SOL Organics down comforter review

SOL Organics down comforter takes sleeping to the next level.

My Green Mattress

This is such a great affordable organic mattress option. I have the Natural Escape Mattress and love it!  It’s their most luxurious mattress. My hubs even raves about it.  I love My Green Mattress because they’re a budget friendly organic mattress brand. This weekend you can save $200 off their Natural Escape mattress using code: REMEMBER.  Check out their mattresses here!  Read my full review here!

SafeSleeve EMF Protection Phone Case

I have a SafeSleeve phone case for my phone and love it. I feel so much better knowing my phone is blocking EMFs from my body.  It’s one simple thing that can make a huge difference.  I also have an iPad case too and it works so well. Check out all the SafeSleeve Cases here!

Berkey

I’ve had the Berkey water filter for many years and I’m super happy with the performance.  It removes bacteria and parasites, heavy metals like lead and mercury, VOCs and toxic chemicals like benzene, chlorine and chromium-6, pesticides, pharmaceutical drugs and more, to levels higher than 99.99%.  The water sits in a stainless steel container on your counter.  When you buy the Berkey water filter you get the black purification elements with it but you have to buy the fluoride filters separately.  The fluoride filters also filter out arsenic too.  Obviously I would recommend buying the fluoride filters!  I have both and have been happy with their performance.  Check out their website and enter your email to get all the details on their sales!  Get a Berkey here!

Almond Cow

This is another gadget that I really thought would be unnecessary but I’ve come to love!  It makes creating nut milk so easy.  When I stopped drinking dairy milk I quickly was thrown into the world of non-dairy milks.  When I realized there wasn’t great options to buy I knew I would need to start making my own.  This makes it so easy!  Just add the nuts and water- push a button and then poof!  You’ve got nut milk!  I can’t recommend it enough.  Use Code: GURLGONEGREEN for $15 off.  Shop Almond Cow here.

White Lotus Home

Looking for a nontoxic organic mattress?  Maybe organic pillows?  Well look no further- White Lotus Home is your go to store!  I have their pillows for our whole family and we all love them.  You can choose from so many varieties- kapok, latex, organic cotton and more.  Our personal favorites are the latex and the kapok.  My daughter also has their twin Organic Cotton and Wool Foam Dreamton Mattress.  Free of harsh chemicals and fire retardants.  We love it!  Use coupon code: GGG225 for 25% off your order!  Shop all of White Lotus Home here!

SOL Organics

I love my SOL Organics sheets and comforter.  Sheets are one of the worst offenders when it comes to chemicals.  When you think of how much you sleep the toxic load adds up.  Getting organic sheets was a must for my family and I.  I also love their down comforters.  It’s filled with 100% Canadian White Down, that’s responsibly grown and harvested.  It is also 100% GOTS cotton down proof.  It has an even fill and is hypoallergenic.  I love how it lays flat and even, something that my last didn’t do.   We have the summer down, since we tend to run warm at night.  Use SPRING for 25% off!  Shop all of SOL Organics here!

Sharing all the Memorial Day Sales for 2020 on the blog!

Natural Cleaning Products

Natural Cleaning Products

Sharing my favorite natural cleaning products with you today.  I’ve had a lot of people recently ask what I use to clean my house with.  It may be because spring is here, and spring cleaning is looming over everyone’s head.  I must say I’m a clean freak by nature.  Ask my family, they’ll tell you-I can be a little OCD!  Oh well, my house is clean.  The spring cleaning bug has definitely bit me.  I’ve been de-cluttering our place like crazy!  My motto: If it doesn’t serve a purpose, toss it.  Let’s just say I’ve given away loads of “stuff” these past several weeks and it feels so good.

In the spirit of cleaning, I thought I would share with you my top natural cleaning products.  Everything from laundry soap, window cleaner, bleach alternative…well, you get the point.  I’ve compiled this list after over 7 years of testing out natural DIY’s, products and everything in between.  I finally feel my list meets my standards and is worth sharing.  I mean do you know how many laundry soaps I’ve tried in 7 years?!  I think I know every DIY recipe out there.  I literally changed mine every couple of months.

I have a full list of all my favorites when it comes to cleaning.  Below is a list of products you can find from reading this post- it’s chockfull of it all!

What’s Really Lurking In Conventional Cleaning Products?

The sad reality is that we use cleaning products to clean our house but then when we are done they leave behind air pollution and poisons.  These are products people use day in and day out and often don’t think twice about.  The toxic load they put on the body is downright scary.  Not too mention the accumulative affect they have when  used over and over.  I’m sure you’ve experienced initial affects from using conventional cleaning products, such as being light headed, getting a chemical burn or having watery eyes.  However, those are minor in comparison to the long term affects associated with consistent use of conventional cleaning products.  Cancer being one of the major downsides to constant exposure of toxic cleaning products.

Ingredients To Avoid In Cleaning Products:

  • Parabens
  • Triclosan
  • Ammonia
  • Perchloroethylene or “PERC”
  • Phthalates
  • Sodium Hydroxide
  • Chlorine
  • Bleach
  • Phenols
  • Quaternary Ammonium Compounds, or “QUATS”

Parabens- (This includes methyl-, propyl- ethyl-,butyl-) This is an ingredient we see often in beauty products but it’s also found in cleaning products.  It’s a hormone disruptor also known as endocrine disruptor.  Been known to cause reproductive problems too.  Has been found in breast cancer tumors, may cause male infertility and early puberty.

Triclosan- Drying of the skin, skin irritant and has been linked to eczema.  Endocrine disruptor and has been found to have 1, 4 dioxane, again cancer causing. Can be found in laundry detergents, hand soaps, dish soaps- anything that gets super sudsy.  Avoid any soaps that use the word “antibacterial” on them.  They more than likely contain triclosan if they have antibacterial on the label.

Ammonia- Irritation of the eyes, skin and throat. Also can burn the skin when it comes in to contact with it. Excessive exposure may lead to liver and kidney damage. Can be found in bathroom, floor, carpet, glass, upholstery and stain cleaners.

Perchlorethylene of “PERC”- Causes dizziness, headaches, nausea, skin irritations and respiratory issues.  Long term effects are neurological problems, liver and kidney damage and cancer. Found in dry cleaning, wood solvents, cleaning solvents, aerosol products and carpet cleaners.

Phthalates- These are found in products that contain fragrance.  So many cleaning products contain fragrance.  From all purpose cleaners, bathroom cleaners, carpet cleaners, air fresheners, laundry detergent and dryer sheets.  They cause hormone disruption, and reproductive issues in males and females.

Sodium Hydroxide- Found in many solvents and cleaners.  From oven cleaners to drain cleaners. It can cause burning in the eye, throat and skin.

Chlorine- Bad for the lungs, has been linked to thyroid issues, skin irritations, and linked to dementia in the elderly.  Can be found in many disinfectant cleaning products. Chlorine bleach and ammonia are big toxic culprits when it comes to cleaning products.  They should not be mixed together.  If mixed they form chloramine gases which are toxic to the lungs

Bleach- Found in laundry products, toilet cleaners, many whitening cleaning products, and used as a disinfectant too.  Causes skin irritations, respiratory issues, liver and kidney damage.  Cannot be mixed with other cleaning products as it can cause serious chemical reactions.

Phenols- These are found in any cleaner that has the word “sol” in it.  From solvents, to air fresheners, detergents, flame retardants and disinfectants. Can cause liver and kidney damage, as well as skin irritations and central nervous system damage.

Fragrance- Fragrance is also a huge offender when it comes to conventional cleaning products.  Companies try and mask the scent by using artificial fragrance.  Artificial fragrance is a recipe for a toxic chemical cocktail.  Since fragrance is considered a “trade secret by the FDA, companies don’t have to share what’s in their fragrance.  All they have to do is list the word fragrance on a label.  So you have no idea what’s actually in a product when you see the word fragrance.  As mentioned earlier, phthalates are found in fragrance- another toxic offender.

This is an exert taken from The EWG article, “Not So Sexy.”

“The average fragrance product tested contained 14 secret chemicals not listed on the label. Among them are chemicals associated with hormone disruption and allergic reactions, and many substances that have not been assessed for safety in personal care products.”

Half the products now are loaded with so much fragrance to mask their smell that it practically knocks you off your feet!  Artificial fragrance, in my opinion, is one of the worst things-I can smell it a mile away.  Have you ever walked into someone’s house and the first thought was someone must have been cleaning because the scent is so intense?  I know I have.  That’s artificial fragrance at work.

Quaternary Ammonium Compounds, or “QUATS”- These are found in many disinfectant products.  They are meant to kill germs.  A lot of people think these are necessary for everyday use but they aren’t.  Unless you plan on doing something intense like a medical surgery, you don’t need these for everyday use.  They are lung and skin irritants, have shown to cause reproductive problems, and birth defects in mice. These also create superbugs which end up being resistant to other cleaning products and antibiotics.

Something to keep in mind.  The cleaning products are bioaccumulative in nature.  Since these are chemicals we use all the time, they build up over time.  That’s where the real danger comes in as long term affects are not something you want to be dealing with.  Isn’t it odd that the very products we use to clean our houses with end up causing us more harm than good in the long run?  It’s time to swap out the cleaning products and save yourself from toxic chemical exposure.

So I’ve compiled my complete natural cleaning product guide.  I’m sharing what I use and what works when it comes to natural products. Trust me, you won’t even miss your old stuff!

Natural Cleaning Products

Love e-cloth natural microfiber cleaning cloths!

e-cloth-

I wanted to give a brief introduction about e-cloth before I continue sharing their products.  The basis of e-cloth is that it offers a chemical free cleaning experience using only water.  It does this through micro fiber technology, proprietary equipment, and manufacturing techniques.  *Also, with many companies on the market offering similar microfiber cloths and products, learn why I chose e-cloth here.

e-cloth Glass & Polishing Cloth– Kitchen/Windows/Mirrors

This cloth has been another winner from e-cloth.  One side is more grainy and perfect for getting rid of residue, while the other side is smooth for polishing.  Both sides remove 99% of bacteria just using water-I love it!  I just spray some water onto the stainless steel, then use the grainy side to remove any residue(make sure you go in the direction of your grain so you don’t scratch anything).  Then I would use the smooth side to polish.  It did clean my stainless steel well, but it didn’t leave it sparkling like I wanted.  I contacted e-cloth and asked what the solution might be to get the “sparkle” effect.

They recommended the Glass and Polishing Cloth.  So I got that, gave it a try, and bam-my stainless steel sparkled like new!  The best part is it not only works for shining up stainless steel, but also for cleaning windows and mirrors.  I would spray a little water onto my window or mirror and wipe away.  No streaky residue.  Are you hearing me people?!  There was absolutely no chemical used to clean my stainless steel, windows or mirrors!  Let’s just say I struck gold.  I also used the Stainless Steel Cloth to clean my granite counters, and my countertops never shined brighter.  I highly recommend these two products.  They tackle so many cleaning jobs with no chemicals.  Plus, no paper towel was wasted, just wash and re-use!  Get E-Cloth 2 Glass & Polishing Cloth.

Thieves Household Cleaner

I’ve been loving this all purpose cleaner.  I use it for my countertops, floors, bathrooms, dusting- really anything!  I love that it not only gets things shiny but actually is disinfecting them as well.  It makes everything smell fresh and clean too.  You get a bottle of the concentrate and then make your spray.  It has lasted me so long!  I still have half the bottle left and I use it for everything.  I bought the bottle in February and it’s now May.  Check it out here!

FAVES: a DIY natural dish soap, to my favorite dishwasher detergent and silicone scrub brush.

Deep Clean Mop-

I’ve had this mop for over a year and a half and it’s been awesome.  I used to have a Shark steam mop.  It pushes out really hot steam that cleans your floors.  However, I learned that steam can actually get under your wood floors and get moldy.  I then was on the hunt for something else and found the Deep Clean Mop.

This mop uses a microfiber cloth to clean the floors.  It attached to the mop with velcro.  You just get the microfiber cloth wet and then it cleans your floors getting rid of 99% of the bacteria.  It is so easy to use!  I just throw it in the washer after use.  I also will spray some Branch Basics All Purpose Cleaner on the floor as I mop for added benefit.  My floors look clean and feel clean!  Get it here!

Ecover Naturally Derived Automatic Dishwasher Tablets

These really work and are clean!  They are fragrance free which I love and are so easy to use.  Just add one tab to the dishwasher and that’s it.  My dishes come out clean and streak free.  Plus, as I mentioned they’re super clean- chlorine free, dye free, phosphate free.  Made with plant-based mineral ingredients and biodegradable. Get the Ecover Naturally Derived Automatic Dishwasher Tablets!

Natural cleaning products

My favorite natural laundry stain remover and dryer balls instead of fabric sheets.

Simple Dish Soap Recipe from Live Simply Blog

This dish soap recipe is my fave!  It’s so easy to make-literally takes a minute, it’s so effective, and it’s toxin free!  Plus, you’re going to save a ton of money, since you’re not buying it pre-made.  The recipe uses Sal Suds from Dr. Bronner’s and love it.  I also use it for cleaning my floors sometimes when I want a little soap.  For the full dish soap recipe head to Live Simply’s Blog here!

Branch Basics All In One Cleaning Kit-

I can’t recommend Branch Basics enough if you’re looking for an all in one cleaning kit to purchase to swap all your toxic cleaning products over to natural ones.  They make it so easy!  You buy this kit here and then you have one cleaning solution you use to make each bottle of cleaner.  You add water and the solution to make each cleaning solution.  From window cleaner, all purpose cleaner, laundry detergent, bathroom cleaner and even foaming hand soap.  Plus they also have a product called an Oxygen Boost.  This can be used to add a little extra grit to heavily soiled laundry, clean tile and grout, get out stains and add a little grit when cleaning bathrooms.  Once you’ve used up the solution you just order more solution instead of more bottles.  Saving on plastic and waste in the long run.  Check out Branch Basics here!

natural cleaning products

Natural laundry detergent is so important in reducing your overall toxic load.

Laundry Detergent-

A couple thoughts on natural laundry detergent.  I’ve found different water can effect how well a natural laundry detergent works.  Just keep that in mind.  Also, if you’re used to using conventional detergents that have so much fragrance in them it knocks you over, be warned that these will NOT be the same.  Your clothes might not even smell fresh to you for the first few times because you’re used to synthetic fragrances.

Synthetic fragrance is so strong and can mask a multitude of things.  But here’s the thing- it’s completely unnatural and you’re going to have to retrain yourself when it comes to what smells fresh and clean.  So don’t give up!  Give it time.  If you really want some more “smell” to your clothes.  Add some pure essential oil drops to some wools dryer balls and add them to your dryer.  I’m so used to not having synthetic fragrance around that I can smell it a mile away.   Just be aware and don’t throw in the towel.  You may just need to retrain your nose to what real scent is!  Check out my blog post on artificial fragrance and perfume here- it will make you realize you don’t want to be near synthetic fragrance in anyway.

ECOS OXO Brite-

I love using this for getting toilets white and removing stains from tile.  I mix a little with water to form a paste and add it on.  I leave it for a while and then come back and scrub it off.  I also add it to laundry loads to keep things extra fresh.  Works especially great for laundry that is extra soiled.  It’s my new favorite cleaning product!  It’s the natural alternative to Oxi Clean I tell people.  Get it here!

EcoNuts Liquid Laundry Detergent-

This is my newest laundry detergent find!  It uses soap nuts to clean your clothes.  Not related to a nut at all but a berry tree. Instead of leaving it in berry form they make a liquid that’s more concentrated.  I love that it’s in a pump form.  I just pump a few pumps into my washer and I’m good to go.  It gives my clothes a clean, fresh smell- even towels!  Plus, you can get it on Amazon.  Check it out here!

Pure Natural Laundry Detergent-

This one is also great!  My clothes feel clean but don’t feel like they have a build up on them.  My hubs approved too!  Really good at getting rid of odors.  The company even recommends soaking clothes too for tough stains or smells. They also get their cleaning action from the soap berry.  This laundry detergent was actually created by a family that had children that were allergic to conventional detergents.  They created Pure as a solution!  It’s especially great for sensitive skin.  You can even find it on Amazon.  Get it here!

Greenshield Organic Laundry Detergent-

I love how easy this is to use.  It feels like a conventional detergent without all the questionable ingredients.  This also uses soap berries as the cleaning agent.  Great for sensitive skin.  They have a free and clear version, a lavender version, and even a baby version.  My clothes feel clean and fresh.  They also feel soft!  I want to try their other cleaning products too.  Get it here!

Buckaroo Organics Soapberry Suds Organic Laundry Detergent:

I love this detergent!  It really works and is completely natural-what more could you ask for?  I love the whole concept of using soap nuts.  For one they aren’t nuts, but are actually a berry from a tree, how much more natural can you get?!  They’re a sustainable resource and grown organically easily, they’re great for sensitive skin, and hypoallergenic.  Not to mention they’re 100% bio-degradeable, and completely safe for water systems.  If you’re not sold yet, they actually use less water than conventional detergent, are safe for front loading washers, and they cost less per load too.  They’re just a pretty amazing little berry!!  How does it actually clean your clothes?  It takes the saponin contained in the husk of the natural berry, and uses that to wash and get rid of dirt.  Yes, even my husband’s stinky workout clothes smell good!  My clothes smell fresh, not artificial and they are clean.  I’m addicted to this stuff and almost out- it really is some good stuff. Buy it here!

Thieves Laundry Detergent-

I’ve fallen hard for this laundry detergent!  It works so well.  I had my eye on it for a while and kept putting it off because of the price tag.  It retails for around $40 for 32 oz.  I knew that wouldn’t last me long.  But then my friend filled me in on a secret.  You actually dilute the formula into three 32 oz containers!  Which had me sold.  I can’t recommend this enough if you’ve been searching for a natural laundry detergent that gets your clothes smelling fresh and clean.  It gets all the grubby clothes, plus my hubs workout clothes smelling so good.  They use enzymes and the power of Thieves essential oil to clean the clothes.  Get it here! Also, I am not a sales rep for them but my friend Steph Duford is.  She introduced me to Young Living and so if you do buy it, please buy it from her!  Her # is 22470440.  Thank you!

Molly Sud’s-

I like Molly’s Suds but sometimes after a couple months I feel like I need to switch up my laundry detergent and use something else.  It feels like my clothes or towels are getting a residue.  It could just be me and the water where I live.  But just wanted to be honest about my thoughts.  I do think they’re great!  Nice to have a powder option especially for travel.  They even have a liquid now too!  I haven’t tried it but will update when I have.  Check it out here!

Molly Sud’s Oxygen Whitener-

I really love their Whitener!  It works well.  The key is to leave your items to soak for a bit.  The longer you can leave them soaking in the whitener the better from my experience.  This has removed yellow stains from white shirts in the underarm area.  It also has removed skincare stains from my white pillow case and freshened my white sheets.  Get it!  Check it out here!

Puracy Laundry Stain Remover-

This is hands down the best stain remover I’ve ever found!  It works so well.  At the end of the day my kid’s clothes can look pretty gnarly.  This keeps them in tip top shape.  I spray it on, let it sit for an hour and then use some water to scrub and get the stain out.  As good as new!  If you don’t want to wait for the stain remover to set in, no problem.  I’ve often just sprayed it on and rubbed it in the stain.  It takes a little more elbow grease sometimes but comes out!  I’ve also used this on my carpet and it works great too.

I’ve had people ask me about the ingredients before because EWG doesn’t rate it as good.  Remember EWG is a computer system and can’t take into consideration all of the things.  This is something they missed.  Read it here.  Get the stain remover on Amazon here!

Wool Dryer Balls-

Say goodbye to fabric softener and fabric sheets.  Literally one of the worst things you can use in your house!  Filled with toxic chemicals that lead to depression, central nervous system disorder, headaches, dizziness and vomiting.  Check out Dr. Axe’s full article here on the dangers of fabric sheets and fabric softeners.  If you want your clothes to be static free and have a fresh smell, add some wool dryer balls to your dryer.  Add a few drops off essential oil to each wool dryer ball.  I like Branch Basics Wool Dryer Balls here!

Natural Scour Pads-

Scrub brushes and scour pads can really load up on germs quick.  Most people don’t change out their scrub brush or pad.  The germs and bacteria can build up over time, even parasites.  My friend Steph from @stephdufordlifestyle shared with me a tip that she does and I’ve been hooked ever since!  You buy a large pack of natural scour pads.  Then cut them up into 6 or 8 squares each.  Then just use one new square for each day and throw away the old one at the end of the day.  Then it’s not harboring bacteria but you’re also not going through a sponge a day.

She uses a new one for each meal even.  She has multiple allergies in her house so this is not only for sanitation but also safety purposes.  I don’t have any family allergies so I just use one square per day.  I get these Scotch Brite Natural Scour pads.  I buy them in a package from Amazon.  The scour pads are made from 50% agave plant and packaging is 100% recycled. I used to buy the Twist scour pads but I can’t seem to find them in bulk anymore.  So I’ve resorted to the Scotch Brite Natural Scour pads for now since they come in a pack of 12.  I don’t have to buy them for several months after. Get them here!

Favorite Hand Soap: Kosmatology Foaming Hand Soap

I LOVE this hand soap!  Best organic, natural hand soap I’ve tried…hands down.  I’ve struggled with finding a hand soap.  It either wasn’t pure, or didn’t foam.  This baby does it all, and has the best ingredients.  Not to mention, it doesn’t dry out my hands!  Everyone needs this in your kitchen and bathroom…trust me.  They have them in several scents-they all smell good!   Buy it here!

natural cleaning products

Branch Basics makes it so easy to swap out your conventional products for natural ones.

Tips:

I’ve also picked up a few other natural cleaning product tips and some DIY’s if that’s our thing!

  • Cleaning Microfiber Cloths I get a separate set of microfiber cloths from Amazon in a pack of 12 or 15 just for cleaning the bathrooms and dusting. I get a different color so I have a set for the kitchen and for bathrooms.  Helps keep things more streamlined and then I’m not using the bathroom cloths for the kitchen.  Check out the cloths I get here!
  • Bleach alternative- I found this recipe on the blog Live Simply.  Check out Kristin’s blog-it’s awesome!  She has so many great DIY recipes and they actually work.  This one is gold!  You just mix hydrogen peroxide, washing soda and hot water.  I can’t take any credit for it though.  I’ve just used it for everything and I’m here to say it works.  I typically soak my stuff overnight, not that you need too,  I just forget I’m soaking things sometimes…opps!  I’ve found it works best for things when done right away.  Don’t wait a month, and then decide you want to whiten something…know what  I mean?  I had these white tea towels that hadn’t ever been whitened, needless to say they were in bad shape.  However, they did turn out pretty white with a good soaking…but just get on the soaking asap just for good measure.
  • Use the same towels for cleaning each time so there is no need for paper towels.  I don’t buy paper towels. However, sometimes there are seasons where my hubs pleads with me to buy some.  Usually it’s when we have a baby.  Sometimes convenience wins out.  I buy Seventh Generation’s recycled paper towels and only allow 1 roll per week.  We actually make it longer than a week most of the time.  Typically we use these reusable microfiber cloths from Amazon here!  Really good deal for a pack of them.
  • Here’s a recipe for liquid dish soap I like from the blog Mommypotamus, she really knows her stuff and this one is tried and true, and not full of the nasties.
  • Here’s a recipe for dishwasher detergent from the blog Pins and Procrastinations.  I’ve tried a ton of these recipes, and this one has seemed to work the best as far a DIY version.

Ok, that’s a wrap for my natural cleaning product faves!  I want to hear from you guys!  What do you use?  Leave me a comment!

Sharing my natural and organic hair routine with you in my recent video!  Everything from what products I use in natural beauty, to how I curl my hair- it’s all in my newest video.  I get asked all the time about what hair styling products I use, how I curl my hair, what I use before and after I curl, so I thought I would put it all in a video so you can see how I do it.  I hope it helps you when deciding what natural hair products to buy and use to create your desired hair style.  It can be hard to find products that work and fit your specific hair type but all the products I mention in the video are tried and true and really do perform so well!  Plus, some of them are great for the whole family.

I also wanted to share what type of hair I have.  My hair type is fine and thin.  I’m all about adding body to my hair!  Give me the volume.  I also don’t like products that add a lot of weight to my hair.  I want something that will be weightless and provide lasting volume.

Beauty Heroes: Bathing Culture

Natural Beauty Box Roundup

Never was there a more perfect time for us to consider the importance of bathing!

This is my first time seeing and experiencing Bathing Culture as a brand.  It was founded by two city dwellers who loved going outdoors to explore and get adrenaline highs.  Tim Hollinger and Spencer Arnold wanted to create a business that would both be clean and environmentally friendly.  They did just that!  As they delved into the beauty industry- specifically body wash, they were struck with how toxic it actually was.  They realized they had their work cut out for them and created a gender neutral, regional organic, Rainforest Alliance, personal care products that truly performed.  Oh and did I mention the formulas are housed in biodegradable and reusable bottles?  They really go to the extra milel to create clean products that are both sustainable and truly clean.  They have gone so far as even opening up 50 refill locations and planted a tree for every 5 gallons sold- talk about next level!

Mind and Body Wash- This month’s heroic product is not just any body wash.  It has organic ingredients that not only cleanse your skin but add hydration with shea butter.  The scent is a blend of balsam, vetiver, ylang ylang, ho wood, and frankincense.  It comes housed in a glass bottle and pump.  (I did want to note on the pump due to the COVID pandemic, the founders have had manufacturing issues supplying the pump.  They have worked tirelessly to try and source more, however, it has been hard to find replacements.  Boxes will be delayed as a result, unless you don’t mind not having a pump and just having a screw top).

Outer Being Face & Body Oil- Inspired by their outdoor adventures, the founders created this face and body oil.  A perfect oil to use all over your body.  Filled with raspberry seed oil, sea buckthorn, and marula seed oil to name a few, this oil truly hydrates the skin.  This helps to continue your bathing ritual after you use the Mind and Body Wash.  It helps to lock in the moisture and keep your skin feeling soft and supple.  A skin treat for sure!

Golden Hour Hydrosol- This hydrosol is filled with Bulgarian Rose Oil, Moroccan Rose Oil, Turkish Rose Oil and hand harvested Moroccan Neroli Flower Oil.  It will take you back to the scent of flowers and the memories they hold.  This is perfect for post sun skin, in the morning to awaken your senses, and as an all over body mist.  It has such an uplifting scent that isn’t over powering.

This box is valued at $127 but you can get it for $58.95!  Get it here!

Detox Box: One Love Organics

Natural Beauty Box Roundup

This month’s Detox Box is showing up with One Love Organics!

The Detox box for May is all about One Love Organics.  We are seeing their popular Enzyme Cleansing Oil, Vitamin C Facial Serum, and their Botanical A Facial Cleanser.  This brand has been around since the beginning of clean beauty!  They know skincare.

Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil- This cleanser is full of vitamin B complex.  I love how it’s an oil but then when you add water it slightly emulsifies and the formula turns into a milky consistency.  It not only removes my makeup, but everything else too.  My skin is left feeling smooth and hydrated, not stripped at all.  It smells like a tropical paradise with hints of coconut.

Vitamin C Facial Serum- This facial serum it packed with vitamin C and also includes rosehip, baobab, and jojoba oil that transforms dull/lackluster skin into radiant/glowing skin.  I apply it to clean skin that’s still slightly damp.  You can use it in the morning or at night.  I love how rich the oil feels on my skin.  It really feels so nourishing.

Botanical A Facial Cleanser- This facial cleanser contains AHAs, BHAs and wintergreen extract.  It lathers up and helps to cleanse your skin even more.  I start with the Botanical B Enzyme Cleansing Oil and then I follow with this.  It really is the perfect cleanser to really achieve that deep clean feeling.  My skin feels so clean!

You can get all of this- $156 value for $55!  Such a good deal.  I would hop on it now before it sells out!  Get the box here.

Best Natural Beauty Concealers

Best Natural Beauty Concealers

Ok, you asked for this best natural beauty concealers post!  I’ve been working on this post for a while, excited to finally share.  I get this question several times a week.

What are the best natural beauty concealers?

I get it, I once was there too.  The thing is everyone looks for different things in their concealer.  Some want an under eye concealer and some want to hide imperfections.

And yes, under eye concealers are a lot different than a concealer you want to use to cover your zit- just sayin’.  I mean you can use a lot of under eye concealers on your face too but you probably don’t want to use a lot of your heavy concealers under your eyes.

So I’m outlining my absolute favorites in natural beauty.  What they’re best at when concealing and how I use them.

Consider yourself checked into concealer school!  Let’s dive into the best natural beauty concealers.

Concealer Tips:

  • You can use most concealers as an eye primer too!  Just apply this on top of your eyelid before eye shadow.  It helps to make your eyeshadow pop, plus gives your eyeshadow something to adhere to so it stands out.
  • Use a concealer to highlight your face.  Apply concealer where you would naturally use a highlighter.
  • Use on the inner corners of your eyes to make them appear brighter and pop.  Also, helps to make them look less tired.
  • If you’re goal is to cover under eye dark circles then make an upside down triangle under your eye area with your concealer.  This will help brighten your whole face.
  • Always apply your foundation first, then your concealer.
  • Highlight under your brows with concealer.  This helps bring your eye area up- it’s an instant eye lift!
  • Orange or pink concealer cancels out dark circles.
  • If using your finger to apply concealer, use your ring finger which has the least amount of muscles.
  • Green concealer is for blemishes and red spots.
  • Yellow concealer is for evening out skin tone.
  • If you’re concealer tends to look cakey, blot with a tissue under the eye area to soak up excess oil.
  • Apply a translucent powder after you apply under eye concealer to help set it and take away oil.  This also helps your eye area to look more awake and not tired or drab.
  • If you mess up on your eyeliner, use some concealer to hide mistakes.
  • Use concealer to help prevent bleeding lipstick.
  • Use concealer to help cancel out redness before applying a lipstick.  This helps you to achieve the true lipstick color.
  • Want to create you’re own tinted moisturizer?  Mix your concealer with some lotion and rub together!
  • Your concealer for your under eye area should be one shade lighter than your foundation.  But not too light where it looks drastically different.

I also recorded a video on how to achieve flawless concealer.  I show you how I apply mine and what I do to avoid creasing and make it last all day. Check out the video here!

Different Types Of Concealers:

There are different types of concealers and of course they are meant for different things.  I’m going to share all the different formulas in hopes that it will help guide you on which one to get.

  • Pencil Concealer- Helps to conceal blemishes, and good for on the go since it’s solid and less mess. Also, good for highlighting the face. Pencils offer a thicker consistency.  They are similar to a cream concealer but in pencil form.
  • Cream Concealer- The consistency of a cream concealer is thicker, gives more of a matte finish and is good for helping to conceal blemishes, tattoos and deep pigmentation.
  • Liquid Concealer- This type is great for under the eye area and for blending into the skin. Great for evening skin tone.
  • Pen Concealer With Brush Tip- This is more of a sheer formula and great for under the eye area.

Concealers For Skin Type:

Not all concealers work for every skin type.  I’m going to outline below which I would recommend depending on age, and skin type.

  • Dry Skin- I have dry skin and definitely lean towards a liquid concealer because of the dewiness it adds and the hydration.  It doesn’t look cakey or heavy on my skin like a more opaque formula.  That being said I do prefer a little more opaqueness and creamy texture for covering hyperpigmentation. My favorites for dry skin are, Kosas Revealer, Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer, Fitglow  Conceal + for hyperpigmentation and blemishes, and Clove and Hallow Concealer.  RMS Beauty would be great too.
  • Combination Skin- Your skin might feel pretty normal overall but at times get a little oily in the t-zone. That being considered, I would recommend Fitglow Conceal +, Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer, Clove and Hallow Concealer, and Hynt Beauty Concealer.  I think the Kosas Revealer would work too, but you would probably want to set it with a translucent powder to cut down any shine.
  • Oily Skin- If you have oily skin I would recommend Ilia’s True Skin Serum Concealer.  It has really low, if any comedogenic ingredients for most people and still dries to a demi-matte so it’s not adding a ton of shine.  I also like Hynt Beauty, since it dries to a matte texture as well.  Fitglow Conceal + is also a great option since it dries to a matte finish.
  • Mature Skin- If you have mature skin I would recommend first to make sure you use a moisturizer under the eye area.  You don’t want it to be dry.  Also, choose a concealer that is hydrating and lightweight.  If you choose to heavy of a concealer you’re going to get a crepey/cakey look.  Which is only going to accentuate the fine lines.  I really like W3ll People’s Concealer super hydrating and not too heavy.  I also would recommend RMS Beauty Un Coverup– this turns very creamy as you work with it on your fingers, very dewy looking. Beautycounter’s Concealer is another great one for under the eye area.  I also would recommend Kosas Revealer, since it’s going to add brightness and give hydration.  Last tip, use a primer under the eye area too.  This is going to fill in any fine lines and really help keep your concealer from moving around and getting into the fine lines.  Make sure you set your foundation with a translucent powder.  Finally don’t cake on your products and don’t apply a lot of concealer near crow’s feet.  Most people don’t have discoloration there, and the concealer tends to get into the fine lines easier there.  Stick to applying concealer where you have the bulk of your discoloration which is closer to your eye area. Less is more as you age.

Ok, I’m not going to make you wait any longer- here are the best natural beauty concealers!

Best Natural Beauty Concealers:

natural beauty concealers

Fitglow Concealer is one of my holy grails in clean beauty!

Fitglow Beauty Conceal +-

Concealer Type- Fitglow is a liquid concealer but I would also say it’s more of a cream consistency too since it feels a little thicker.  A little of both.

Packaging- It comes in a tube form with a wand.

Formula- The formula is more of a heavier formula for a wand concealer but not as heavy as a cream concealer.  It doesn’t feel as wet as some wand concealers are. It dries quickly which I love.  Making it really great for hyperpigmentation and covering redness.

How Does It Wear- The longevity of this concealer is excellent.  It really lasts the whole day for me, especially when set with a translucent power or mineral powder.

What Is It Good For- This concealer is great for covering blemishes and redness.  It really does such a good job of staying in place and not moving.  It’s especially good for covering blemishes, redness or hyperpigmentation.  I use this on my cheeks for hyperpigmentation, and under my nose for redness.  I also like it for highlighting the face too.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- This concealer could be a comedogenic concealer for some since it contains the ingredient beeswax.  Beeswax basically blocks off all oxygen to your pores so your skin can’t breathe.  Some people might be fine with it but others may find it to cause acne flare ups.

Shades- Comes in 9 shades.  I wear the color 3.5.

Review- This is my go to concealer for my cheeks and covering blemishes and hyperpigmentation.  I always reach for it first because it does such a stellar job and lasts. Definitely one of the best natural beauty concealers.  It’s so easy to blend into the skin. I don’t like it as much for under eyes, it’s too thick for me and ends up looking cakey. Get it here!

natural beauty concealers

RMS Beauty Un CoverUp has been a staple in my beauty bag for 10 years!

RMS Beauty Concealer-

Concealer Type- This is a cream concealer.

Packaging- It comes in a frosted glass jar.

Formula- The formula is lightweight in that it doesn’t feel heavy on the skin, yet it is thick enough to provide some awesome coverage when it comes to covering hyperpigmentation and blemishes.  It warms up in your hand and skin as you apply it.

How Does It Wear- It wears well.  It doesn’t look as good by the end of the day, but I think that’s what makes this kind of beautiful too.  It’s more of that worn in, effortless look.  I will still look like I have some great coverage but it’s going to have faded a little.  Very natural look overall.

What Is It Good For- This concealer is great for covering redness or hyperpigmentation.  It really offers great coverage but doesn’t look cakey or matte.  Very dewy skin look overall.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- This is definitely not non-comedogenic.  It has coconut oil as the base, which is a very high comedogenic rating. I would steer clear of this if you find your pores get easily clogged or you have acne.

Shades- Comes in 16 shades.  I wear the color 22.

Vegan- No

Review- This was the first natural beauty concealer I used 10 years ago.  It’s been a long favorite of mine.  It melts so easily into the skin, which I love giving you such a natural look, yet it still offers some coverage.  It feels very smooth and a bit oily.  Not bad oily but it is made of coconut oil so it does get a little oily feeling as you work with it in your hands.  This is great under eyes too, as it looks smooth and seamless.  I would just be sure to set it with a translucent powder as well.  This is really like a foundation, concealer in one.  Often I’ll just wear this and not wear any foundation.  I just apply starting in my t-zone area and then blend out for a really natural look.  It makes my skin feel pulled together but not overdone.  Get it here!

I’ve fallen hard for Clove and Hallow’s Concealer!

Clove and Hallow Concealer-

Concealer Type- This is a liquid concealer.

Packaging- It comes in a wand form.

Formula- The formula is creamy and dewy feeling.  It reminds me of Fitglow’s Concealer but it’s not as thick, a little wetter formula.  But then once you apply it to your skin is dries matte.

How Does It Wear- The concealer lasts all day and really looks great after a day’s wear.

What Is It Good For- This is great for covering blemishes, hyperpigmentation, and redness.  I like how it offers good coverage but isn’t too heavy.  I do like it under the eyes as well.  It’s creamy enough that it doesn’t look cakey under the eye area.  It’s great for building coverage too.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- This is definitely not non-comedogenic.  It has coconut oil, which is a very high comedogenic rating. I would steer clear of this if you find your pores get easily clogged or you have acne.

Shades- Comes in 10 shades.  I wear the color 03.

Vegan- It is vegan.

Review- This concealer really performs so well!  I find myself reaching for it among all my concealers because it’s so versatile and can be used under the eyes and for redness and hyperpigmentation.  It really lasts too.  The only thing I don’t love about it is the packaging.  For some reason some of the product will come out of the top each time I use it.  When you put the wand back in the tube, it’s almost like it pushes the product down and then when you take it out, more product comes with it.  That would be my only drawback.  Other than that I really love this concealer!  Get it here!

natural beauty concealers

Beautycounter Concealer-

This is a new fave for under the eyes!  I don’t like it for covering blemishes or redness on the face, it’s too wet of a formula.  But it works great for under the eye area because it is a little wetter of a formula.  I can blend it in really well and it covers dark circles and discoloration under the eyes.  It comes in a pen/brush formula.  You push the cap on the bottom and the formula comes out easily on this paint brush like applicator.  You then apply that to the eye area and pat the formula in with your fingers.  It brightens up your eye but doesn’t look cakey!  I also dust a little translucent powder on top of the concealer to help set it.  Get it here!

Concealer Type- This is a pen concealer with brush tip.

Packaging- It comes in a wand form, with a click applicator.

Formula- The formula is lightweight and creamy.  A little on the wet side.

How Does It Wear- It lasts well, but I do find it looks a little worn by the end of the day.

What Is It Good For- This is the perfect under eye concealer.  It really offers some light coverage for under the eyes and a little dewiness. It’s too light for covering blemishes.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- It’s not comedogenic. It has coconut oil in it.

Shades- Comes in 6 shades.  I wear the color light.

Vegan- It is vegan.

Review- I really love using this concealer for under my eyes.  It’s lightweight so it doesn’t look cakey or too heavy.  It blends really well into the skin and adds some brightness too.  I also like how it feels a little dewy.  I don’t use this for covering blemishes or anything else.  It’s too sheer, but I really do love it for a great under eye concealer.  Get it here!

Natural beauty concealers

Hynt Beauty Concealer-

Concealer Type- This is a cream concealer.

Packaging- It comes in a glass jar.

Formula- The formula is solid in the jar but when you touch it the product instantly melts onto your fingers making it easy to spread and use. It is opaque more, even though it does feel lightweight.

How Does It Wear- The concealer lasts all day and really looks great after a day’s wear

What Is It Good For- This is great for covering blemishes, hyperpigmentation, and redness.  I like how it offers good coverage but isn’t too heavy.  I don’t like it under the eyes.  I find it looks a little cakey and heavy.  This is the best concealer for really getting some good coverage on the blemishes.  You can really build the coverage as you go.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- This is definitely not non-comedogenic.  It has coconut oil, which is a very high comedogenic rating.

Shades- Comes in 7 shades.  I wear the color medium.

Vegan- It is vegan.

Review- This concealer really is the holy grail when it comes to coverage.  If theres something you want to cover it does a good job.  You can even apply it, let it dry for 5 minutes, then go back and reapply the product for even more coverage.  I’ve even read where people use it to cover tattoos!  Get it here!

natural beauty concealers

This is a great under eye concealer.

W3ll People-

Concealer Type- This is a liquid concealer.

Packaging- It comes in a small tube that you squirt out.

Formula- The formula is very dewy and slightly whipped texture to it.  Even though it feels dewy it does set in the skin well.

How Does It Wear- It’s not as long as others.  By the end of the day I can see some has worn off but it still looks nice.  I notice if I set it, it really helps give it some longevity since it’s lightweight and tends to fade a little.

What Is It Good For- I really love this concealer for under the eyes but not for blemishes or redness. It has a texture that really brightens the under eye area and doesn’t feel heavy.  I find it’s a little to sheer to offer the coverage I want.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- It has coconut oil in it.  It has coconut oil, which is a very high comedogenic rating.

Shades- Comes in 6 shades.  I wear the color 2.

Vegan- It is not vegan.

Review- Overall, this is a great under eye concealer as I’ve mentioned.  I just squirt the formula out and then use my fingers to tap under my eyes.  It helps to even out discoloration under the eye area and perk up tired eyes.  Of course I add a little translucent powder to the under eye area too to set it.  You don’t have too but I find I’ll get creasing if I don’t.  The only thing I don’t love about it, is it tends to separate sometimes I’ve noticed in the tube.  So you get a little oil coming out separate from the pigment. But other than that it’s a great under eye concealer.  Get it here!

Natural beauty concealers

One of my favorite all around natural beauty concealers!

Ilia True Skin Serum Concealer

Concealer Type- This is a liquid concealer.

Packaging- It comes in liquid form.

Formula- The formula feels creamy to the touch, and silky smooth.  Blends really nice in the skin.

How Does It Wear- Great!  It looks so good on the skin even at night.  Really impressed with the longevity.

What Is It Good For- I love this concealer for everything!  It does well underneath my eyes, and covering redness and hyperpigmentation.  It’s the perfect all around medium coverage concealer.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- It is low in comedogenic ingredients.  I would recommend it for those who might be sensitive to comedogenic ingredients.  Do a patch test first to see how your skin reacts.

Shades- Comes in 12 shades.  I wear the color SC3.

Vegan- It is vegan.

Review- I really dig this concealer!  It hits all the marks for me.  It’s lightweight feeling, yet still offers the coverage I crave in a concealer and I love that it works for both my under eye area and hyperpigmentation and redness.  It blends so nicely into the skin and doesn’t feel heavy. Get it here!

natural beauty concealers

This concealer is great for quickly highlighting the face.

PYT Pencil Concealer

Concealer Type- This is a pencil concealer.

Packaging- It comes in a pencil form that needs to be turned when the tip gets dull. It also has a brush on the end for helping to blend the formula.

Formula- The formula feels more opaque and matte.

How Does It Wear- It’s ok on wear.  I felt like it faded quickly and wasn’t as natural looking as I had hoped it would be.

What Is It Good For- This is a great concealer for highlighting the face because of it’s pencil application.  It also is good for blemishes as you can apply it right on them.  I don’t like it for under the eyes as it’s too opaque and not dewy enough.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- It does have comedogenic ingredients in it.

Shades- Comes in 11 shades.  I wear the color light/warm.

Vegan- It is not vegan

Review- I wouldn’t pick this concealer up regularly.  I can see where it would be good for highlighting and contouring since it’s a pencil and easy to quickly blend it.  Also, if you have minimal hyperpigmentation, it would work to conceal.  However, I wouldn’t use this under the eye area.  Get it here!

natural beauty concealers

This new Kosas Revealer concealer takes the cake for brightening and great coverage.

Kosas Revealer Concealer

Concealer Type- This is a liquid concealer.

Packaging- It comes in a tube with a wand.

Formula- The formula feels creamy to the touch, and silky smooth.  Blends really nice in the skin.

How Does It Wear- It wears so well.  My eyes still seemed bright and my hyperpigmentation was still covered.

What Is It Good For- This is great for covering blemishes and redness, plus it’s dewy enough for covering my under eye area.

Comedogenic/Non-Comedogenic- It does have comedogenic ingredients in it.

Shades- Comes in 16 shades.  I wear the color 3.5.

Vegan- It is not vegan.

Review- This concealer gives you an overall brightness to your whole look.  I love that it has caffeine to help de-puff the under eye area and hyaluronic acid to add hydration.  I feel that they really thought through this product when bringing it to market it and nailed it. I keep reaching for this!  I’m excited to add it to the best natural beauty concealers!  Get it here!
