I came across Kosmatologylast spring when I tried their “Mint Your Feet” Foot Scrub, and “Mint Your Feet” Soothing Foot Balm. Let’s just say they definitely did not disappoint! If you’re looking for a good foot scrub that will leave your feet feeling tingly and wonderful, then this is it. Their balm is the perfect moisturizer post scrub. Anyways, after trying those products I knew I was in for a treat when I was sent some more goodies from them.
Kosmatology’s founder is Janis, a pharmacist who had a daughter with eczema. As a pharmacist, she knew the steroid cream prescribed for her daughter had side effects, and she wasn’t comfortable living with that. As a result, she started experimenting with different oil combinations, and it wasn’t long before people were asking her to make products for their families. How cool is that?! One thing I love about Kosmatology is their commitment to organic, pure ingredients. There’s no fluff or toxins in these products. Also, there is something for the whole family. From bug repellant, to hand sanitizer, even face wash, they are your one stop shop. They make healthy products, that you won’t have to think twice about. They’re also affordable organic skincare, and body care, something that can be hard to find.
I was sent the Rose Geranium Face Wash, the Rose Geranium Face Moisturizer, Grapefruit Lotion Bar, the Orange Sweetness Foaming Hand Soap, and the Herbal Fresh Hand Sanitizer.
This face wash comes in an easy to use pump. It’s a foaming cleanser, so you’re skin feels really clean after using it. It’s not super drying like some foaming cleansers. The first several ingredients are oils, which help to bring moisture to the skin. It has organic ingredients that you can pronounce and understand…can someone say YES! The rose geranium is a pleasant smell, and doesn’t overwhelm you. I was also super impressed with the size of the face wash. It comes in a hefty 6oz. bottle! The perfect face wash to get the grime off at the end of the day and not sacrifice quality. They have it in Lemongrass as well. $22.49
This is another hefty product size, it will take you a while to get through this-such a good value! This smells again like the Rose Geranium Face Wash. I used this two ways and liked them both. The first was for cleansing. I’ve been a long devotee of double cleansing. With double cleansing you always start with an oil, and then use more of creamy/foaming cleanser after. This Rose Geranium Oil is the perfect oil to remove makeup and grime from the day. I then used a warm towel to wipe off the oil. After, that I used the Rose Geranium Face Wash. My skin felt balanced and clean. The second way I used it was as a facial moisturizer, post toning. It kept my skin feeling hydrated and soothed. It would leave a slight oily feeling on my skin initially but within 15 minutes it was gone. A great moisturizing serum, packed full of goodness, and of course all organic, and available in Lemongrass as well. $24.99
The lotion bar is what started Kosmatology, and has helped so many customers with eczema. If you or someone you know has struggled with eczema, this may be your ticket. This lotion bar is just like a deodorant, making application so easy. You just glide it over any area that needs more moisture. It’s not a thick body butter, but more of a balm texture. It does leave my skin feeling oily, which I don’t love for day use. However, at night this was perfect. I would apply it on my hands before bed, and wake up with soft hands. I also used this on my body as a moisturizer, and my skin felt oily as well. I would use it only if I was going to bed to avoid the oily feeling. Haha, I know I’m weird! I loved the grapefruit smell, so refreshing and light. They do have other scents if you’re not keen on grapefruit. $10.49
I LOVE this hand soap! Best organic, natural hand soap I’ve tried…hands down. I have struggled with finding a hand soap. It either wasn’t pure, squirted out weird or didn’t foam. This baby does it all, and has the best ingredients. Not to mention, it doesn’t dry out my hands at all! The orange smell is the perfect fresh scent. Everyone needs this in your kitchen and bathroom…trust me. They have them in several other scents as well. Of course I want to try them all! $8.99
This hand sanitizer is another amazing product Kosmatology offers. I love a good hand sanitizer. Especially when they’re organic and full of pure ingredients. I’m also a fan of spray hand sanitizers, probably because I have a one year old. It makes disinfecting little hands on the go so easy. The smell is really mild and refreshing. I really liked the size of the pump as well. It pumped so easy compared to other hand sanitizers. May sound picky, but everything helps when you have 2 seconds before your kid moves! They have these in several other scents. Moms, you need these. $3.99
Well, that sums up my review of Kosmatology. I have loved sampling their products. It is so refreshing to know companies are really stepping up to the plate, and creating products for the whole family that are not only pure, but effective! Also, Kosmatologyis offering an amazing coupon code right now! Just enter GURL20 and receive 20% off your order. Coupon good through 12/31/15. These are great stocking stuffer gifts too! Have you tried any Kosmatology products??
WhenGlowing Beets contacted me about reviewing their beauty box, I was pretty excited! What is a beauty box? It’s carefully selected beauty products ranging from skin care, makeup, hair products, nail products and so on…you get the picture. You get this goodie box monthly, and best of all with a Glowing Beets Beauty Box, all the products are clean and green! So you don’t have to worry about getting a side of toxins with any product.
Why Glowing Beets? Well, for starters they include high quality indie brands and they make it so simple. Their website alone is so easy to navigate and browse. They have one box, it’s $29.95-a steal for high end green beauty products. The boxes are all the same, but may vary slightly. For ex. some boxes may get a different lipstick color, but they’re all from the same brand. All boxes are shipped at the end of the month once you’re a subscriber, and if you order during the month it will be shipped out within a few days, up until the 15th of the month. You can sign up for one box, otherwise you will be billed monthly.
I love the concept of Glowing Beets for those who are new to the green beauty scene. They give you a good selection of products, so you’re able to test them out without making a big commitment at first. They also offer special discounts to those brands if you do like them-how cool is that?! Glowing Beets does the research for the best product so you don’t have too. They include a card in each box that lists what the products are. I have received two boxes from them and I’ve loved each of them!
The October box is the one I’ll be reviewing today and it’s a good one.
I had never heard of this brand before getting their shea butter in my Glowing Beets Box-but I am huge fan now. I scoured their website too and they offer everything from baby and mama care, to face care and body care. I was so impressed with their sourcing. Shea Terra Organics sources the most potent, organic and wild harvested ingredients from across Africa. This pristine environment, little tainted by modern pollution, grows some of the safest, unchanged botanical ingredients on earth. Unwilling to compromise, Shea Terra Organics uses whole herbs for its potent, synergistic benefits. This shea butter smells like the tropics-a perfect blend of lime and coconut. It melts right into your skin and leaves behind no greasy residue. It’s pack full of all the good stuff too! Aloe vera, pumpkin seed oil, shea butter and essential oils. The 10z. jar is the perfect size to take on a trip too. You guys need to check out their stuff! They also have so many other tantalizing scents available. $6
This lip gloss smells so insanely good! The peppermint oil in it is so soothing and refreshing. I received the color Sweet Plum. It’s a great nude color with a hint of plum. You can put it on thick or just add a touch over your favorite lipstick. The ingredients are top notch and so minimal. I had never heard of Sally B’s before Glowing Beets either. The gloss itself is gluten free, non-gmo, and so hydrating! It’s also isn’t goopy either likes some glosses. It provides the perfect pop of shine and color. They also carry skin care products, body products and even offer facials if you’re in the Atlanta, Georgia area. Check out more of their gloss colors online. $18
Ohh…sort of in love with this product! It smells like Hawaii in a nutshell-no joke. It’s pure coconut goodness. It’s meant to give you texture and enhance waves. For those with curly hair, it enhances what you already have and for those with straight hair it brings some wave and texture to your hair. I would curl my hair then spray this on and loosely scrunch my hair. My hair would smell like a dream the whole day, and then the next day all I would have to do is spray a few squirts all over, scrunch and voila…instant beachy/tousled hair. You all need this. I love that this comes in a travel size too. I’ve been eyeing so many of Herbivore’s products. They offer everything from hair, skin, body, and even stuff for the man in your life. They also have the sea salt spray in lavender if coconut isn’t your thing. Check them out! $12
This cleanser has so many uses. From makeup remover to exfoliant-even a brightening mask. It has a hint of strawberry to the scent. What I love about this cleanser is I can literally use it to remove all my makeup-yes even eye makeup, and there is no stinging! It doesn’t leave your skin feeling dry, unlike many gel cleansers. I really feel this cleanser is named appropriately…it really does brighten my skin. Especially after using it as a mask. It does contain gluten…in case you you are allergic or try, and avoid it in skin care products. It does contain Phenoxyethanol-which is used as a preservative in cosmetics, however much reseaerch has been done on the effects of Phenoxyethanol on animals and they have concluded that it can cause neurotoxin damage and can be an irritant or allergen to some. I did call Indie Lee and spoke with one of the co-owners who was very pleasant and willing to answer any of my questions about their products. She did say that the percentage in the cleanser is .5% or less, and the phenoxyethanol that they use is from green tea extract and is not synthetic. As in all ingredients labels, the first ingredients are the ones most contained in a product, as the ingredients toward the bottom are the ones least contained. So it is a small amount and and it’s a cleanser, so in essence you are only having it on your skin for a short period before washing it off. I think in the grand scheme of things this is not a huge deal when it comes to other ingredients. However, I probably would not re-purchase just for the fact I would be using a lot of it over time. This is just my opinion. $32
This is a facial oil from Indie Lee as well. It contains Squalene Oil, which can be derived from several sources. One is Shark liver, the other is synthetically or from vegetable sources. I was so excited to hear that Indie Lee sources their squalene from the olives from Spain-how cool is that? This oil feels so good on you skin. One of the reasons I believe it feels so natural is because our skin naturally produces squalene oil. It helps protect from environmental toxins and helps to keep moisture levels intact. I loved putting this on at night and waking up with soft skin. My skin just drank it up. Oh and did I mention the only ingredient in this oil is Squalene?? That’s it! One more reason you guys need to snag this up. $32
This toner has the coveted antioxidant Co-Q10, known for it’s anti-aging properties. It’s a hydrating toner and helps to prep your skin for serums. It’s alcohol free which I love too. It does have Phenoxyethanol in it as I mentioned earlier in the post under Indie Lee’s Brightening Cleanser. Again, I don’t have a problem using this up, but not one I would pick up again and again because of the Phenoxyethanol. $3
Phew, this was a long review! I just received my November box and I’m so excited to share it with you guys next month. But if you made it this far in the review you get a serious reward! Sign up for your first Glowing Beets Box and get 30% off using code GG30! Check their site out here. Don’t miss out on this amazing deal and beauty box! Have you guys heard of Glowing Beets?
Zuii Makeupwas so generous to send me a sampling of their goodies. If you’re not familiar with the line, allow me to introduce you. Zuii Makeup is an Australian all natural makeup company. Even though they are made in Australia, their products aren’t hard to find here in the states.
Here is a quick description of this eco makeup line:
Zuii has embraced the essence of nature with a unique blend of Certified Organic Flora products and ingredients to nurture, protect and improve the health of your skin and the Earth.
Zuii’s timeless and evolving colour palette is created with the benefits of organic floral ingredients, essential oils, vitamins and minerals to allow you to create any look you desire.
Zuii’s products are not tested on animals, and contain no petrochemicals, no parabens, no talc, and no GM ingredients. They also are non-nano and gluten free. Not only that but they’re also non-nano, gluten free and vegan friendly. Something not all makeup lines can say. My only caveat with the Zuii Makeup line would be the essential oils that are used in the formulas. All their makeup as somewhat of a floral scent. They are natural of course, but some people still can struggle with fragrance of any kind. If this is you, I suggest getting samples first. I love that this line is so vast as well. You really wouldn’t need to search any further for additional products. It feels like a mainstream line but natural and pure.
So they sent me quite a bit of product and I want to tell you all about it…so let’s get to it!
This primer feels like a really lightweight lotion when you put it on. It quickly seeps in, leaving your skin feeling hydrated and nourished. It helped my foundation to glide on smoother and filled in my skin-creating an even canvas. My skin looked dewier using it. I didn’t feel like it filled in my fine lines like some primers, but it definitely gave me a more polished look. $34.95
I wasn’t sure how I felt about this foundation at first. It’s a lighter foundation, and doesn’t provide as much coverage as I’m used too. They actually market it as a medium foundation, which I agree with. It’s not super light but not heavy. However, once I started pairing it with the pressed powder foundation they gave me, I quickly loved it and keep reaching for it even now. It gave me a smooth look, but didn’t look cakey with the powder added. The consistency feels like a heavier tinted moisturizer-but with a bit more coverage. If you don’t like a ton of coverage, but like looking even and polished, this may be your gem. I have the color Natural Ivory. $44.95
As I mentioned above I started using this with the liquid foundation and loved it. I really love this powder! For starters, it’s amazing that it’s a pressed powder, most natural mineral powders are loose and usually a bit messy. Second, it glides on so smooth and makes the application so quick and effortless. As a mom this has been such an easy product to just throw in my makeup bag, and do quick touch up without the thought of Finley spilling it because it’s a loose powder. I’ve used it by itself too, but I always conceal with RMS Beauty “Un” Coverup as well. If you like a mineral powder and prefer a pressed, then you’ll love this one! $59.95
I had tried Zuii’s shadows before they sent me product, so I knew I already loved them. They offer such great pigment, are pressed and not loose(again no mess), and have a variety of colors to choose from. The shadows also last and go on smoothly. I never have eyeshadow that falls underneath my eye…you ladies know what I’m talking about! They remind me a lot of mainstream MAC shadows that I used to love(don’t worry gone are the days.) I was excited to try a quad palette out from Zuii. The Fresh palette is the perfect palette for brown eyes, like myself. The colors in it are Fudge- a nice dark brown, Grapefruit- a brighter red orange, Rich Gold- a traditional gold color, and Chestnut- a neutral cream. Some days I would wear just the Chestnut all over, and some days I would add some Fudge or for a little drama add some Grapefruit, or Rich Gold. Either way, they all flowed so well and could easily be dressed up or down. I loved taking this with me too when traveling-so much easier than trying to bring all individual sized eyeshadows. If those colors don’t suit your fancy they have many other color options. They also have duo shadows as well. $49.50
I was actually pleasantly surprised by the mascara. It has a traditional bristle brush(which I love). The formula is more goopy and pigmented too. You can really notice mascara on your lashes and it’s a very buildable formula. It definitely gave my lashes volume. It was a little wetter of a formula, which I didn’t love about it. For me, it didn’t harden as much as I would have liked after putting it on. However, considering it hit most of the marks I would give it a 7 out of 10. It didn’t give me drama/big lashes but just really nice looking lashes. It did remove really easy, which I loved too. They have another mascara as well called Maxi Lash Mascara, it’s more for length and separation. $29.50
Zuii sent me three of these. One color was Ruby- a bright orange red. Another was Austin- a true coral. And the final color was Lily- a bright cherry coral. I really like all the colors they sent. Ruby is a little more daring/eccentric but it’s fun to play up. Austin is the perfect coral that I could see myself wearing in the spring and summer. Lily is really more of an everyday color that goes with anything. What I love about their Sheerlips is the ability to layer them. You can swipe it once on your lips for a more natural look or several times to deepen the color. The’re also super moisturizing. Oh and they stay on too! I definitely recommend these for those with dry lips who like versatility in a lip product. $31.50
They sent me one lipstick in the color Plum. I absolutely love this color! It’s the perfect fall/winter shade. I had already tried their lipstick in the past, and knew I liked the formula. It’s creamy but feels like a traditional lipstick. They don’t bleed at all either. I put this on in the morning and by afternoon it hasn’t budged…my kind of lipstick. Their lipsticks are much more pigmented than their sheerlips, but not as moisturizing as sheerlips. I like them both for different purposes! $29.95
I was really intrigued by their makeup remover. I’m always on the lookout for a natural remover. This one has more of a lotion feel to it. You apply it on and then wipe off. I liked removing my face makeup with it but not my eye makeup. It would sting my eyes every time I used it around my eye area. I was bummed because as you all know, mascara is one of the hardest things to get off. But I still use it for my face makeup and even my lips and it works great. If you have sensitive eyes I would get a sample before committing to a full size. $22.50
That’s my review of Zuii Makeup. It was a long one and if you’re still reading then you’ll see that Zuii was kind enough to offer a coupon code. Use BB15ZU for 15% off any order. Have you guys tried any Zuii products?
Ok, so who doesn’t want long lashes?! I mean come on, it’s every girl’s dream to have pretty long luscious lashes. Since going green I kind of resided to the fact that my lashes maybe wouldn’t be as vamped up as my mainstream product using friends. But I had made peace with it. I mean I wasn’t about to use any sort of toxic glue near my eyes or toxic eyelash serum…no thanks! Well, thankfully this green junkie didn’t have to wait long, until the green beauty industry came out with a natural lash enhancing serum. Yes, ladies you heard me right-A NATURAL LASH ENHANCING SERUM…was I in heaven? Ok, maybe not, but I was definitely a step closer. Let me introduce you to my new friend…or should I say best friend?!
Plume is a natural lash enhancing serum that delivers fuller, more dramatic looking lashes. Sign me up…you had me at lash enhancing. The idea was birthed by a mom-much like myself. Can you say girl power?! And before you go getting all crazy ingredient police on me, let me inform you that it’s completely natural. Not natural, like people say petroleum is natural (btw it’s not) but natural as in every ingredient I can pretty much pronounce and know. It even scores a big fat zero on the ThinkDirty app…holla. They list out ingredients on their website and why it’s used in their formula…another gold star. Plus, all their ingredients are plant derived. Oh, and not only is it “really” natural but it “really” works…in case you were wondering, which I’m pretty sure if you’re still reading this, you are.
Here’s the science behind it, are you ready (put on your safety glasses, it’s about to get all sciencey…not really). Plumeexplained it so well I’m going to let them say it:
Our proprietary formula is designed to have a duel effect on the appearance of your lashes and brows:
1st by supporting the health and hydration of each hair follicle, and
2nd by supporting the longevity of those hair follicles
When it comes to the health, hydration and longevity of all living organisms (like the hair cells in your lashes) nothing compares to the effectiveness and purity of plant-derived ingredients. If you’re familiar with juicing, particularly the benefits of juicing fresh vegetables, think of Plume as a botanical super-juice for the hair follicles of your lashes and brows.
Did you catch that? So basically by supporting your hair follicles with all the nutrients they need, they’re able to grow and be strong. Makes sense to me, very similar to the hairs on our head(sorry the stylist in me is coming out). I like to think of Plume as a vitamin for your lashes and brows-with ingredients like aloe, castor oil, vitamin e, etc.
So you can hear all this science jargon but how did it work on me?? Well, let me tell you: It works, it worked, whatever you want to say. This stuff is my new jam and I can’t get enough. I’ve been using it for about 7 weeks now and my lashes are long and strong. Of course I took a before pic for you guys, what kind of blogger would I be if I didn’t?! And of course there’s an after pic…so check them out below. My lashes are considerably longer now and just look fab…I mean is there any other way to say it? It comes in a wand like brush similar to a mascara wand, but instead of a mascara brush at the end it’s looks like a small little paint brush. You just paint the creamy looking formula right on your lash line on the root of clean lashes, like you would eyeliner. I would just do it before going to bed, but you can do it in the morning and put on your makeup as you normally would(let it dry for a couple minutes first). It didn’t irritate my eyes at all. It went on creamy and dried clear. They say one bottle lasts about 6-8 weeks depending on if you’re using it for both bottom and top lashes. I just put it on my top lashes. I did use it on a couple spots on my brows but I didn’t see a difference with them. However, in all fairness I’ve never had hair in those spots, so not sure there is even a hair follicle to condition for growth! Plume has said it is possible to see results in as little as two weeks, but for optimal results they recommend waiting 6-8 weeks. It would also be a great supplement for those who have just gotten off eyelash extensions, and their lashes are weak and brittle.
Here are the before and after pics. I tried to get closer so you could see the difference.
I would recommend this for anyone who wants longer/fuller lashes or brows. It has given me lashes I’m proud to bat about, and I’m proud to share the product because of the ingredients! It’s simple, you all need this. Plus, what better Christmas gift or stocking stuffer. Best of all guys, I didn’t leave you hanging-Use coupon code GURLGG2015 for 20% off your order…so stock up here while the gettins’ good! Have any of you guys tried Plume?
