better?!  I mean my skin is glowing on the right side!  Miracle product?  Maybe-you be the judge, all I can say is the proof is in the pudding. Vapour Aura Multi Use Classic-

The sidekicks this month we’re just as good.  Vapour’s Multi Use Stick in Aura, a mauve with deep pink undertones, had me at first swipe!  The color is the perfect everyday color.  It literally would go with anything.  Best part? You can use it on your cheeks, lips, wherever you want to add a bit of color.  I loved the look it gave my cheeks.  It looked so natural, not over done at all.  The cream consistency is a dream as well.  I especially like cream blushes for colder months as the skin tends to be drier.  It gives that boost of dewiness our skin needs.  My lips loved it too.  It gave me a great neutral mauve color and stayed put for a while.  This multi use stick has me wanting one in every color!

Vapour Clarity Makeup Remover-

I never knew their was such a product!  I’ve used oils to remove my makeup but not one specifically made for makeup removal-genius!  Often makeup removers I’ve tried in the past were either more watery, or cream based.  But I love an oil!  This one is just all around fabulous.  I’m so sad it’s already gone(it was a sample size).  Since most of you know my love affair with oil cleansing, it’s no surprise this makeup remover became my jam.  I would apple a dime size about of oil to my hands, rub in circular motions to remove the makeup and then use a washcloth to wipe off.  And yes, it even removed all my eye makeup-no stinging or burning.  I didn’t even have any residual mascara the next morning when I woke up.  It removed everything!  This is a pretty big deal to me.  It’s been hard to find an oil that didn’t leave a residue.  I love this product!  Honestly, I can’t say enough good things.  It’s an all around winner in my book.  A must for any green beauty lover!

Well, that sums up my review of the Beauty Hero’s makeup selection.  I really can’t say enough about this month’s box-they hit it out of the park again!  The box can be purchased by Beauty Hero members and non-members here.  Did I mention the box is worth $101!  But if you’re a member you get 15% off making the box $38.25-a serious steal!  If you’re not a member it’s $45.  If you haven’t signed up for Beauty Heroes I highly recommend it.  You get the best of the best each month.  Also, if you’re a member be sure to hit up the Beauty Hero’s Shop where you get 15% off hero products.  Have you tried any of these makeup goodies?
